And it would be a crime. However, it would not invalidate the pardon, the President would need to be removed from office in order to charge him with that crime, and that crime would also be pardonable by the next President.
The President could literally go on Fox News and say "I pardoned rich white collar criminal in federal prison because he paid me ten million dollars." The pardoned criminal will walk. The House can take up impeachment proceedings. The Senate can, but won't, remove him. Even if they do, they will need to remove Pence first if Pence made his own pardon deal with Trump.
The inability to self incriminate is an interesting twist, but I still think that potential state charges are the only thing plugging the leak in the dam.
It doesn't extend to that. The reasoning for Presidential pardons does not matter. Constitutionally, Trump can pardon everyone he wants to, resign before Biden's inauguration and have Pence pardon him. He could even pardon any number of traitors and terrorists currently in federal prison if he so desires. Ordinarily, pardoning traitors would result in impeachment/removal, but Trump could probably get away with it. He could absolutely get away with pardoning a white supremacist terrorist tomorrow. Guaranteed. But I'd bet he could pardon an islamic terrorist without Senate repercussions as well if he really wanted to.
State charges are the only thing that holds the line.
Also, Bannon is getting a pardon. Probably after the election, but possibly before it. Pardons will be for sale on the open market once Trump goes lame duck.
Had a flu shot every year for over a decade. In that 15ish year period, I got a phantom light sickness for a week afterward only twice. I skipped it two years ago because duane reade didnt take my insurance, and got sick as a dog with the actual flu that year. So went out of my way to get a flu shot last year. And will this year too.
Yep. Tuve had a couple power hitter years, but he isn't a power hitter. He can get a bat on anything. He needs to be more Ichiro than McGwire. Stop swinging for the fences and slap it into play.
Its the standard Republican MO even though Trump is like the steroid version of it.
1) Yell X government agency is shitty! (Even though X government agency is mostly fine, but inefficient or underfunded)
2) Get power and make X government agency as shitty as possible.
3) Yell, see I told you it was shitty! I was right, look how shitty it is! Lets give its funding to the DoD instead so it can buy a few more thousand dollar hammers with no oversight.
In a perfect world, it would be ideal to vote by mail during a pandemic. And in the future, if we still have a viable nation, mail and remote voting should become the norm anyway.
But for this election, I will crawl through a field of broken coronavirus syringes to go to the polls if I have to.
No. These dumb citizenship "questions" never even try to hide their racist intent. It isn't even about her being a Dem. Its entirely racist. Had she been born to Scandinavian parents here on student visas, you wouldn't see a word written about it. Same with Obama.
Maybe her mom had a C section too so we can question "natural born."
We are into open fascism now.
This election is shaping up to be one for the ages. One last shot at preventing Civil War or Revolution 2.0.
Also, Bezos should offer to distribute ballots in swing states for free.
Yeah, they are usually built on the edge of the zip code anyway, but zip codes are also gerrymandered based on historic boundaries and they rarely ever change even when town mergers and population growth occur.
I have a post office about 1,000 feet from me. I have to walk past it to get to the subway, and then take the subway to get to my post office. But I live near a pre-merger border in NYC and the zip code map reflects that. It makes sense historically, but not logistically. Incidentally, around me, this isn't unique to USPS. The closest FedEx and UPS shipping and pick up facilities also don't serve my zip code.
