  1. If you don't mention  that a fringed flag is that of the Admiralty & as such, means it is a kangaroo court that is invalid under the Constitution of the United States of America, then you are doing the rest of us a disservice & thus worthy of our scorn.

Gotdammit, you ARE a sovereign citizen!  If you don't defend your rights, you have doomed us all!

Second. Picking is last resort but no shame. It's like a good shit. If you produce a big one, you feel a real sense of accomplishment.

Among the most satisfying personal events one can experience, 2 of them are booger related:  A quality snot rocket (which is only eclipsed by a quality wet one in the shower & into your hand  where you can perform a post mortem & see what was going on in there) & digging out a long stringer that comes with what feels like a solid 12 inches of green slime that would put a Nickelodeon game show to shame & you have no idea in the world how you had been able to breathe before that..

  3. Got 1pm entry tickets for any Disney property, will do Magic Kingdom on the 1st day, still a tossup on Epcot or Animal Kingdom.  Cost is $ 89 / per head after all taxes (kids are considered "adult" purchase).

We are notoriously late sleepers on the weekend & when on vacation (unless I'm going fishing or hunting, etc) & this worked out well for us.

  4. Purchased the airfare via SW; a few pennies under $ 800.00 with all fees / taxes, etc.  For a family  of 4, R/T, that's nothing to complain about.

We've decided to bypass Universal & HP, will be doing Disney properties for 2 days.  Probably Magic Kingdom on 1st day, then down to Lauderdale via rental car for 2 days, then back up to Animal Kingdom or Epcot (there is spirited debate on which one to go to; I'm in favor of AK as I've never been & even though it's been 2 decades since I've done Epcot, AK came around after I moved to Texas.

Once in Lauderdale, we'll hit up South Port Raw Bar, Rattlesnake Jakes, do a drift boat out of Fishing Headquarters (Las Olas @ A1A), then head back to Orlando for 1 last Disney property.

  5. Asking some noob type questions, so please allow some carryover from the amnesty thread.

    1.  Is there such a thing as "the absolute best possible price point" to get park passes?  Lots of crap to sift through on the web & I doubt there is one specific best site & it's even possible there's not much of a REAL discount beyond a company program, AAA, etc.  Daughter wants to do the Harry Potter thing, badly, so it's on our agenda to try & get this as well.

    2.  We're looking @ arriving into Orlando late 15 Aug & depart 20th.  That gives us 16, 17, 18 & 19 August.  I imagine some of one day will probably be visiting family (Grandmother lived in Winter Park not far S from Rollins College / W side of Lake Virginia).  Might use that as a rest day if the wife's feet are hurting from the walking.

    3.  I've got a HS friend that lives in Altamonte Springs, 30 minute drive, so we'll probably stay @ his house.  Flight for 4 R/T is around $ 900, $ 950 if I book now.  Add rental & that's got us chasing the # 1 question, best possible pricing.

    4.  Back to Harry Potter, Universal, etc.  I imagine that's the most popular item & it's a "get there as the park opens or prepare for a 3 hour line" type thing?

I guess that's all I've got.  Not my preferred time of year to go, but it's what we have available.

I see that it is stenciled. So somebody turned out more than one of these at some point in the past. I could see some troops who were there going in on stencils and paint to give themselves bragging rights. I could also see some PT Barnum wannabe 25 years later doctoring surplus canteens to sell them.

The humorist Patrick F. McManus wrote in his book "A Fine & Pleasant Misery" about the Army / Navy surplus place up the road from him where he used to frequent as a kid & miraculously, they always had a steady supply of canteens that had suffered bullet holes from the Germans in WW II... & of course all the kids wanted those more than one that would actually hold water.

  8. A group of 3rd & 4th graders, accompanied by two female teachers, went on a field trip to the local racetrack to learn about thoroughbred horses & the supporting industry, but mostly to see the horses.

When it was time to take the children to the bathroom, it was decided the girls would go with one teacher & the boys would go with the other.  The teacher assigned to the boys was waiting outside the men's room when one of the boys came out & told her that none of them could reach the urinal.

Having no choice, she went inside to see what was going on & apparently this old racetrack was old & didn't have any updated facilities.   The only thing she could figure out was to help the boys with their pants & she began hoisting the little boys up one by one, holding on to their 'pee-pees' to direct the flow away from their clothes.

As she lifted one, she couldn't help but notice that he was unusually well endowed.  Trying not to show that she was staring the teacher said, 'You must be in the 5th grade.'

'No, ma'am', he replied. 'I'm riding Silver Arrow in the seventh race, but I appreciate your help.'
