Damn, I guess I'll be taking an after-lunch nap. I plan on arriving about 5 too. Hopefully the possibility of rain will shorten the line some. Thanks for the information.
Email from the COO this morning.
Team-
As most of you have seen, next Monday’s forecast looks cloudy and rainy for most of central Texas that day. Obviously, this will impact the viewing of the eclipse.
After speaking with <owner>, it doesn’t make sense to cancel work for next Monday, and have our productivity fall behind by a full-day.
Plan on coming into the office that day, please.
Sorry for the late notice, but it just doesn’t make sense to be off that day.
Followed by all the hens in the office congregating complaining about how shitty this all is and how much the company sucks. I'm chuckling along because I knew what it was.
He sent this out about an hour later.
April Fools!
I'm surrounded by idoits.
I just found out my vacation day was cancelled… because the office is going to be closed for the eclipse. So cool that my boss decided to close the doors on the 8th rather than have half the employees off that day.
Cutting them off is the lazy way of doing it. If they go that route, I'm curious what else they cut corners on. Our standard practice to remove the whole post and take out all of the old concrete before setting the new posts with all new concrete. Typical is to use the same post holes. If the posts have to move, (fence changes from vertical to horizontal or vice versa or you decide to go with a different layout) we then fill in the old holes with the dirt coming out of the new holes.
@FirstTimeCaller Yeah, cost of materials really jumped up during Covid and have stayed high. Prices on treated materials seem to have fallen some but cedar is still outrageous. The offer to answer any questions is still out there for anyone that needs help with their fencing needs. I love Surly and am willing to help you guys where ever possible even if you don't use the company I work for.
Thanks for the recommendation @Hornbeliever
@FirstTimeCaller Give Austex Fence and Deck a chance. We do really good work. Hit me up with any questions regardless of company you decide to use. Call 512-258-5000 so we can set up an appointment with one of our salesmen.
