  3. How many bloody mary's will I be able to down before I'm forced to use the stadium's shitter?
  4. 100%. This was the exact vibe I got while visiting both campuses with my son last year, and it kind of freaked me out. I was all ready to be on board with him being an aggie, and I was ok with that. With UT having to limit enrollment due to population constraints, all those kids who wanted to be longhorns are switching over to a&m. Thus diluting the "cult" perception. From a hiring perspective, a&m cranks out alot of solid engineers. They simply have more numbers. Buddy of mine's son got CAPd at UT for CNS last year for CompSci. Instead of going to UTSA or UTD for a year, he told them to f off and went to a&m.
  5. Natural Sciences college is in high demand because of the computer science majors. CS grads are getting graduating with $100k salaries...One of my son's friends who was Top 5%, 1500+ on SATs , yadda yadda, get Cap'd at UT CS. So he chose aggieland instead. Proud of my boy, he got accepted last year into ChE. He was Top 13%, 1400+ on SATs. I'd like to think it was his essays and such that got him in. An article was recently put out that said UT Austin did expand their enrollment numbers to record levels. And may be doing so again this year. So maybe UT is starting to get the message again. But the housing crunch is real, and I'm glad the boy got a dorm space. UT is very up front about not caring about placement and scores. They know all applicants are straight A students with high SAT scores. They really key in on the written responses to find the ones who stand out. And frankly, UT had the worst level of messaging about this, compared to every other college we talked to. They gave off the coldest vibe about being there for the students than UTD, a&m, ttech & USC did. So take that for what it's worth. My recommendations in no particular order: Do not ride your kid to apply. If you're finding yourself having to force them to do so, it may be a sign that they're not ready, as you will not be there to ride them during college. Hiring an admissions consultant to ride them on their various preparatory milestones may be better. Like it or not, tons of their peers are already doing so. We did put him through the Princeton SAT course, already knowing that SATs were going to be defocused. My reasoning was, I'm happy to spend $2k if it helps him become a better student. Have your kid attend every on-campus, learning session, etc for whatever college/university they are considering. Those brownie points do add up, and tells the college they really are interested. And finally, go over the written responses with them before submitting. We found even our consultant was lacking in that department. We did take glory in watching the counselor go from "there's no way in hell your son is going to get into UT" to "wow, I do not know how that happened." Best of luck

    Well, it now has AIDS
  8. Probably not as much as you'd expect. Shit will just shift, and the change will be slow. What I see is for the past 1-2 years, workers actually had the upper hand for a very short while...with demand/salary increases due to labor shortages coming out of the pandemic lock down. So companies were spending at all costs. Now that demand is softening, companies have the upper hand and are starting to clamp back down on costs. You think the Big3 are going to give back what was gained from their buyout? Fuck no. You want more pay? Work longer. World-wide layoffs are coming as demand continues to soften. It will build upon itself. And corporations will continue to push for higher margins throughout the "downturn" they have created. This strike is actually well-timed from the corporations' point of view. Strike will prolong, Big3 will cut production, suppliers will in turn cut their production, leading to rapid cost cutting and layoffs in the supplier space. I'm sorry, but the workers ain't gonna win. They've never "won", so why expect anything different?
  9. buddy of mine just got me this huge molcajete. Now I gotta figure out how to season this thing. Looks like I'm in for a long week of soaking and grinding (giggity)
  10. that's the pic of two motherfuckers losing their jobs tomorrow.
  11. Boom, here I am. Yes, was very tense at the onset, but we held fast and powered thru the rest of the game. What I liked the most was how we methodically marched down the field numerous times. Pushing these Bama fucks around at will. Can't wait for us to hang 50 on the sooners.
  12. I'm allowed to have emotions. But hey, this is why we have message boards. Fantastic win tonight. Haven't seen anything like this since Vince & Co. at the Shoe.
  13. still too soon motherfucker
  14. but count me in as one who also has knotted panties....
