  1. My 1st ever Chuys experience was in Van Horn in like 1985 or 1986 (haley comet year). I loved it as a 9 year old. Can't say anything about it now.

    Vinyl

Alright... thinking about going down this vinyl road. For a player, any prime deals that I should jump at? I played them as a kid in 80s. Haven't dabbled since. I don't have a stereo.
  3. The problem with those commitment threads is that the gatekeepers won't allow critical discussion about that player and it becomes a celebration thread. If you were allowed to comment about how shitty someone is there, maybe we wouldn't be so surprised when he turns out to be shitty when he is here.
  4. I'm a big Jerry Cantrell fan. Wrote most of the AIC stuff, sang in the later albums, and has done some out of the box solo work. And his willie cover...
  5. Live in Phoenix currently and love it but wouldn't want to retire here unless I would be getting a summer place in the white mountains or flagstaff (which is the plan). It's hot as hell right now and I've learned to love that but it can be a little tiresome when you don't even want to leave the house. Lived in Albuquerque, I don't recommend it unless you put yourself in a bubble. It's not terribly big but it's easy to get into some sketchy areas. The weather can and will take some crazy turns. Snow one day and 60s the next. Awesome but unpredictable t storms. I don't know how much the entertainment has improved since I was last there. Isotopes and UNM basketball were the only sports (maybe a minor league hockey or soccer).
  6. Good call. The addition of a battery and the lack of use of a tone knob turned me off of EMG's. The cleans are lacking. I can't put into words, it just doesn't sound like you would want it. The Fishmans have really stepped up from what I have heard and you can get a Heafy epiphone with coil splitting (among other guitars) but I personally haven't tinkered with them to get a real feel if they can play anything besides metal.
  7. I've had both the 81/85 and 81/60 EMG sets. 81/60 was far better IMO. Definitely can hear the differences. With that said, I haven't cranked it in a live setting to know how it will sound and I prefer a seymour duncan JB (I don't have a JB in my neck of my LP, it's a 57 classic) passive set. I am a metal (classic, modern, nu) player.
  8. I'm not a homemade tortilla guy but I'm on a big health kick and Siete Almond Flour tortillas are pretty close to the real thing and lower calories. They are kind of expensive in Sprouts or whole foods but a 20 pack at Costco is a lot more reasonable.
  9. Sally's cookies won't eat themselves.
  10. I still own wade Townsend in my Dynasty league hoping one day he puts it together.
  11. I think the thought exercise comes from a place where you listened to bands and they started to suck and you say to yourself "I only listen their old shit now" and you are mentally over them and accept they are never the same band. Then they hit on a album out of the blue and you absolutely are floored about the resurgence. Bon jovi kind of did this during their "It's my life" era.
  12. For flagstaff breakfast... go to Martannes.
  13. One caveat, if you can't get on the back patio, it is not the same experience if you are indoors. Forgot to add The Hudson.
  14. They have plenty of shuttles to different view points at GC at south rim. Expect it to be really busy. Park downtown flag and walk to the multiple breweries. Cornish Pasty has a lot of Vegan options. Sedona I can't tell you too much about vegan but do book Elote if you can. Check for reservations today. Creekside and hideaway house have great shady views. Dahl and DeLuca is good. Sedona brewing company has real nice patio views as well.
  15. I first thought of Jakeem Grant. Not sure if an apt comparison or not... just the first guy that came to me.
  16. If the previous 5 albums were panned and they broke out a good one...I would say that were past their prime.
  17. I never followed them. How long in between?
  18. I was jamming (poorly) with a friend and playing For Whom the Bell Tolls, laughing at how bad modern Metallica is. Then the conversation changed to great albums from bands past their prime. I had a really hard time coming up with many. I really like The Division Bell but not sure if that is "great".
  19. Zac Efron does well in every role he is cast in.
  20. Dude she does have the crazy eyes. You might be onto something.
  21. Man I just don't know what to tell you guys. Keep pushing for them. I'm sure you have done your part by going down on them more than enough times to justify the occasional BJ. I guess I'll just keep taking night showers and getting blow jobs every once in a while.
  22. No way I can go to bed without a shower. And I work from home so I'm good without a morning shower I shower at night because it increases me having sex with my wife by 1000%. She isn't giving me a BJ after a long day in my underwear.
  23. My Sam ash is about a minute away from my house. Been going for 14 years I've lived in the neighborhood. About a week ago I asked one of the employees why the wall was looking a little thin and he made a comment about not taking on trades because they were consolidating and Phoenix was getting new inventory from the closing locations. Oops...wonder if he knew or that was the line given. I have gotten to know many of them over the years.... lot of turnover but a few that have stood the test of time. The service guitar tech is/ was Brent Gutierrez. Used to make or maybe still does make his Gutierrez guitars. Good dude.
