  1. No, no, no. Agents typically respond with a lazy "Call & get 3 estimates from roofing contractors". That's a waste of our time. Have the customer get at least ONE estimate to start & move forward from there. Another waste of time is when actually filing a claim (when determined to be valid) is to go through the agent's office. The agent then calls in, gets a claim #, then returns contact with the insured & provides them with the exact same information the insured could get from their portal, website, app or a direct phone call.
  2. You DO know I have plenty of metal roof panels that would prob. fit your needs. No charge, you come & get (78620).

  5. Your best revenge is to stick him with an unpaid parking ticket & run the Houston tolls in his name. Obviously.
  6. I'm married, so... I will let you ponder that one
  7. The hardest part is when they DO recognize that it is a problem, they CAN actually do something about it / not take it out on you... ...but they don't give a shit & everyone suffers while your kids are becoming trained to think this is normal behavior. Yay me
  8. The only part missing about your .gif is my "¿¿¿Whatttt???" comment before I gave her that exact same look.
  9. Wife tonight: "Do you need to show proof of insurance to buy new tires?"

    Measles

Having been a 25 year resident of Broward County (Fort Lauderdale & adjacent cities), this outbreak hits close to home where I have lots of connections that live within 5 miles of this particular outbreak. & Where in the Bible does it mention vaccines? This "religious exemption" bullshit is asinine.
  11. That's actually a good thing; she would probably open them by cutting down on the vinyl.
  12. I was informed by my wife tonight that the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band "is not a C&W band."
  13. My Mom left me a voicemail message to tell me she was sending a text. 🤦‍♂️
  14. Carriers exiting California & Florida want to enter the chat.
  15. Jar Jar, is that you? SayWhaaaat?.jpg
  16. I wont mention any names (don't bother sending a PM), but I have had 3 Shaggers who were on this track. Additionally, there are customers who see that final depreciation check & get dollar signs in their eyes. It was the Storm Chasers who were throwing out ""free roof" back when deductibles were $ 500 & it didn't take long for homeowners to get conditioned to "I get a free roof"; word got around fast. Then insurance companies saw the ratio of claims going up & *poof* insurance companies started with 1% deductibles to put more of the financial burden back on property owners. Far too many homeowners think of a roof as something insurance has the exclusive responsibility to pay for when in reality, outside of a covered peril (high wind, hail) this is a homeowner maintenance issue. I get people consistently who filed a claim for a tree rub & while that's not the insurance company's responsibility, if they had not wasted the IC's time it wouldn't raise costs across the board. We all need IC's to remain solvent so when valid claims ARE filed the ability to be paid appropriately is there.
  17. @CleverNickname, call around to the pawn shops on 183. I think there are maybe 3 within reasonable distance from you. Also, have you considered maybe a metal cap for the hole? Keep rain out (I don't know what your current cover is like)... & what are you doing for overall "attractive nuisance" issues re: kids?
  18. 99.9% correct. If there is any recoverable depreciation to collect, then there IS a requirement to show proof of deductible being paid prior to insurance sending out the depreciation payment. I have extensively discussed this in one or two other threads here on Shag². https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/IN/htm/IN.707.htm
  19. We ain't in Reno & I didn't die.
