  1. Cole Ragans pitching like an All Star tonight against Boston. 1 run, 4 hits in 7 innings worked. KC wins 6-1. Chris Young did us a solid swapping him for Chapman.
  2. Damn, I blew right past your Quivira comment. I wasn't in Scouting but a lot of my buddies spent time at that ranch. Our family farm is a couple counties north of Quivira in the middle of the Flint Hills. I would imagine that you also saw the little prairie rattlesnakes that are common in the meadows.
  3. Seagrave, to the main stage. Seagrave, to the main stage.
  4. This guy was outside my attached garage this afternoon. I have always called these racers, they’re common here in central Kansas. When I got close it went into this hole under the slab with the quickness. Racer indeed.
  5. My wife and I are going to Nova Scotia in early August. We will fly into Boston and spend a couple of days with family in York, ME before driving to St. John,NB. We'll catch a ferry there and go to Digby, NS, get a rental car and drive to Halifax. We have an AirB&B lined up near Halifax for a week. My wife's paternal grandmother was born an hour from Halifax and the family farm is still in the family. We're going to meet up with some of her cousins that are still in the area that should be able to steer us to good eating and sightseeing. It looks like there is some good advice here already but I'd like to hear from more recent visits. Thanks in advance.
  6. My farmette runs on a well that is 120' deep with 60' of standing water. The 220v 3/4hp pump is suspended 85'down. I put this one in the hole in 2009 to replace the original pump the well driller installed in 1990. Easy Peasy. Took a shower Sunday night and the wife watered her garden so it was all working. A big storm with 100 mph straight winds blew through that night and the pump wasn't working when I got up the next morning. There were a couple of close lightning strikes during the storm so I checked the control box and the pressure switch for damage. The switch was blackened but showed continuity with a meter. The control box looks like new and the breaker at the panel wasn't tripped. I figured that the pump was fried and bought a replacement from Menard's in Wichita, I was there for a Dr visit anyway. Last night, a buddy and I pulled the pump and put the replacement on, dropped it back into the hole. It came with a new control box so I replaced the old one. I flipped the breaker and... nothing. All that heavy lifting for nothing. I called a friend this morning that drills and installs wells for geothermal to come out and check my work with his meter. Everything in the basement is wired correctly and juice is flowing properly. We went to the well head 200 yds out in the pasture and found that we had 240v at the top. His theory is that the wires from the top of the well to the pump must be bad even though a cursory examination didn't cause any alarm before we put it back in the hole. It's either that or Menard's sold me a faulty pump. Not unheard of but not very likely either. If it's the wire that is bad, the pump that was replaced should still work so I'm going to wire it up in my basement and see if it spins before I get another pump. If it runs or not, I will pull the pump again and check for continuity from the top end of the wires to the pump. I will probably replace them anyway but I gotta know. My well guy said I could fire up the pump to see if it runs before I put it back in the hole as long as it doesn't run for very long without being submerged. We will damn sure check continuity all the way to the pump before it goes back in the hole.
  7. You know, my wife had a traumatic brain injury and as such has seizures. My dick doesn't go anywhere near her choppers.
  8. Question is, do you remove the fat ring from the outer rim or eat it as God intended?
  9. The bullpen just puked up a late inning lead to trail the Tigers by 3. It’s more fun than it has been for 5 years but they still have some warts.
  10. It was probably Rex but Ryan Lefebvre is no slouch when it comes to shitty takes.
  11. They didn't vote no on the stadium. They voted down a 40 yr continuation of a 3/8 cent sales tax to help fund it. Ownership of the Royals and the Chiefs have done a shit job of letting the community know just what they want to do and really rushed this vote. They still have 6-7 years before the lease expires and maybe they can get their shit together and come up with a proposal that doesn't appear to be such a blatant cash grab.
  12. Very glad to hear this. I did treatments for depression way back before the beginning of this thread, hence my participation. I took medication for less than a year and learned some coping techniques that have kept me relatively trouble free and pharma free since. It still rears it's head once in awhile but I have been able to stare it down for the most part. Hang in there. It sounds like you have a good handle on it.
  13. Announcers were laughing that Billy Butler had 2 ABs needing only a single for the cycle and couldn’t get it done. Last best chance. BWJ up now. 3-2 count and he Strikes out swinging. Probably won’t get another AB.
  14. 2-3 good years out of the last 35? I don’t get to crow much.
  15. Bobby Witt Jr is a double shy of the cycle in the 3rd. Royals up 10 on Minny.
  16. This is the first I have seen of Texas or Tennesee this year. Does the eye bleeding stop after awhile?
  17. I spent Sunday afternoon at Pima A&S in Tucson. Two of the ugliest fuckers that ever flew. the Starship is special to me because they did a lot of test flights over our farm back in the day. I can identify that sound from miles away.
  18. I was at The Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson Saturday. They had a couple of these on display with the nickname on the plaque. I imagine that there were a lot of parents that weren't pleased to answer the question.
  19. Way back in the Shaggy days, I asked for dining info about Ballinger, TX. I was told to try Lowake Steakhouse and Allsups. Been to Lowake twice but have eaten from the choices at Allsups several times each trip. Thanks @Brisketexan
  20. Breakfast in Tucumcari yesterday. Had 2 beef and beans, 2 chimi whatever’s. The weapon is just out of frame.
  21. Looks a lot like both of mine did in 2005. I played golf or something similar 8 weeks after they were replaced. That looks pretty good. I’m sitting in a holiday inn express as I type this and it looks good to me.
  22. Thanks. I usually do the Pampa route when going that way. Scentsy, yo.
