The analogy I'd use is someone 1,000 miles away shot at me, missed badly, and is still 1,000 miles away and wants to shoot at me again.  No, I wouldn't take them seriously.

This would be a good analogy if the insurrectionists were a thousand miles away from the officers they attacked and the Capitol they breached.

Messaging is what they dominate at doing.

It was facetious. There's virtually no way any Trump voter can claim they didn't vote for a candidate that campaigned on tariffs. It wasn't some hidden agenda. The point being there's an significant chunk of the voting public that will believe what they want to believe regardless of what a candidate says or how they say it.

I hate to say it but I treat this like I treat the war against Russia. I want as much pain as possible.

And that's the line that defines the two sides. One side hates the shit-sprayed reality it has no other option to oppose, one side has spent almost a decade broadcasting that it relishes it not as a means to an end, but as some moronic sewage-spackled end unto itself.

    You know. Patriots.

Sadly you are calling him a nazi/dumbfuck because he

...unbans Nazi accounts on Twitter while banning accounts critical of him- the free speech absolutist, pro-actively supports and joins a party that indistupibly tried to overturn a free and fair election, pro-actively supports a foreign far right party, feels immune broadcasting that he came and remained in this country illegally with no in-group fear of repercussions, and purposely and knowingly Nazi salutes on one of the most widely broadcast events knowing there's a mass of pretzel brains who will pretend they're as dumb as you're pretending to be.

What is your opinion on this action. Do you think it will benefit the country as a whole?

Seems like a simple yes or no question.

To the topic, 28 weeks is a pretty generous package, better than most in the private sector would get. It's not gonna make sense for a lot of people, but for the younger folks I know of a few personally that will be able to jump to the private sector with ease. They were already heading that direction based on the RTO order without the juice of a severance package. I think you will see a short term brain drain of the most capable talent, esp younger talent that isn't near retirement.
