  1. Trump never admits he's wrong because doing so implies weakness. His acolytes follow suit.
  2. Jury duty in Santa Fe. Sign me up.
  3. Gundy getting his "dream job" at his alma matter so early has probably worked against him in the long run. OSU took a chance on him as a young--and cheap--up 'n comer. He punched above his weight class early on, then had sustained success at a mid-tier school & was annually mentioned on the "potential next HC" list. But ever since he played footsie w/ Tennessee (and that looks more & more likely as if he just wanted more assurances from the Pokes' AD) he's been a company man. Unfortunately he's obviously hit his limit. And the NIL era isn't going to be kind to him or schools like oSu. He probably would have been better suited to have jumped at a bigger school 10-15 years ago where he might have had a chance at greater success. Then he could have returned as the conquering hero to Stillwater if he wanted to finish his coaching days there.
  4. I'm holding out hope--perhaps foolishly--that this ongoing "will he/won't he" debate is just a necessary charade to allow the real heavy lifting to be done behind the scenes to make sure that the Kamala/ ? ticket is ready to take off as soon as Biden steps aside. The messaging, the infrastructure, the possible changes to cabinet positions...all of that shit needs to be wired up tight. I'd like to believe the current dog 'n pony we're getting is simply a means to the inevitable end.
  5. BIL may be close to finding his bottom. Today marks his 6th trip to ER/hospital this year after a mysterious "episode." This will be an overnighter as they try to get him hydrated & his blood chem balanced out. This episode involved an unwitnessed seizure. In fact, it appears that many of his medical issues have been brought on by a hellacious cycle of binge drinking followed by attempts to dramatically reduce--but not altogether quit--drinking almost cold turkey. The SIL admitted via text that she feels like god's punishing him in spite of how good he's been doing in reducing his drinking (or as a friend of mine whose wife has just finished her 2nd rehab stint told me, "he's doing a better job of hiding how much he's drinking"). For the first time the phrase "medically supervised detox" is being discussed. It remains to be seen if he'll accept that path or continue to try & convince his wife & family that he doesn't have a problem with alcohol & if the doctors just knew how to fix those other issues everything would be fine. My friend whose wife is battling the disease shared with me what he learned from an al-anon meeting: We didn't cause it. We can't control it. And we can't cure it. Thanks to those who continue to share openly their struggles & victories over this disease.
  6. Thousands of times driving drunk? Who does he think he is? Eddie Sutton?
  7. This is the thread for guys who think women's breasts feel like bags of sand.
  8. Russell retired!
  9. That is 100% woman right there.
  10. It's a pretty fascinating story about how that song came together & well worth digging into. Briefly, the execs at Paramount wanted to release a single to promote the film but didn't have any money. The director, Taylor Hackford, got involved, which led to him consulting a friend who used to work @ Warner Bros records & at the time had just begun managing Jennifer Warnes. Jennifer immediately said she wanted to perform a duet w/ Joe Cocker. They convinced Hackford & others that the contrast of their smooth/rough voices would parallel the characters Winger & Gere were portraying. The music was already there as part of the score that had been written. They spliced the song together from existing parts, added some lyrics & there it was. Cocker had to be coaxed to record the song in the studio w/ Warnes. He was terrified at first, but they nailed it in a couple takes. Hackford loved it & and knew it was the perfect song for the ending of his film. The studio execs thought it was garbage & tried to force Hackford to use 'On the Wings of Love' by Jeffrey Osborne. It was only because they were out of money & time that Hackford was allowed to get his way.
  11. Is he talking Finebaum or just some random, bald, pencil-necked dude?
  12. Stay off the Justin Blackmon Expressway, Gordon. Nothing good comes from that route.
  13. Is on TCM in 15 minutes. "I wouldn't have made this if it weren't for you. " "Get the hell out if here ." "Thank you, sergeant."
  14. That's the perfect scene stealing trio right there. 3 minutes per episode
  15. Yeah, in the replay it's clear Max stayed wide. Still seems like Norris was trying to overtake sooner than he needed to in a tough turn.
  16. Holy shit. Norris just fucked 'em both.
  17. Archie Bunker Hawkeye Pierce George Costanza
  18. My wife was in Spring last weekend visiting her twin sis (no pics). She told me how the aggy BIL made a total ass of himself after they won game 1 by drunkenly screaming, whooping & cursing at the moon from his backyard. He's friends with most of his neighbors & everyone's known him to be a drunken, loud buffoon over the years. I'm wondering what got destroyed by him throwing it in their pool last night after the loss?
  19. Losing keeps them hungry? They've gotta be some starving corpse sonsabitches after 85 years of not winning shit.

  21. Oilers tied it 1-1 on a beautiful breakaway.
  22. And this isn't the site motto because....?
  23. Binged all 3 + watched the Fincher version again this weekend. Although the Swedish version (mostly) followed the source material more closely, they also ignored some aspects completely (like the Blomkvist/Erika relationship & its impact on Lisbeth's actions). Overall, they were ok. I still preferred Fincher's interpretation.
  24. You clicked on a link from PRONG HORN. What on earth did you expect?
  25. That makes sense. Same thing happened w/ Master & Commander as I recall.
