  1. Initials were AC. Let’s see if @Pescado_Rojo and I are Eskimo brothers.
  2. ND game ended with my soon to be fiancée taking me to the emergency room to get my eye soon back together. I’m gonna go with that as my lowest point.
  3. Should also add my willingness to tip at counter service restaurants is 100% influenced by the attractiveness of the worker.
  4. Probably the same one I went out with a few times.
  5. Counter service where everything is DIY: no tip Takeout from a full service restaurant where you pick up the order at the bar and someone bagged it up nicely:$5 Curbside: the greater of 15% or $5 Dine in at a full service restaurant: 20-25%, maybe more if the service is exceptional, which doesn’t happen very often these days. The thought of tipping at a tire repair shop made me spit out the water I was drinking.
  6. Of course he’s pro-life, he needs the pool of potential victims to be as large as possible.
  7. That it was a policy in the first place is the problem. This wasn’t some accident or accounting error. it was a deliberate action to steal from his employees as punishment for getting stuck in a traffic jam on the way to work. He wrote it down, looked at it, and thought it was totally cool. He is not sorry for taking their money, he’s sorry he got caught. I will give my $100 for lunch for 2 to someone else the next time I’m in town as there is no shortage of options. I’ve not been there before, don’t know the people, and have no love for their product built up over multiple visits. I understand that those factors might play a role in someone’s choice to go there or not. As an aside, I miss the days of getting a 2 meat plate for $15.
  8. Dad has filing cabinets that span the length of one side of the garage. I was curious one day when I was over there, so I opened one of the drawers and there were bank statements from before I was born. I’m 48.
  9. I’m not the biggest hockey fan, but I’ll try to play along. You can get 2 minutes for high sticking, 5 minutes for fighting, or if you walk up behind a guy and hit him in the back of the head with your stick the ref can just send you to the locker room for the rest of the night, and the league can impose a lengthy suspension.
  10. I believe the confusion stems from the fact that when you stop in West, TX while traveling on 35, you just say let’s stop and pick up some kolaches. You get some with fruit, some with sausage, and throw them all in the same box and take them home. That’s how they got lumped together under the singular kolache name.

  12. He was never very good at them, but it had zero effect on his basketball ability.
  13. Send me a link as well. I’ve not seen this before and would like to.
  14. It’s not a hissy fit. I’m not out in front of his restaurant picketing him. I vote with my wallet, and I chose not to give my money to known shitheads and borderline criminals when there are non-shithead/criminal options of similar quality. I’m in Austin 2-3 times per year, so I doubt my choice will have a whole lot of impact on the bottom line over there. If there are enough people like me who live in Austin, maybe he should consider being a less shitty human. Apologizing when it goes public doesn’t make you a less shitty human, it’s damage control.
  15. It’s got an early 90’s Austin vibe with better restaurants, plus all of the historical shit, and the ocean.
  16. It’s badass. Go.
  17. It can be pretty miserable in July and August. Uber instead of walking fixes most of that, but part of the charm of the place is that it’s incredibly walkable, and I don’t care to be sweaty when eating at a nice restaurant. 95 with 90% humidity gets you pretty sweaty pretty quickly. The other 10 months of the year it’s near perfection.
  18. Probably the best putting display I have seen since Crenshaw was putting on a couple of green jackets.
  19. +1. It was on my short list of places to eat the next time I’m in Austin. Plenty of other places with great bbq.

  21. Sounds like a couple of miserable fucking jobs.
  22. Been within five feet of a great white as well. Trying to pet it never occurred to me. I’ve apparently lived a sheltered life.
