  1. I just want to point out that if someone is a flight risk or at risk to not show up to trial, they are not released.
  2. Able-bodied, mentally fit people who are on government assistance should be offered these jobs.
  3. Guest worker program along with penalties for any company hiring an illegal immigrant.
  4. Those BP agents are shitty. Most of us agree on that.
  5. But children are not alllowed to be held in federal jail. When they were released to their close family in the US, they moved and were never heard from again. Then the goverment was blamed for "losing" them.
  6. Most of us agree that separating families is wrong, but can any of you tell me what the solution is? Keep them in detention together? Let them go and hope they show up to court?
  7. I agree it's awful. Let's say the stop separating children from their parents immediately. What is your solution to the problem? Catch and release?
  8. No. They know that once they claim asylum in one country, they cannot claim it in another country. They know that Mexico will not accept them if they cannot support themselves and their family. Immigration officials must “ensure” that “immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance” and for their dependents. (Article 34)
  9. I deduce that they could have claimed asylum in a number of different countries but chose not to.
  10. How is it racist? Unskilled is unskilled no matter what race the person is.
  11. They won't stop there because Mexico does not tolerate immigrants who only want to live off the government tit. Mexico is a huge country, not everywhere is riddled with violence and poverty like the border towns.
  12. And that is the kind of thinking a lot of people are against.
  13. IF they are within our borders. I'm not arguing against that. The goal is to only let people in legally. If they only need asylum, why are they not claiming it in Mexico? Can you see why people are skeptical when they say they are seeking asylum and pass through Mexico which was a party of the Refugee convention?
  14. They are complicit in the immigration problem. They give them visas to allow them to travel through Mexico. Why is Mexico not granting them asylum? Are we going to play the "not our problem" game? If so, how are these immigrants the US's problem?
  15. Mexico can grant them a temporary visa (in addition to the travel visas they already are granting) and let them live there until their court date.
  16. Do not separate them. Do not put them in detention centers. Do not let them roam free in the US before their court date. Can we agree on this?
  17. You forgot the part where they allow them roam around the United States for years until their court date.
  18. They are the ones who granted them the travel visa in the first place. They can keep them until they are processed.
  19. Separating the families is awful. They should be processed on the Mexican side of the border and wait there until they are granted asylum.
  20. Nope. But people complain about the how bad low income people live in the US, and people want to add more low income people? How is that logical?
  21. I entered $20000 salary, $1000 withheld, 2 children.
  22. Maybe they should do that for the existing citizens before adding more people to the system.
