  1. As I said before, the SEC will still claim the championship if we win this year. People are acting like we're not basically an SEC team already.
  2. I think the UGA/Bama game two years ago is the only time a number one team going into championship weekend ever lost, right? So it is precedent, but it's not exactly a running thing. That year, number 3 Bama beat number 1 UGA and they basically switched places. The team that was number 5 going into the weekend was 1 loss OSU and they lost in the Big 12 championship. The team that was number 6 was Notre Dame, who didn't play in a conference championship. I'm not sure that applies if number 7/8 Bama beats number 1 UGA and the teams in between also win.
  3. The SEC getting "left out" is kind of funny if Texas makes it, given that we're basically in the SEC as soon as the season is over.
  4. Note that Texas' win over Bama was the only one on the road and also the only one by double digits. Washington beat Oregon at home by 3 Michigan beat tOSU at home by 6 OU beat Texas by 4 at a neutral site.
  5. Not to mention a bad third quarter against Alabama. Imagine if we had beaten them by 20+. It might have been enough for everyone to agree we should be ahead of them at the end of the year.
  6. I think this could actually be better for us, as it suggests the Comittee wouldn’t be totally against putting a one loss team over an undefeated team.
  7. I mean. No one knows because the ACC is so bad. They just lost to 7-5 Kentucky.
  8. Rooting Interest assuming we beat OSU: 1. Louisville over FSU - if FSU loses, I think we’re in no matter what. 2. Iowa over Michigan - I think we’re in no matter what if this happens. 3. Bama over UGA - I think we’re in over Bama and UGA with Head to Head. 4. Oregon over Washington - Debatable between us and Oregon
  9. I think it’s more about even the eyeball test says we’re better. SOS and big wins clearly says we’re better.
  10. Maybe, but the committee is always referencing injuries in comparing teams. I doubt they bump FSU, but if FSU looks like ass their last two games and barely wins, I’m not writing it off.
  11. They explicitly consider injuries. It’s a different committee, but I remember when they left Cincinnati off of the top line in the bball tourney because their best player got injured late, even though they were clearly the best team.
  12. Doesn't our 49% include the probability that UGA beats Bama, while Bama's 69% assumes that UGA loses obviously. Texas' percentage to make it when winning out might be much higher in the Bama beats UGA scenario.
  13. To be fair, Bill O'Brien went 15-9 as a college head coach before leaving for the NFL. Obviously Penn State is not the same as Arizona, but it was also right after the whole Paterno thing.
  14. This whole argument is silly. It all started with MW's statement that "Of course style point matter, but they don't replace (or shouldn't) stated criteria," which I agree with. The committee can do whatever the fuck they want and put in tOSU vs. Michigan because they like helmet stickers and stripes, but they should do it based on the stated criteria that they say they must consider, like championships, head-to-head, and strength of schedule.
  15. Again, I'm not sure I agree. Is beating UGA at a neutral cite as good as being Bama on the road? Both will be wins over 12-1 SEC schools, which Bama having played a tougher schedule and having a much better best win than UGA. Ole Miss' best win is LSU and then what - Tulane without their QB? A&M? LSU's best win by far is Mizzou and then what - A&M again assuming they win this week? KSU lost on the road on a last second 60+ yard field goal to Mizzou and their best win is Kansas or maybe Iowa State? OU's best win is obviously Texas and then one of ISU, WVU, or possibly SMU (who is similar to Tulane). OSU's best win is obviously OU and then KSU. I'm not seeing Bama's best wins as better than Texas,' other than in name.
  16. I think the simpler way they get in would be for three of the following to happen: (1) FSU to lose one of their last two games, (2) Texas to lose one of their last two games, (3) Georgia to beat Bama, and (4) Washington to beat Oregon.
  17. All of the Big Noon Kickoff People pick tOSU and Michigan to both make the CFP except for Urban Meyer, who picks both Oregon and Washington instead...
  18. I mean, the CFP website states criteria they supposedly consider (https://collegefootballplayoff.com/sports/2016/9/30/overview)
  19. Even that is debatable. Is beating UGA (12-1), Ole Miss (10-2), LSU (9-3), and Tennessee (8-4), A&M (6-6), Arkansas, Kentucky, Auburn, Miss State really much better than beating Bama (12-1), KState (9-3), OU (10-2)/OSU (9-3), Kansas (8-4), ISU (6-6), Tech, TCU, Houston, BYU this year? I don't see how that is close to enough of a difference to outweigh a 10 point road win head-to-head.
