I’m fine to go to 16 with 7ish auto bids for the conferences. Winning your conference should mean something. If FBS is a 130+ school thing but none of the bottom 80 have even a chance to win a title, what are we even doing here.
16 means no byes so a top seed—who earned the right—gets to play a Tulane type team. But you still need to win the same number of games as everyone else in the postseason to win.
PK turned in an average season that got wobbly at the end, with the defense really struggling with Taafe out. Taafe is now graduating.
Muschamp has a higher ceiling but if he doesn’t haven’t it anymore, the floor is probably lower than PK’s. Recruiting probably gets boosted. I don’t mind moving on.
The seeding was different last year, as the top conference winners were guaranteed a bye. Otherwise Boise would’ve probably been the 12 seed, and the G5 will almost certainly be the 12 moving forward in the current system.
Dykes won with Patterson’s players, Klieman retired. Okie State in full rebuild. Cincy has Scott Satterfield. Utah just lost its coach. Deion is going to have to overhaul again. Leopold seems like he topped out. Iowa State replaced its coach. WVA has a ton of limitations. AZ seems a step behind ASU. Baylor kept Aranda.
Believe me I’m no ASU honk. But after Tech and BYU they seem like they’re in the best shape right now
It’s the Big 12. Seems like after Tech threw down the money gauntlet, the rest of conference is in flux year to year. AZ State seems like the best candidate to keep a foothold in that top 3 range considering the coaching turmoil at Utah and KState.
