  1. I felt like the story got a bit repetitive in some of the early books but overall I have really enjoyed this series as well. The 1st 3 seasons of the BBC/Netflix series have done a good job of adapting the books.
  2. I. Conclusions 65. HORNET did, in spite of admitted deficiencies in machinery arrangement, survive extreme punishment to the hull. The fact that damage from three torpedo hits, four bombs and two plane crashes did not result in sinking Is impressive. Despite such punishment, the hull was still in condition to allow towing from the scene of action if the tactical situation had permitted. In an attempt to sink HORNET, destroyers fired 369 rounds of 5" ammunition into the hull and a number of torpedoes. This still did not result in immediate sinking and HORNET was left "blazing furiously and in a slowly sinking condition". HORNET'S resistance to damage, as well as YORKTOWN's, exceeded reasonable expectations.
  3. Pretty good double feature last night with Lawrence of Arabia and Bridge on the River Kwai on back to back
  4. Workmanlike 2 points for the Stars tonight. There had to be less than 1000 people in that lower bowl seating including the teams' personnel and broadcasters.
  5. Saw it in Southlake and standard is the right choice. I really enjoyed this. Jackson mentioned, in the after credits feature, that he had a lot of air and naval footage but chose to focus on the ground war. I wonder how much interest there would be in additional films about those 2 areas of the war.
  6. Now that was a quality win! Weird ass schedule to play in Nashville on Saturday and then back in Nashville again on Thursday.
  7. We have a 9 year old lab/rottweiler mix. Sweetest and smartest dog we have ever had. Her favorite thing in the world is playing fetch with her ball. Well we were in the back yard last weekend and she was doing her thing and loving every minute of it. After about 15 minutes she starts limping pretty good on her left front leg/foot. We check her out and find a partially split claw and figure that was it and trim it up. Couple of days later she is no better so my wife runs her down to the vet. They immediately get x-rays done saying these breeds are very prone to bone cancer. Results showed no signs of cancer (thank God) but did show arthritis in 2 joints so the vet says no running or jumping for a week and then limit that type of activity going forward. The sad looks on her face when she drops her ball at my feet and I don't pick it up and toss it up the stairs are hard to take.
  8. The Stars need a top 6 scoring forward so of course they acquire a 3rd pairing d-man to replace Mark freaking Methot. The same Mark Methot we traded a 2020 2nd round pick for and who will have played 45 of a possible 164 games when his 2 years in Dallas are up, including a total of 9 this year.
  9. Just the type of speed, possession d-man Montgomery wants to play his style. There seems to be a real disconnect between how Montgomery wants to play and the roster Nill provides for him.
  10. Seems like there was noise about cherry being pissy over not being able get the jersey # he wanted...strong mental eval
  11. When are the color changes projected to happen?
  12. Just got home from Southlake - Duncanville. A few observations: Mickens - Played exclusively at WR for at least the 2nd game in a row. I have seen Southlake several times this year and he has played very little safety. Slot corner when he has played on defense but primarily has played WR. Talk on the Southake side is that he has a bit of a shoulder ding but hard to evaluate as a DB since he barely played there Thompson the 2020 safety from Duncanville is a 17 year old grown ass man. Looked to be about 6'2" and 210. Plays primarily near the LOS as almost a LB. Damn near killed the Southlake RB TJ McDaniel {pretty decent HS RB going to SMU} in the 1st half. I love HS stars who cover kicks and he ran down on every Duncanville kickoff. Jackson the 2020 QB for Duncanville is a guy you want to have the ball in his hands. The few times Southlake got Duncanville behind the sticks everybody in the building knew he would make a play. He really did a good job of not forcing throws when Southlake covered receivers. Several times he made throws on the run after breaking the pocket. Southlake was so concerned about him running they dropped coverage when he left the pocket and left receivers wide open down the field. He would be an ideal QB prospect if we want to continue the Ohio Sate power run game offense As noted above this was the 1st time this year Southlake played somebody with elite athletes. And Duncanville has them in waves. Southlake is the epitome of the maxed out Texas high school kids. They ran into an athletic well coached buzz saw today and got destroyed.
  13. That is Derrick Johnson level high school film on defense.
  14. i did not get to pay close attention to team news this past week but how was Gary Johnson eligible to play in the 1st half after being ejected for targeting in the 1st half last week?
  15. Really impressed with how well schooled those Hawaii kids are in all aspects of the game. =Two earned runs in the 5 games of the tournament. That kid that pitched today threw hard enough but his command was superb. =Every at bat their kids competed. When most LLWS teams have one of their 4 foot 10, 87 pound kids at the plate you can pretty well assume they are overmatched and a strikeout will come quickly. Hawaii did not donate a single at bat all day today. Every kid that went to the plate had aggressive swings. =Tremendous defense for the entire tournament. Routine plays really were routine. Tough plays were made to look a lot easier than they were =They knew they were good but were not arrogant about it. It is easy to enjoy what you are doing when you are really good at it but they played the game with smiles on their faces even during tight moments/games Congrats on a well earned title!!
  16. "Steven “Steveyj” Javaruski, one of the gamers, told the Los Angeles Times that the shooter was a competitor in the tournament who lost. Javaruski said he saw the shooter kill two or three people before shooting himself."
  17. Any news on when season 3 of Last Kingdom will be released?
  18. If Wilson wants to stick with a school that was sold to him by a lying ass, wife beating assistant coach and a head coach with a habit of covering up anti-social, criminal behavior at every school he works at, then he can live with his shitty choice.
  19. Yes what the Knights accomplished this year was unprecedented, but they must have a really empty feeling right now.
  20. There is no reason a pitcher ever needs to throw a pitch in the strike zone to Odor. Absolutely no plate discipline.3 breaking balls in the dirt and he strikes out. I would much rather see IKF at the plate in a big situation.
  21. I like the idea of a relentless, puck possession plan of attack. It will be interesting to see what direction they go on assistant coaches.
  22. Bump - can't let this thread fall off the 1st page
  23. man Claudio has just been bad this year
  24. If the price to bring in Earl Thomas is in fact a 2 and a 4 then I can definitely see a trade down to grab extra picks coming.
  25. Clearly they are absolutely pumped to be there
