  1. I'm going to add the term "expansive soils" to my list of reasons why people should have gutters.

    1.  Keeps rain off your head while you're standing @ the door fumbling with keys (probably the one that gets most people's attention, even if it's not the most important).

    2. Prevents splash back from the driveway, bushes @ the windows, front steps, etc. that can cause damage to door trim, windows, bricks, siding, etc.

    3.  Prevents erosion & soil washout.

    4.  Redirects water so it doesn't cause erosion in areas not directly associated with the waterline / drip line (i.e. collect it with a flex-pipe & re-route to a different area).

    5.  Prevents ugly waterline from # 3 (nothing but gravel left, etc).

    6.  Can be collected for watering the lawn, etc.

PS:  If you're building a house, be sure to have the contractor or construction superintendent install a "kickout" for any roof to wall joints where it terminates to an eave.

Or, if buying a pre-existing home be sure your inspector knows to look for that application.  If you're having a re-roof project done, that's the time to add one in.  Even with gutters, you will have a tiny gap that has water slipping past & if it runs down the wall (whatever material it is made of), you'll get an ugly, dirty, algae caused streak down the wall.

  2. Cut a lotta Cedar again today & came in for dinner all sweaty. Swapped shirts but kept Jean's on.

After dinner, removed jeans & piled them on the BR floor... then showered.

After shower, collected stank clothing for a wash & dry cycle + some dish towels, etc. & this combo makes for fuzz & lint in the pockets.

After the dryer cycle, I rabbit eared the pockets & this came out of the L side.

Must have climbed in during that 15 minute gap.40829877ec9c76b3613b7fc171775f89.jpg

Either way, I’m kinda thinking this comment falls under “stupid shit husbands does/say”.  .

Additionally, if she had driven this 20 minute one way would have been 25+ out, 25+ back & 15 in the store.  I can hit every corner like Emerson Fittipaldi where she's always hitting 35mph or less for fear of hitting a deer.

You really want to trust teh wimmenz with fire & grilling?

  5. Filed under the "shit they do" portion.

"If I'm gonna grill 'em, you make the hamburger patties."  (because apparently she doesn't like the way I do it / seasonings I use, whatever).

Come in from cutting cedar / burning stuff, get quick shower because I'm covered in cedar dirt:  "OK, where's the stuff?  I don't see them in the fridge."

She put all 5 shaped patties on a plate, then left that on the kitchen counter.

Our adult Doberman apparently snarfed them.  Guess who got to drive to H.E.B. (they were still open) & get some replacement meat?  40 minutes round trip.  I'm certain if I ever bring this up as an example of dumbassery that somehow I'll be the jerk.
