At one time Fran kept herself in pretty good shape.  No idea now.

Provided she doesn't actually talk like she did in the TV show (or simply shut TFU), I'd bang her current version just as much as I'd go after the then version.

I literally don't think my wife has ever put something back where it's supposed to go.

It is so bad that at least twice a week, she'll be wandering aimlessly around the house and I'll ask what she's doing.

    "I'm looking for X" she'll say.

And I'll say, "Do you know why you can't find X?"

And she'll say, "Because I didn't put it back where it's supposed to go the last time I used it."

Yet she still won't put things back when she'd done with them.

My wife is just as bad as the kids for putting something in a random spot that is relevant to where she is for time & place that she no longer has a need for it & then when needing said item cannot locate it.  I left a hammer in the bedroom on the cluttered dresser for probably 4 months just to see when she might recognize that it doesn't actually belong there.

Ask her who won The Bachelor last season.

Win:  My wife doesn't watch (or like) that show or most reality TV.

Lose:  My wife watches (& likes) "The Nanny" (Fran Drescher as "Nanny Fine").

I don't know if I can take that as a wash.

Might be a tad insensitive trying to give them a bid so soon

Well, a roof load sure would be easy, what with no tree or power lines overhead.  The boom truck can get right up close.  Easy stuff... except for the part where the trusses might crush in.

     Dumb idea?

Let's get back to this idea.

Not really dumb, not exactly a wise move.  Unless we have photos or something sketched out, I won't know exactly how to advise.  Some thing it's easier to do because there's less interference from the existing roof, & while that's true it also adds extra labor for the floating portion AND extra labor for closing in the high side.

    Where do you live?

  6. Any generic 3Tab will be split within 2 or 3 years.  That slope is probably a 20:12 or something like that & it is gonna stress that for a ridge cap.

Get a single bundle of high profile ridge cap from whatever "real" roofing wholesaler is closest to you.  Probably gonna cost $ 50; make sure the person @ the counter knows you have a crazy steep slope going on.

    Looks good otherwise.

  7. Well, TBF we don't really know how far over the existing roof he wants this new dealio to extend plus what direction he intends the slope to run.

    1 ft? 6 ft?

& YES, a large gutter would be a good idea, however in theory a common 6" K style with a 3×4 downspout is going to do everything needed.

Avoid large, oversized gutters if you can because they are only made in 10 ft. runs, require more labor & are prone to having issues @ each if the connections.

  8. Some small hail, no bigger than a dime

With a 60 mph wind, dime sized hail can still easily damage shingles or a low slope roofing system (Modified Bitumen).

  9. All I know is I went to a Blanco meeting re: addition to a shop & probably less than ⅓ mile from where I crossed the Blanco River, there was an off duty DPS officer (in his personal vehicle) hanging out by the pipeline.

I asked if this was the spot where the Karst had been blown open & he said he didn't know about any of that but, was there "to stop anyone from setting another fire & damaging more equipment".

I want to build a covered patio onto the back of my house that is higher than the roofline of my house which is fairly low. My thought is to install a wide large capacity gutter onto the house eave and then a basically free standing patio structure that is two feet taller than the house roof. Hopefully the large gutter would divert heavy rain flows from the patio. Dumb idea?

It can be done, however we need to consider the supporting components for the part that extends (floats?) over the existing house roof.

What town do you live in?
