  1. I'll be out there with y'all. Except at 55 I still walk comically fast & my wife has to always tell me to slow down because her surgically repaired toe (thanks to Texas Ex Kris Stockton) can't keep up. For 20+ years I've given away annual National Park passes to family and friends as gifts. Most recipients were truly thankful. Some took up the same tradition. Before my dad was eligible for the free senior pass I'd bought one for him and his bitch of a wife for 2 or 3 years straight. At one point he pulled me aside and said "you're kind of wasting your money by giving this to us. We're not hikers (he's got a bad knee; she's got MS). " I told him I didn't care if they used it or not, but I damn sure wanted to make sure my money was going to something worthwhile than just a gift certificate to Applebee's or Chili's or some shit chain restaurant they like to eat at.
  2. Y'see, I had him going for the easy bags of cash available by going on the fundagelical church speaking tour for the next 6-9 months. During that time, he'd have a ghostwriter pen "Wokeness Wounded Me, But Lord Trump Saved Me: One Man's Journey to Salvation through MAGA" which the GQP would buy 3 million copies of to hand out at their klan rallies. The book tour would merge nicely w/ non-stop guest appearances on Fox, OAN, Newsmax, etc., where he could publicly fellate dotard. This would last until about the end of the first year of Trump's term so he'd likely be up for a cabinet post by that time since dotard will have begun firing those unqualified losers he'd nominated 12 months ago who didn't have the courage to hold the Constitution to his boil covered butt while wiping his ass with it.
  3. We're gonna be planting some Arizona Cypress trees in our backyard in the next 10 days. That should guarantee at least one more brief cold snap.
  4. TCM is in the heart of their 31 days of Oscars right now. Yesterday was something to behold, and if I didn't have an early start this morning, I could have binged for 10 hours straight. But man, when you look at these winners, the turd in the punch bowl is obvious. 5PM Driving Miss Daisy 7PM All the President's Men 9PM China Syndrome 11PM Network
  5. There ya go, Mackenzie! Make sure your name doesn't fall off the radar too far. The 2026 elections are just around the corner!
  6. I'm expecting to see that on t-shirts in the wild by next Wednesday. Grift don't stop.
  7. Were you expecting foreplay? Your mom doesn't.
  8. The Trump as a lit match in front of a room full of pissed off bombs cartoon is Pulitzer worthy. It's only become more relevant. When it was published during his first term I shared it in a group chat. Got called out by one particularly odious harpy I never really could stand. Severed what limited "friendship" I had with her. Never regretted it. She was the first MAGAt I disassociated from, and it's only become easier.
  9. Didn't Pickryl show up with one busted shoulder then promptly destroyed the other? Don't know if he would have been much a force if he'd stayed healthy but would have been the token academic all-american each year.
  10. Netflix. Any one of the dozens of other streaming services would easily fill the void. Canceled mine almost 2 years ago & don't miss it.
  11. Not a spot of ice on 183S from CP to the Domain this morning. Chilly and windy, but not bad overall.
  12. Any of the 3 broadcast news channels could--no, SHOULD--be doing at least a weekly if not nightly fact check on these purported DOGE savings. Just hammer away at the lies constantly. Have 60 Minutes do an expose and reveal their ridiculous math where 2+2= a billion. Instead, Musk and Co will just keep throwing out fantastically fake numbers that will be repeated over & over. If we're lucky we might get a humorous bit from Jon Stewart or John Oliver.
  13. Buck who? I mean, I know our OL was mostly hammered dog shit for the better part of a decade, but what the hell was BB gonna do to improve the situation? And I wouldn't call him a flame out & don't mean to derail the intent of the thread, but fuck the off-season so I feel for guys like OJ McClintock. Classic "athlete" take that kept out growing his natural position but was never strong or capable enough to make a difference where he ended up.
  14. Yeah, he played like a total hack. Probably didn't even make the cut on his tour stops [emoji1787]
  15. Lightweight. Comfortable. Breathable. Water repellent. More comfortable & useful than denim. Pretty much a no-brainer when the weather turns cold or soft.
  16. If you're a Costco member, they have a knockoff brand (Weatherproof?) that's damn near identical (I have both the EB and Costco version) for about twenty bucks. Too good of a deal not to have a couple pairs stashed away for emergency use.
  17. Epic day. I'm pretty sure I was behind you at the pro shop for check in. I broke the ice by announcing loudly "looks like a bunch of assholes are gonna play today." My friend who didn't even have a shaggy account was my partner so I was having to explain inside jokes to him the entire time. For some reason I decided not to drink anything that round. I chose... poorly. We were paired up with Blacklab & some guy who I think was his personal swing coach/CrossFit guru. There was a lot of flexing & stretching going on. Few jokes. Enjoyed the Franklin's afterwards & jawing with Jive Turkey. He's much taller than you'd think in person.
  18. 1969. Firmly Gen X, you candy ass millennial.
  19. It's a classic western structure. Minus a horse.
  20. The Shootist? Best of the 70s? High Plains Drifter and The Outlaw Josey Wales, to name just the obvious, wipe their ass with Duke's toupee. What a steaming pile of shit. The American (Clooney, 2010) is so overlooked in the genre. Perfect pace, tone & color.
  21. Y'all pussies would have loved Minnesota in the '70s. Riding in the station wagon on vinyl seats that warmed up around June, inhaling the second-hand smoke from the folks' heaters, and the closest thing to tech clothing was corduroy pants & some itchy wool sweater Gramma knit for you for Christmas.
  22. My sister began working for the VA less than a year ago after 20+ years in the private sector as an imaging tech. She took a cut in pay to be part of the mission and to have the chance to work more directly with her patients and to get out of the "take a number" cycle she'd been in for decades. She loves her new position, but is now torn with anxiety knowing that she's still in her probationary period and her fate is in the hands of dotard and fucktard Musk. Welcome to 'Merica. Where you can make personal sacrifices to serve our country's veterans, but your services may be determined to be not needed by a draft dodging, felonious rapist and a neo-nazi supporting illegal immigrant.
  23. Mrs GOTJ was filling out the curbside order on the HEB app last night & noticed that they're now selling vibrators. Not sure if she added one to her cart or not.
  24. Fuck. They might luck into a competent RB coach now.
  25. Sounds like someone hasn't discovered the wonderful world of fleece lined technical pants.
