  1. Here it is almost 1 hour past midnight CST & the news pages I've seen on FB (every single one of them) are blaming this on LDS leaving, girls joining... say "we" should sell more cookies... buncha idiots.  Then again, that's humanity for ya.

Obviously nobody reasonable wanted ANYONE to suffer abuse.  That's horrible.  & YES, BSA did a quite shitty job of addressing this issue.  But that's also the case for the Vatican / Catholic church, schools, sports organizations, ANY youth pastor, the military, daycares, police / fire / emergency responders... i.e. any group where someone could be vulnerable to someone in a position of authority.

  2. Today, I did a solo temporary water prevention (i.e. put synthetic vapor barrier [instead of felt] on a roof) today for a house in Kyle that got hit with that mini-tornado back around 3 or 4 weeks ago.

My back is killing me, I almost slipped 4x on loose shingle grit (3Tab roof, so pretty flat) & I tweaked something in one of the recoveries.

Plus, I'm probably 3 or 4 days behind schedule in getting contracts out to customers because I've been rolling solo on a lot of work & having to drive my daughter to get started on her GS cookie sales (her stretch goal is 2,000 individual boxes) until my wife can arrive from work.

    I'm beat to hell.

  3. FYI:

FOR ALL APPROVED INSURANCE CLAIMS, “

Texas law requires a person insured under a property insurance policy to pay any deductible applicable to a claim made under the policy. It is a violation of Texas law for a seller of goods or services who reasonably expects to be paid wholly or partly from the proceeds of a property insurance claim to knowingly allow the insured person to fail to pay, or assist the insured person’s failure to pay, the applicable insurance deductible.

That has to be on EVERY insurance claim contract for a property claim over $ 1,000.00 & it has to be in size 12 font, boldfaced.

  4. @drt, apologies for the late response.  @NeverMarryAStripper did get the situation correct.  Any item that you don't complete won't have any recoverable depreciation paid to you.

That said, a metal carport / patio / porch structure is typically going to be depreciated based on a 50 year expected lifespan.  Even if it's 40 years old & dirty / dingy, the dollars allocated by insurance is going to pay for a complete replacement & it's possible that in this "40 years old from a 50 yr lifespan" scenario, the bulk of the dollars to collect are going to be on the backside, i.e. once the work is completed.

My point is, don't write this off as a "take the money & run" just yet.

    Also, where are you located?

  5. Apparently I'm going against the grain here, but I'm a solid fan of Echo.  You'll commonly find the "CS" line.

Get high HP & don't go massive on the bar length.

I have had good luck with pawn shop finds; bring some oil & a can of pre-mixed fuel (the 50:1 Red Devil or whatever it is that Homer Despot sells) & visit a pawn shop to test one out if you like the overall looks of it.

Check the air filter & make sure the bar & chain combo isn't stuck or off.  Usually some good deals out there if you aren't skeered to negotiate a bit & offer a price in ca$h / no CC.

  6. Yes, I keep the second fob and the extra spare key.  You think I would give my wife two fobs?
How else is she going to put the spare set into her purse so she can lock that set in the vehicle along with the ones in the ignition?

Man, I don’t know you. But you are Aces in my book. My father broke me in 90 days.

Believe me, she's got me worked up on more than 1 occasion.  She has effed up her finances in a way that has me constantly having to pay for this, cover for that, fix a money situation... hell, just the other day she apparently lost the remainder of her thyroid Rx & a replacement bottle cost me $ 21 as the next script didn't get covered by her insurance until March.
There are some other prescriptions that for whatever reason aren't fully covered & it seems once a month I am shelling out $ 130 for this combined set.

She's played bingo @ their (weekly?  semi-weekly?) event & she sent a text 2 days ago "I need another roll of nickels".  It's bleeding me, a thousand tiny pin pricks.
