  1. Lol. So they watched the pitcher's body language, and may have seen differing grips or release points which gave them clues about the pitch. Shocked that people who get paid millions of dollars to hit baseballs would do this since every other hitter for any other team closes their eyes up until the pitcher releases the ball. Also, you should probably look at last year's playoff box scores. The Astros played too tense and were pressing too much in the playoffs, if anything.
  2. Usually there are 2 travel days in both series. And in the regular season, days off are usually travel days too. For a neutral site series during a pandemic, I think its better to just play them all with no days off. Especially if the only reason for the off days is to rest pitchers.
  3. Nah. Montas pitched today and had a 5.60 ERA. Fiers was a pussy. As manager was a pussy too for not putting him out there. He had 11 starts this year. Tied for the most starts on the team with 3 other starting pitchers.. We played them 5 games in a row in the regular season too. Somehow his spot in the 5 man rotation went missing then too. I could understand if it was the NL. But in the AL nobody can throw at him. He's just afraid to face the people he did wrong.
  4. That shift on Olsen was crazy. You'd think an MLB level hitter would just slap it over there with light contact, but you hardly ever see anyone even try to do that.
  5. I'd rather have Greinke batting than Gurriel at this point.
  6. There is almost no motion in the background. The trees are nearly static other than the occasional digital artifact. Donald's hair is completely static. He ain't really outside.
  7. They are sticking to objective science and medicine. Trump's actions have exacerbated the outbreak. You're confusing objectivity with fence sitting. Anthropologists in Nazi Germany could have objectively said Hitler was wrong about the Jews. So you're falling into the trap that Trump wants you to fall into. Don't fence sit between right and wrong. The positions of white supremacists don't deserve equal airtime. Nor do the positions of science deniers. Both are objectively wrong.
  8. On the bright side, that inning should have been way worse. But nobody is going to score anymore now that the shadow is over the plate.
  9. To be fair, ball 4 was a strike.
  10. You know its impossible to walk back anything that expands the military industrial complex.
  11. Yeah I know. Its just his adjustments are more noticeable than everyone else's.
  12. Springer is making every popup to him seem like an adventure.
  13. Well, he is throwing strikes I guess.
  14. Yep. And really, watching the Dodger and Yankee fanbases cry so much about it has become an added bonus.
  15. Man, if James could learn a little bit of control, he'd be something. He hits 99 without even looking like he is giving it any effort.
  16. Seriously. That was one of the worst at bats ever until he went yard. Should have been a 4 pitch walk.
  17. That ball didn't hit the ground?
  18. Diaz! And right as I was bitching about him swinging at garbage.
  19. Yep, but that was a lazy ass throw. They should have gotten him.
  20. Does it really take him 4 minutes to write one of his nonsensical tweets? This post took me like 15 seconds to write.
  21. No, but the attack machine doesn't need to have any truth to it. It is designed to make people tired of the individual who is being attacked. And it has been super effective against women, but less effective against men. Talk radio listeners already hate AOC more than Biden. They hate Michelle Obama more than they hate Barak. They hate Pelosi more than Schumer or Biden even though all 3 are geriatric politicians. And even with Hillary, it was still bullshit. Trump is far more shady than the Clintons. And the attacks worked on Hillary better than they worked on Bill and better than attacks have worked on Biden because Hillary is a woman. Hell, Hillary was also attacked effectively because her husband cheated on her and she "let" him.
  22. The attacks on Hillary had been going on for decades and had a huge effect. The GOP machine has tried to play a similar game with Biden using Hunter Biden and a handful of other things, but they have largely missed their mark. For the GOP vitriol machine to truly work, it needs to start at least 10 years before the race. I expect that if AOC ever runs for President, she'll get the Hillary treatment because she is already under a heavy attack of bullshit. Of course, it could also be a matter of misogyny. Women in the Democratic party are under near constant attack from their very first day on the job. The men, especially older white men like Biden, are able to play the "good ole boy" game and don't really get attacked all that much until they try to go national. You can also see this in the treatment of Pelosi versus others like Hoyer or Schumer.
  23. Mississippi is one of those states that would be close to flipping if black disenfranchisement wasn't still occurring at Jim Crow levels and if black voters who manage to get registered and stay registered actually turned out to vote. I could only find pre-Trump 2014 numbers, so I imagine it is a little bit more skewed now. But having more white voters trend toward Trump and more black voters trend toward Dems, the changes could have evened themselves out. White MS voters are 65% Rep, 22% Dem, 13% No Lean Black MS voters are 76% Dem, 12% Rep, 12% No Lean With higher turnout, that might have had Obama beating Romney in MS in 2012.
  24. Maybe. A significant number of covid hospital recoveries would have died if we were living in the Spanish Flu era. But also, the Spanish Flu was far more deadly for healthy young and middle aged adults than covid seems to be, and this demographic largely hasn't been hospitalized or treated when it gets covid. But there are also a lot of other variables. Americans are more obese than we used to be, but we are also breathing cleaner air, so maybe some of the only "slightly ill" people with CV would have also been hospitalized if they had grown up breathing early 1900s industrial air pollution. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2769236 NYC's excess mortality during the SF and CV outbreaks are comparable. However, CV did hit unprepared vulnerable demographics particularly hard in NYC. And there also hasn't been a CV second wave in NYC yet. Hopefully, there isn't one. In addition to better medicine, social distancing and quarantine guidelines are better understood.
  25. Is it really "their" stadium though? 2-2 vs the Astros and 1-2 vs the Red Sox. Its a neutral site, at best. If the Astros manage to make it to the WS, I'd rather it be at Dodger Stadium than at the Arlington Tractor Supply. Even if the Dodgers are in it.
