I was there with a couple of my boys. Beautiful service. Gov Abbott rolled up. Mayor Adler spoke too. He's a terribly boring speaker. Abbott is much more charismatic and a better communicator.

Did you notice that Adler is consistently touching & "smoothing" the paper he has  on the dias?

There is a digital TelePrompter that he's reading from & has the  papers as a backup, but it's obv. he has to keep his hands busy.

Monster got to meet the 4* Lieutenant General Murray for a short conversation; I should have taken a pic of them together, esp. since Gen. Murray was in the "Pinks & Greens" uniform.

Anybody attending the service today? News said he’s getting a chopper flyover, but there’s 4 fighter jets warming up for a flyover right now. Wonder if there’s been a change of plans or if he’s getting one at the funeral and also the memorial?

My son & I attended the memorial service today but not the burial.

Some of y'all (who haven't read the original Shag thread linked above) might recall that I brought the older members of our Cub Scout Pack (Bears, Webelos 1's & 2's) to meet Mr. Overton 4 years ago.

If you want the roof on your garage to leak then put the goal bracket up there.

Dude, my warranty expired around 1 or 2 years ago.  You're costing me business.

Srsly, though, the biggest problem isn't how you attach it (best way IMO would be to remove shingles & vapor barrier, remove some decking, reinforce the truss with added 2x6's blocked on & maybe even some running horizontal for the area above & below where the decking was removed then replace the decking. with another 2x6 set dead center in the middle  of your opening  Add 1, maybe even 2 layers of ice & water on the replaced decking & then new vapor barrier & new shingles.

Once you pre-drill your holes for the bolts (probably 2 sizes smaller than the bolts), add some heavy roof cement like Henry 505 (gunnable, 1 tube max) into each hole & then tap your bolts into the brackets.

The problem is the constant vibrations are going to cause the bolt holes to wiggle & eventually, you'll probably have small gaps that will permit water penetration & subsequently, rotted wood.

Get a driveway rig with the weighted base (add sand or water) on wheels; those are easier to adjust for height as the kid grows.  Plus, if you decide to sell... even if you don't have any problems with  it & everything is tight, maybe the buyer will see that roof mounted setup as an eyesore or a liability.

  4. If the US flag in the court room has gold fringe, strongly accuse The Court of being improper as that is the flag of the Admiralty & you, as a Sovereign Citizen, refuse to participate in that kind of unconstitutional court.

If, OTOH, the flag does NOT have gold fringe, tell them you refuse to participate because unless it is the flag of the Admiralty then there is no weight to the proceedings.  If they happen to then produce a gold fringed US flag, revert back to item # 1.

  5. Let's see:

    1.  I've never heard of anyone having to get a rabies shot because they touched a dead owl.

    2.  Bats eat mosquitoes, but they do this work somewhere else, i.e. I don't think they hang around your house specifically all night long.

    3.  Bats leave town when it's cold, so they aren't doing this bug work on a year 'round schedule.

    4.  Bats never did tell anyone how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop, did they?  Nope.

    5.  Owls could possibly get down on all outdoor cats, & apparently Shag don't like cats, so there's that.

    6.  Owls are just plain cool.

    7.  Has Owlvis voted yet?

  6. 1.  I have no idea what you were charged, but it would obv. cost more for time & parts to replace everything else on that slope.

    2.  I always inform my customers that there will be a difference in color.

NOTE:  Due to the age of the existing shingles & in combination the manufacturer's guidelines to not mix lot numbers & production runs, any new or replaced product will be obvious.

That's an example of the language I commonly insert into my estimates or contracts where we are only doing a small amount / area.

There's even 1 company, Atlas, that has an entirely different look to their shingle in the "Weathered Wood" color (every manufacturer has a W.W. color, but 2 of them don't look @ all like any other variety & Atlas' version is the most different looking).  Around 4 years ago Atlas totally changed their design for WW & you simply cannot get the same shingle any longer.

That said, give it 8 or 9 years & it will still look a bit different from the rest of the roof due to the original shingles aging to where they are now 17 or 18 years old vs. the recently installed ones only aging (& suffering algae) by 8 or 9 years.  Additionally, most shingle manufacturers are now doing an AR blend in their shingles (Algae Resistance) & that means the new shingles that you just had installed MAY (maybe, maybe not) have the AR thing & that would slow down the algae by around 5 or 6 years.
