  1. Mom is moving to a senior apartment complex & scaling down.

She has this fold out faced secretary with a matching curio above it & she is considering selling it.

I think it probably dates to the 1920's, early 30's, not older. It has an Art Deco style to me, but obv. I could be way off. Def. not craftsman & looking @ the hinges & locks, I'm not thinking American Civil War or older.

    1. Any guesses (based on these limited # of pics) as to the age & style?

    2. Is it a set price to have someone come out or can this be done via pics (better detailed than these 2)?

Obv. the sale would be furniture only.

  2. My in-laws don't have any cats yet they consistently put the roll on backwards.

I'm always flipping it correct, I don't care if there's only 2 squares left or if I don't even have to use the shitter, I'll always fix that.

In 98, we missed the record-breaking Ricky game. But...our reward was several days of fly fishing in Patagonia, and our thanksgiving dinner was an all-evening long Argentine mixed parilla outside of Bariloche, on the banks of the Rio Limay: several types of fire-grilled beef, Patagonian lamb, sausages, etc. And lots of great Malbec to drink. It was a damned glorious meal. I recommend it. Ldogg, that’s what you would have sold them on. You could have that every year instead.

While quite a nice humblebrag, I was @ that game & still have very vivid memories of Ricky's run & the kick to seal the win over aggy... so marginally, I think I win.

  4. Skipped on the $ 200 pawn shop buy, got a new Mossberg Maverick 88 in a 20 ga. for $ 179.  I'll give the Remington used pawn buy to the boy & give the new Moss to the girl.

They are both getting pawn shop buy .22's in tube feed.

My wife is gonna be irritated because her Dad gave us a bolt action 20 ga. "for both kids to use", but for bird hunting that's stupidity defined & besides, how could both of them use it @ the same time?  Now back to my need for a gun cabinet... I'm thinking that since we will always have a combo trigger lock on all of them, I can go with a home built wooden cab. that locks & glass face + maybe one of those wire grids behind the glass.  That way I can provide my own spacing between guns & make the whole thing around 2 or 3" deeper for a better gap.

  5. I vote MIA.

This could actually be a very lucrative side gig for him (provided it doesn't interfere with his kayak outings).

Grizzled guy with a 3 day old scratchy unshaven face wearing a slightly mismatched suit with obvious ring around the collar, who may or may not be nursing a hangover to officiate your event, guarantees he will go to the reception (& might possibly need a ride over, you pay for his ride away), may or may not hit on some of the wimmenz, dance slightly inappropriately against the bride's mother & let forth a raunchy toast to the couple (so as to save the best man from that wretched duty).

Prob. a starting rate of $ 175 for a local (to Austin) gig, max 2.5 hours, no religious overtones other than the attendees saying "Oh god...".

I'm sure that is a business model that could get some legs.
