  1. I am just going to remark on the 3 points I singled out. The Democratic Party has moved too far to the center (right) in reality and they have ceded too much of the rules to the wackos and have not exploited systems to retain or usurp power because they, unlike the republicans, actually believe in this country and working within the system to enact change. They understand that our government is not supposed to be efficient but take time to thoughtfully consider actions, discover the pros and cons of actions, and then vote on making decisions. This stable predictable system allows us to be boring and bureaucratic, but also mindful and considerate. Our republican members are the ones undermining this with knee-jerk reactions. We have a real issue with propaganda and mis/disinformation within the United States. This was started and exploited by the republicans and you can see hallmarks of it everywhere you bother to look. You can see how foreign hostile actors have infiltrated the republicans and their supporters to further corrupt and drive a wedge. Every fucking election of my life, the DNC's candidates were the most liberal ever from what I heard from right-wing propagandists. They even manipulated their stupid fucking audience so much they no longer understood what words meant, words like communism, fascism, socialism, liberal democracy, they know nothing. All they can think is reflexively like a lizard, liberal = bad, and that is the sum total of republicanism. When Obama announced the killing of bin Laden, I saw how it really irked republicans. We all saw it. Because we knew you were about party over country. Now you are about Trump over party over country. Biden was charismatic. Harris was less so. Trump is very charismatic but also a buffoon. Had he been born poor, he would have been a used car salesman and not the likable Kurt Russell/Bill Paxton type. Again, you are not serious people. This isn't a fucking TV show where the ratings = success. Trump is great for ratings but look at the current state of the economy and uncertainty. Presidents should come on TV/Radio once in a while, report major incidents/results and largely stay in the background. Once politics becomes analogous to a team sport and ratings become important than we are all in for it as this feeds their ego, and that creates more attention seeking. It is time to grow the fuck up and vote for qualified serious people and not a bunch of dumbfucks that communicate with the latest memes or in a style that seems more appropriate of teenagers. If you cannot bring yourself to put in the time an energy to research candidates and their ideas then don't fucking vote. Let people do it who can. Or just vote straight democratic party. Because right now those are the only fucking adults in the room and have been for quite some time. They are the only ones with a track record of holding their own accountable for misdeeds. They are the only ones who are serious about governing to the best of their abilities and protecting the interests of all. They are the only candidates who prioritize freedoms and balance out social responsibility. They have the only candidates who are considering some pushback against the growing oligarchy.

  2. No. Don’t do this. This is a media narrative used to strike a balanced tone because outside of the business press they don’t care about or understand the global trade economy. His first term tariffs were a disaster. We lost global market share in ag exports we will never get back. The winner of the 2017 trade war was China, and will be this time as well. The only tariffs that benefit us, even WRT China, are the limited set of commodities and goods where we need to maintain strategic capability, like steel and heavy manufacturing. And even in those cases there are usually better ways to protect capability and American IP. Here’s the basic fact of the matter- we control the world’s reserve currency. As long as we do, really don’t have a trade deficit with anyone, not even China. Think about this: our adversary sends us tangible goods with intrinsic value that we control demand for, and we export to them our fiat currency, which we control the supply of. And they are cheating US, you say? And you want to do something to stop THAT? So in what sense does this accomplish anything other than weaken the market for our most important export, the dollar?

  3. Correct, the way to combat the mistaken belief that Democrats drifted left is to point out the truth, not concede the point. Conceding the point is how we got here. The 2025 Democratic Party is way right of the 1980s Democratic Party. It only seems like it moved left because the Republicans have moved way way way way right. So the general public (read: simpletons) is easily fooled into believing the lie. The greatest economic engine in history, the USA from 1946-1973, had higher corporate taxes, huge government investment/spending, and occurred at the same time as an explosion of liberal social policies. The only people who benefit from our recent hard rightward lurch are the richest of the rich. The greatest period of any society in history, where the entire nation benefited, was based on far more government involvement.

  5. People believe that Democrats are far left radicals because that's what people in the "center" say, because every time a center-left Democrat runs for office they say "I'm not like those crazy communist Democrats, I'm a salt of the earth farmer/military veteran with a conservative background and conservative values who just thinks my opponent is a little bit too far right!" "Democrats are far left communists out of touch with American values" is literally Republican propaganda and tens of millions of dumbasses do their work for them by mindlessly repeating it.

  7. 99% of MAGA don't give a flying fuck what's happening with the stock market. on social media, they repeatedly point out that they live paycheck to paycheck. the stock market going in the tank doesn't mean a thing to them because they're not in the game. it's only hurting the "elites," which pleases them. now, they're too stupid to realize that what's happening now is going to increase the cost of everything they need to survive. but when Trump blames that on other people, MAGA believes him. completely. hell, he's convinced his followers that Canada is an enemy that has been taking advantage of us for years, and that Russia is our true partner. and the 1% of MAGA that does care about the stock market collapse does not have the stones to say anything at all that questions Dear Leader's "plan." we're not even 4 months in to a 4 year term. this is pretty frightening.

  8. Bingo. The issue is not that we don't have jobs. The issue is that our entire economy has tilted in a way where the wealth those jobs created does not go to the people performing those jobs. That's it. "Bringing back" jobs sewing shoes together doesn't fix that problem. It doesn't even scratch the surface. This admin defined the problem wrong, measured it wrong, and came up with a "fix" that is SO wrong...it's not just wrong because they're trying to fix the wrong problem, it's wrong even if they defined the problem correctly. God we are so fucked.

  9. Who could have guessed that "they're eating cats and dogs" and "your children will come home from school a different gender" would be a more resonant message than "we will protect medicare/medicaid and social security"? Those are not serious ideas or messages. How do you reason with a person living a completely different reality?

  10. Uh yeah, that's the problem. He acknowledges that he's "like most normal people" which, if he were smart, would make him realize that he completely bought the total horseshit he's been fed for the last couple of decades. He actually thinks the Democratic Party has drifted left. He realizes the country is in crisis because the Republican Party is composed of maniacs and morons and is in complete control of the Federal Government but still can't let go of the completely absurd premise that it's also the Democrats' fault. He is exactly why we're fucked and will continue to be fucked.

  11. The only Democrats I would put blame on are the Biden cabinet people who kept telling us he was fine and ready to go when he was falling asleep during prep for the first debate and obviously had declined heavily due to age. They should have pressed heavily to pull the plug on a re-election campaign well before the primaries. They didn't, and it cost us big time. That said, they get 1 percent of the blame. The other 99 percent goes to the fucking racist morons who voted for Trump or didn't vote at all. This should have been the easiest election ever, even far easier than 2016. Everyone saw exactly what Trump was during 2017 to 2020, 1/6, and the ensuing trials. The stupidity to choose that is far beyond anything ever seen before.

  14. "We" aren't sinking the ship. "We" don't have any power to that. "We," however, have been sounding this alarm for fucking years, but the moderates in the middle have the memories of goldfish. If you are a Gen Xer, every single Republican administration that you've experienced as an adult has ended in an economic disaster: Big Bush, Shrub, and Trump. And every single Democratic administration has had to clean up his predecessor's mess. One would think that people of normal intelligence could maybe pick up on a fucking pattern by now and consider that maybe those loony leftists know what the fuck they're doing and talking about. After trying -- repeatedly and desperately -- to point shit out, sometimes you just get worn down, and all you have left is falling back on bitter and angry ridicule.

  16. This post just shows how lost you are. You are the one trying to regulate and modify people's posting. I wouldn't ban anyone, but I also wouldn't chastise people for telling fools that they're fools which is what you're doing. Again, they have to be willing to accept that they were conned. Telling them they're doing a great job is counterproductive in the long run. If they don't understand how they were tricked it will just happen again, and it will happen very soon. If they can't stand the discomfort of being told they were and still are being conned then they don't actually care enough to change. And anyone who thinks the Democratic Party has drifted left is still completely lost.

  17. Yep. Pandering to the puerile demands of morons instead of educating them is not a long-term solution. In fact, it’s exactly how we got here in the first place.

  20. Part of the problem here is that you are so convinced that you are correct that you leave no room for dissent without feeling attacked. Your posts are very offensive/defensive minded. But let me address a few other things: I think you have fallen into the trap of what Tahoe and Anastasis and others of their ilk would lay out. "You forced me to vote for the worst person, because....." and then they would rattle off something to try to appear reasoned while ignoring the real truth, they were never going to vote non-R because that is their identity. You place more faith and belief in swing-voters than I do. I tend to believe whoever gets on TV and has the most fear-based commercials is going to win, content or facts need not apply. This is why we see so many people in shock about losing their status, their security, their assets because they never were interested in looking at the whole candidate and instead just latched on to what they thought was cool/trendy and what their favorite influencers/podcasters claimed. I tend to think the swing-voters are just trying to get attention. For example, we have communities like Muslim-Americans who voted for Trump because they thought he would be their guy. They convinced themselves he would be their guy. All evidence was to the contrary, but still they voted for him. The message was out there, but they lied to themselves. They protest voted against the Democratic Party demanding that they needed to be heard. And they stuck their stupid right into the lion's jaws. No amount of facts were going to get through to irrational people who voted irrationally because they convinced themselves of the 'signs' were there that he would do their bidding. If you want to say the left has a problem with messaging, it does. It is an inherent flaw with reasoned, qualified, logical positions. They don't fit on a bumper sticker and they don't rhyme. It is why former Republican strategist Michael Steele even repeated "facts have a liberal bias." The other problem is when you have ethical standards you tend to live by them. You don't create TV ads with some lying scumbag in a military hat telling people that public schools are performing sex-change operations on children without consent. Lying about school vouchers scams as freedom. All funded by the people who want their hands on the government's cash earmarked for education.

Listen, I think we can all agree that if I didn't channel my inner Helobious yesterday, we don't have ginger Sean Bradley committed today, so you're all welcome for landing us a much needed Center. It's great and all that Miller got one lucky commit, but he's still the love child of Rodney Terry and Shaka Smart. He makes Charlie Strong look organized and Tom Herman seem likeable. He's destined to fail, and there's no fucking way he lands Traore or any other big time transfer.

Yeah losing your arm fucking sucks, but my kids not having their mom, or me not having my person would be a lot worse. And every day I watch her do all the normal life things in life, she still cooks and cleans like a good wife it is something you can overcome and do everything in life you want to. She is currently plotting how she can water ski. We don’t even know if it will come to that, but if it does you will persevere, don’t quit on me.

  30. Being attacked and dogpiling isn't conducive to a conversation and this is a thread about the trump economy. You all collectively are doing shit that is keeping people from joining the conversation. You do realize that there's quite a few people who share the sentiment and now instead of getting any kind of traction you guys have run off a poster. This isn't some fucking good deed you did, this is a community that you are actively making worse by shitting on someone and dogpiling a thread derail.

Her policies would have put money in the hands of consumers and first time buyers in homes. If you did not vote for her, YOU are to blame, not the party that voted for Harris.

He has created destruction and death on a global scale (yep, see what shutting down USAID has already done). His death will be a glorious moment for humanity. May his ketamine be laced, or may he just finally grasp how hated he is and end it all.

A libertarian group backed by Leonard Leo and Charles Koch has mounted a legal challenge against Donald Trump’s tariff regime, in a sign of spreading rightwing opposition to a policy that has sent international markets plummeting. The New Civil Liberties Alliance filed a suit against Trump’s imposition of import tariffs on exports from China, arguing that doing so under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) – which the president has invoked to justify the duties on nearly all nations – is unlawful. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/07/trump-tariffs-lawsuit
