  1. Too good not to share with the football board:
  2. There's always an uncle...
  3. As long as you have cable (or a cable-like streaming serveice), it is probably better. It looks like CBS Sports Network games are not on Paramount Plus, so if you don't have cable, it looks like you're out of luck.
  4. If the NFL had to allow its teams to draft high school athletes (and they do not because they collectively bargained for the three years out of high school rule), they absolutely would draft high school athletes, especially QBs. In this scenario, they obviously wouldn't play in the NFL right away (although great WRs might play as rookies out of HS), but the NFL would develop a system to train them up and then play them when they are ready. Do people really think that not a single team out of the 32 franchises would spend one of their seven rounds of draft picks on Arch Manning out of high school? They would do it just to take the chance on the upside, because they are unlikely to get that chance if he goes to college, unless they have the number one draft pick. Like in the NBA, eventually the teams will start drafting more and more younger players just to stash them for the upside and to keep them away from their competitors. Of course, this will never happen, because the NFL prefers to forbid it so that the players can be developed by the colleges and they do not have to waste that money. The NFLPA also has no incentive to change it, because they would have to give up something in exchange and none of the NFLPA players are in high school or college, so fuck them kids.
  5. It looks like all 20 of the newly sublicensed games will be on CBSSN, while the six already agreed to will stay on CBS, at least according to Paramount. https://www.paramountpressexpress.com/cbs-sports/shows/college-basketball/releases/?view=110338-cbs-sports-and-big-12-expand-partnership-with-multi-year-agreement-for-additional-mens-college-basketball-games
  6. Texas Aggies, you stupid sip.
  7. Texas Volleyball's Social Media is elite:
  8. Did we know that Derek Williams was doubtful? Everything else seems as expected to me. Five RBs potentially out is wild. Also, LOL at Kiffin listing so many people as Probable:
  9. Fuck Ketch, but also, this.
  10. I know that the NCAA is just trying to get Congress to give them more power, but interesting that they seem to be siding with the player here.
  11. Not really the 4th string RB. He's the fourth leading rusher, but the transferring QB is by far the leading rusher and they seem to use three running backs about the same amount: But yes, it was clearly about playing time that he thought he was promissed.
  12. It looks like this one was about failure to provide the playing time he thought they were going to give him.
  13. I thought it was pretty clear that I meant "one of the favorites to make the playoffs [in the G5 spot]." Obviously the Vegas Odds you provide list them as third; others list them as first or second. That seems like one of the favorites to me. Even if they are the third highest odds - It seems incredible that they would have gone from not even imagining making the playoff to now having the third highest odds of any G5 school in only three games.
  14. Man. This kid must be really good to have taken UNLV from an afterthought that would have required drugs to even imagine in the playoffs to one of the favorites if not the favorite to make the playoff in three games.
  15. Eh - For a starting QB that could potentially lead you to the first 12 team playoff and a multi-million dollar windfall?
  16. Pulling a QB from Holy Cross is always going to be a risk, which is probably why they would have only offered him the money if he won the starting job.
  17. From all of the statements, it seems to me that he was promised $100k if he transferred AND won the starting QB job. Obviously you could not put that in writing, as it would be blatantly against the rules as pay-for-play, so they kept it as a verbal agreement. He won the starting job, went to UNLV/the collective and was like where is the money, and they told him they didn't have it.
  18. I get that the passing stats are not great, but he led Holy Cross, a team that seems to mostly go 4-7 to 10-3 and 12-1. They are now 1-3 so far this year. I'm guessing he's more than a "decent" running QB.
  19. I definitely agree with this take.
  20. The House settlement would explicitly make NIL from boosters against the rules. All NIL payments over $600 would have to be reported. They could not be paid by boosters or collectives. And the payer would have to prove a legitimate business purpose for each deal. It would push the extra payments back underground into bag deals. This is the reason the judge did not approve of the settlement. She basically said this looks a lot like a salary cap. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/whats-next-for-ncaa-nil-collectives-after-house-settlement-talks-hit-roadblock-from-federal-judge/
  21. LOL. "He advised Cromartie/Sluka to discuss the situation direclty with the coaching staff." Even if the collective's side of the story is true, it may look even worse for UNLV's coaches.
  22. Is that true even if the House settlement does not get approved before then?
  23. Come on guys. It's obviously shorthand for "UNLV's collective."
  24. It would cost a lot more than $100k to get a QB at a school like Michigan who is likely going to be a high draft pick to forgo the game (and take the risk of something getting out).
