I'm with @Lhorn - Do-it.jpg

I 100% guarantee your wife will be the biggest problem here.
If you have toddler clothes or a onesie that she bought for your college aged kids & she ABSOLUTELY knows it cost $ 15.00 new, she will want $ 12.00 for it, even though they are both over 10 years old now.
If you have a stuffed animal out there, your wife will wonder what the fuck it's doing out there because gawd knows, it's not going ANYWHERE, you motherfucker, & she doesn't give 2 shits if that asshole cat pissed all over it 14 years ago... she's had that fucking thing since she was 10 & got it @ Aquafest. Don't you know that they don't do Aquafest any longer? You sorry sonuvabitch, what the fuck is wrong with you??
& That blue Jeep Pack 'n Play? That thing had better sell for $ 75 or it's going back into the garage & that's the end of that.
...Or something like that.-

If you COULD somehow pair through to his device & knock him off of it, have an audio file ready to blast that says "Hey, asshole - can you PLEASE turn down the volume on your device or maybe put on a pair of headphones or ear buds & let everyone else enjoy their own music? In conclusion, fuck you, pal." Then disconnect as soon as it ends.

I think there's some offroading spots around Fredburg & Marble Falls.

Well, since you're up now I'll reset that text to go out now.
-
I will send you a text that has info on my installer; he lives in San Marcos but may possibly travel to you if the $$ is right (typically does his thing in front of his house & under a pop up canopy).
This is his kind of work (assuming a pic from FB will properly post up here):

He will discuss what kind of ride you have & make suggestions from the Crutchfield catalog or possibly even offsite to another retailer. This can be a "head" unit, amp, speakers, all 3... whatevs. Delivery is made to you & then y'all arrange a time & date for the install. I think @Steel Shank had him do an installation last year.
This guy doesn't use cheap ass butt connectors; he solders his connections & does competition quality installs. I'm scheduling the text, so you should get it in the AM.

Obv. BALOO is designed for everyone & that means it has to cover learning how to crawl with some touches on how to finish a marathon & lots in between. The idea is to know what to do when things happen & also to give some folks basic access to camping. You may (or may not) be surprised as to how many parents haven't ever put up even one tent. When I went through BALOO 4 or 5 years ago, it wasn't a camping weekend, only a 1/2 day gathering that ran from 0800 to around 1400.
Get signed onto Woodbadge NOW (assuming there is room) for this Fall; you will be in there with our incoming Scoutmaster who is absolutely the right guy for the position.

Am I the only one doing BALOO training this weekend and waiting on the non-existent rain storm that will flood us all?
I trained the Whittling Chip portion of BALOO this past Dec. & let me tell you, it was coooold. The Sacred Springs program was @ the tiny Kiwanis Park near 5 Mile Dam. Wet out there as well...
Now that I'm up in the Troop level, I only assist here & there in the Cub stuff. How was your experience? Go to some RoundTable events & get your knot!

Triple play right there.

Was I the only Shagger to attend today's GS-CTX Cookie Honors?
Roxette sold 1,784 boxes total (the program had her count off a minor amount). Either way, she got a walk.-

I think I may have reached a tipping point with my wife. Tipping into smarts vs. emotional, says I.
Q: "Hey, did you get me anything for Mother's Day?"
A: "Umm" [Spidey Sense tingling just a little bit, anticipating the trap has been laid] "No, not yet."
Her: "Get us a dryer. Whirlpool or Maytag." [ours is beat in a lot of crazy ways & is actually destroying clothes]
Me: [whips out phone, pulls up Home Depot app] "Well, let's see..."
This is the inverse of the "stupid shit they say & do", but it's not worthy of it's own thread.

As a Scout parent who is often out there with your cookie selling Daughter, it's difficult to restrain yourself from hogging the entire transaction. I have whittled myself down to only the occasional contribution for content or nudged my daughter to properly count ca$h back (she refuses to do it that way & I fear she will be the kind of zit faced high school aged fast food clerk that relies solely upon the register to t ell her what the change is).
But I do see the validity of your wife's concern provided she isn't bitchy about it to the Scout. Maybe she can coax the Scout into the transaction & engage the girl in some questions, whether it's about product or what the $$ is for, maybe ask about a patch on her vest / sash. Remember, you're not really buying the cookies, you're buying Scouts.

If you know an HVAC that doesn’t carry a fuck ton of capacitors around with him and several of the most common contacts in the service vehicle, I wouldn’t ask him what time it was. He’s obviously a dumb ass or a crook.
You're right, if the svc tech hits your stop the last on a 5 stop day, he should have planned ahead & kept 20 of the same product sitting in his truck. If not, then he's obviously stupid.

BTW, for anyone that does want an onsite service call, I have a guy that is licensed; he used to run a roofing crew for me & around 8 years ago he went to trade school for a year in the AC biz.
His bunch did Dallas houses for Baboso, B & a few others that I cannot recall. Locally, they did BriskeTexan's prior house off Northland.
Anyhow, he's been working for others since then & is wanting to 100% get his own gig moving along - I have had him out for 2 people over the last 9 months or so & he's done good work for them. Send me a PM if you want some info.

youtube is your friend with home repairs.
Absolutely. But that doesn't answer my question about where we would go to get parts ( @gsoda3 did respond with an option) & if they would assist a dork @ the counter.
-
Where in the Austin area can an average plebe such as I go for AC specific parts?
Will the counter sales people tolerate stupid questions from the masses while they sell us a $ 20.00 item? Can they test the stuff to see what our problem actually is? -
@abuelo gringo, you're in my neighborhood.

ha. I like him as a friend but he's a sucker. He's the guy that signs up for the "free" inspection services and always buys what they're selling. He always falls for the line that buying ______ increases the home value. Even when he's not planning to sell for 5-10 years.
So, um... would he by any chance be interested in an investment in gold? Guaranteed* return of 18% or more.

Having a Garage Sale Tomorrow Morning

My wife's grandmother got infirm & had to be placed in a nursing home. That's when my wife's niece moved into the house with her family of 5 & started having yard sales & was selling off all the knick-knacks & shit that collects dust from over 45 years of living in the same house. Crap the niece had no attachment to because 1) she is a millennial who is much more about experiences then 'things' & 2) she didn't grow up in that house & isn't invested in that great grandmother.
& THIS is where my wife started going apeshit because it was like small, tiny parts of her childhood that my wife also considers to be highly collectible if they were properly marketed [via eBay or whatever] were being given away for nearly free.
So I have that going for me as my wife borders on hoarderism. Me, I am primarily interested in tool acquisition & not shit to hang on the walls or decorate with.
