Here's one of my annual SB dishes:
1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 lb. chorizo
1 large onion, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
salt
2 cans (1 lb each) refried beans (one spicy one regular)
1 can (4 oz.) chopped green chiles
12-16 oz. shredded cheese
3/4 cup green sauce (taco or salsa)
3/4 cup red sauce (taco or salsa)
3/4 cup chopped black olives
1. In a large skillet cook the ground beef and chorizo until light
brown. Add the onions and cook until softened. Drain and season with
the hot pepper sauce. Set aside to cool.
2. In a deep 9x13 baking dish, spread the refried beans over the
bottom. Spread the cooked meat evenly over the beans. Sprinkle the
chopped chiles over the meat.
3. Spread the cheese on top and sprinkle the chopped olives on top.
Drizzle the green and red sauce over the top of the cheese.
At this point you can cover and keep refrigerated for 24 hours until
ready to bake. Let it return to room temperature before baking.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and bake for 20-30 minutes, or until hot
and bubbly. Remove from oven and let stand 5 or so minutes before serving.
