  1. Again, the statue won't represent achievement as much as it will be a symbolic gesture & reminder of their halcyon days. A decade from now they'll use it as part of a fundraising drive. There will be plenty of former students from those days that will fondly remember winning seasons & bowl game upsets (beating Andrew Luck's Stanford team has to be a highlight) that the admin will be keen to get on board.
  2. He made them relevant for twenty years during a time when college football was experiencing unprecedented growth in popularity and constant change. Without Gundy--even with T. Boone's $--they likely would have been replacing HCs every 3-5 years and would have been less than an afterthought. He got them within a missed FG of possibly playing for a BCS championship. If anyone doesn't think that will be the highlight of their program's history a decade or two from now (and LOL at the 1945 or whatever championship they decided to claim & plaster all over their endzone 15 years ago) then they're crazy. They're not built to compete in this new era.
  3. Okie State better give Gundy his props when they erect his statue and make sure it has a full, flowing mullet.
  4. Bruce turned 76 today. My grampa would've been 118. Fun shared birthday. I'm gonna put the o/u on new Bruce albums--not including the Nebraska '82 release in a few weeks--before he turns 80 at five.
  5. https://gratefulthreadco.com/collections/outdoor-flags All kinds of subtle and not so subtle items. I also picked up the 'big fan of human rights' ball cap.
  6. Just ordered for the yard.
  7. Holy shit, kudos to ABC for showing the clip of dotard butchering saying "acetaminophen" on live TV. "Acid-oo...well, let's see how we say that."
  8. I've always thought 'Slipping Away' from Steel Wheels has been criminally overlooked. Keef brought that song to the recording sessions essentially finished (it might've been an outtake from Talk is Cheap) and Mick had 'Mixed Emotions' and a couple rockers in the bag. That's when they knew it was worth another go. Shit, I'd argue that 'Thru and Thru' off Voodoo Lounge is worth a regular rotation on anyone's playlist. When Charlie comes in half way through and Keith finds that deep, down below the earth riff...that's the good stuff.
  9. Dead Flowers, Girl with the Far Away Eyes, Waiting on a Friend... Can't keep track of the times I've heard and/or sang along to any of those songs (to name a few) and thought "fuck, this moment in time is perfect."
  10. Impossible task because it can change depending upon the time of day, mood, environment, etc. Moonlight Mile is one of the greatest final tracks on any album ever, and it might not make the top 5 tracks on Sticky Fingers.
  11. Tulsa is 3-3 on 4th down conversions. In the first half.
  12. Tulsa bullying the Pokes line.
  13. Gundy should open a Qwik Lube franchise at this point.
  14. All of our discussions w/ our financial advisor up until this year have been built upon us leaving Texas when we retire for one of 4 areas: the PNW, Santa Fe, Fort Collins, or Stillwater/eastern 'burbs of the Twin Cities. Going forward our focus will change to options outside of the US. We don't have kids and our family obligations are nothing that couldn't be met via technology or international flights. Unfortunately we're probably looking at 8 more years before we can retire & escape. The longer MAGA metastasizes, the less I like our odds.
  15. His roommate/romantic interest is apparently transition. Ergo, all transgenders are domestic terrorists. It all adds up in Trumplandia.
  16. Jesus, I said take the STICK, not the wheel! Brett James made a nice living off that song. Co-wrote a lot for some huge names.
  17. But she'd be forced to display the Ten Commandments in her (TX) classroom.
  18. In that video of the Bengals fans fighting you can almost hear the wheezing while they attempt to throw hands. I don't think a single person in the video weighed less than 250 lbs. Old fat slobs.
  19. Three Days of the Condor is another remote drop film for me, along with All the President's Men. RIP, Sundance.
  20. Enchubben sounds EXACTLY like my late FIL. UT grad '66. Enlisted in the Army immediately after graduation, did a tour in Korea as an ambulance driver at a MASH unit. Got out, married, started a family & went to work at his dad's successful RV business in SA. He fucked that up so badly he was passed over by his younger sister's husband to be the GM. So he quit the family business due to the insult & tried selling cars for Benson & McCombs. Couldn't hack that either. So his wife put on the pants & was the breadwinner for the next 25 years while he smoked, drank, & came up with lame ass ideas that never panned out. He had a special hatred for government employees. It severely damaged his relationship with his daughter who's been a gov't employee her entire career (but no the son who was active duty USAF for 25 years). Why did he hate gov't workers so much? It seems he applied for a civil service job in SA in the early 80s & didn't get it. So in his warped mind, the only way a white, male, veteran TexasEx wouldn't be hired is due to minority quotas. I mean, there's no way an alcoholic with no computer skills & a checkered employment history with major gaps wouldn't be a dream candidate for any hiring manager, right?
  21. I'm fully anticipating a Christian Ponder-esque career for McCarthy.
  22. Burrow is quickly heading down the "What Could Have Been" expressway.
  23. Chiefs 0-2. Emergency meeting scheduled for Monday morning in Goodell's office to ensure they aren't in danger of another loss before Thanksgiving.
