  1. Michael Lewis and Sean Tuohy are good buddies from high schools - that's how he ended up telling their story. I doubt he was looking to bring down one of his oldest friends.
  2. Regardless of whether he has a legal case, it appears that he was definitely screwed over by these people. Maybe he couldn’t have taken money in 2007 under NCAA rules, but the movie didn’t come out until 2009 after he was done playing football and it’s not like they couldn’t have waited until he was done playing in college. Instead, they apparently negotiated big deals for the entire family and nothing for the main character.
  3. Except the conservatorship agreement wasn’t signed until he was 18.
  4. You’re assuming the committee voting will happen the same way when those spots matter instead of being just for show mostly.

  6. There is quite a bit of variance in the amount of the fees - UNC's is $279; UVA's is $742; and JMU's is $2,362. I think students voluntarily paying for tickets or passes is different than just taking it out of everyone's tuition.
  7. It's a small point, but which school is better in academics is arguable. Miami does better in metrics that favor smaller private schools, like US News, but NC State ranks higher in R&D and is slightly higher in QS World University Rankings. I doubt it matters because I do not think the SEC is taking either of them, but if you are the SEC, at some point you do not need more schools in the same state. I doubt they would want three Florida schools.
  8. Gerry to Gators Online confirmed.
  9. Louisville is probably overlooked because they do not really have a path to joining the Big Ten or SEC. The Big Ten is never going to invite them for academic reasons and the SEC is not going to invite them as a second school in the state of Kentucky.
  10. Except those are the schools against expansion. My guess is ESPN wouldn’t mind adding the California schools, but it sounds like FSU and Clemson are going to say no to everything until they get out.
  11. Lol. I thought it was Miami. Although now I see the SEC.
  12. I’m pretty sure they did it to sell commercials in New York, LA, and Chicago.
  13. Which is why it does not make a lot of sense. The SEC and ESPN do not gain much from adding FSU and Clemson, so I am not sure why they would help this along. If each school offered the ACC $500 million for their rights back, I'm sure the ACC schools would like to take it, but I am not sure why ESPN would proceed to agree to pay the SEC schools enough to make it worth everyone's while. And my guess is $500 million is more than FSU/Clemson can afford, especially if it takes them years to get a full share in their new conference.
  14. My sources say that the Miami coaching staff will not learn about it until Monday, when they get back from a weekend bender.
  15. It sounds like he’s about to microwave a week old burrito.
  16. Of course. If you don’t hear enough to do something, you always do it. If we do not know what we’re talking about, imagine how interesting it will be when we explain everything that we were wrong about.
  17. If they don’t care about ever getting any conference money, my guess is they would be admitted immediately if they agree to taking 0 conference pay for eternity. My guess is they eventually want a cut of the money, but are willing to wait for it.
  18. The view is the same if you’re in first place as it is if you’re so far behind everyone that you cannot see them.
  19. This is how I want all articles distilled from now on. I feel like I just watched an action packed movie.
