That's no lube by Spectrum. I was in a similar bundle until October.

If you don't want too much change you can contact Spectrum & tell them you want to switch to their streaming bundle. You'll save considerably & can probably even have them come hook up everything & take away your old DVRs (that will save you at least $40/mo there).

Those bastards will do everything they can to retain the more expensive cable customers, but he may get a discount that lasts for a couple months or so.

I was surprised at how easy my experience was in October. Like AB, I had a legacy bundled account (cable/gig internet/land line) for at least 15 years. WIth the Gold cable package plus HBO/SHO/Starz and 3 DVRs we were pushing $370/mo. Oh yeah, we also switched our cell phones to Spectrum about 3 years ago which was another $100/mo ($50/line).

Not only did they cut the cable w/o any fight and dropped our monthly bill (gig internet & land line because it's almost impossible to get rid of the fucking thing) to just over a hundred a month, he lowered our cell phone plan from the $50/line/month plan we were on to the new customer price of $35/line/month. I did a double take and asked if this was an introductory rate that would go up & he said no, they wanted valued customers to have the same experience as new customers. When I joked that I'd be stupid to say "no" to saving thirty bucks a month he replied that I'd be surprised at how many people turn down that savings out of principle.

Spectrum just might be getting the big picture finally & realizing what they're going to have to do to retain customers let alone get new ones in this market.

  2. One more bit of anecdotal support for YTTV: my wife has not complained once about the UI since we switched from Spectrum cable. She had at least a year's worth of Roku, Apple TV & Spectrum TV app experience so it wasn't cold turkey, but it's very easy to use. Plus being able to organize your lineup & skip all the shit you don't watch is huge. Best feature is definitely multiview for sports.

  3. If you get a antenna for the Austin area make sure you get one that is VHF and UHF. Fox broadcasts on VHF. the other stations are UHF.
Any antenna will pick up both formats, however to get the VHF signal 99% of the time you will need it to be attached to at least a window. UHF is more forgiving and you can usually put it anywhere inside your house & get a decent signal. Fox7 doesn't deal well with interior obstructions.
  4. Haven't tried it on a TV, just checked it out on a workstation at home this morning.  (Monitor is ~ 24".)
TVs are something like 72" and 48" LED and a 48" plasma, which actually has the best picture.  None are 4K.
That's your problem. Click on the gear in the lower right corner of the app to adjust the resolution. On a PC it will sometimes default to really low rez. You can adjust accordingly. You won't have to do this on your TVs as it will output to the highest quality available automatically.

  5. I’ve been paying $293/month for Spectrum since the Obama administration.
(3 DVR boxes, Internet, and landline telephone bundle)
    Is that a screw job?

  6. Just launched a free trial on YouTube TV -- live ABC (currently "Good Morning America") looks like ass.  Great.
It gets better. And I highly recommend ponying up the extra ten bucks a month for the 4K package (you'll get unlimited device connectivity as well).
  7. There's no justification for not having at least one TV in your domicile connected to an OTA antenna. Zero.

They're cheap, simple to install, and oh yeah, the best uncompressed image quality. If nothing else just have one in case of severe weather & unexpected cable/network outages.

  8. "Good" Fields was on full display that drive, slipping out of 3 sacks he had no business escaping. Vikes stiffen and force the FG try that was pushed wide right. Skol, Vikes!

  9. Before 5-7, aggy had been pushing the idea that a #1 recruiting class usually wins a championship.

THAT is why they’re desperate to keep that class together.
And when the players from that class start hitting the portal in the coming weeks they'll see it as proof they weren't "real Ags" and Elko knew this as soon as he laid eyes on them and sniffed their assholes just like Reveille so he showed them the door. No matter the situation, aggy has just the right lies to tell themselves so they'll sleep well at night.
