  1. I have no problems finding green space within the loop, and most are biking distance. Others are no longer than a 10 minute drive. Are you going to go on a hike? No, other than some Memorial Park trails Nice lakes? No I don't mid Galveston at all. Was there a couple of weeks ago and the water was pretty clear that day. The Strand is nice.
  2. I guess I'm in the minority of one that still enjoys downtown. Plenty of good bars and the restaurant scene is improving. I'm downtown bar hopping about once a month, although Main St is getting too clubby for me.
  3. The downtown population is growing and there are upcoming developments. No, it's never going to be Austin, but it upcoming. Downtown Houston seems to go in phases every 10 years or so. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/article/downtown-houston-population-growth-20345899.php Houston also isn't just siting back and doing nothing about the homeless situation with an upcoming housing-first model. The mayor plans to become the first major U.S. city to end street homelessness by the end of 2026 (although I doubt that will happen). Most will just get moved from location to another. https://communityimpact.com/houston/bellaire-meyerland-west-university/government/2025/03/12/houstons-70m-plan-to-end-street-homelessness-by-2026/?utm_source=chatgpt.com Progress Made Homelessness has dropped sharply—roughly 60% since 2011. Model has housed thousands effectively. Current Gap As of mid‑2025: ~3,200 people still experience nightly homelessness; funding remains short; housing availability is tight. Ongoing Challenges Ensuring sustainable funding, expanding mental health services, avoiding criminalization, and expanding low-barrier options. Future Goal End street homelessness by end of 2026, provided the plan is fully funded and implemented effectively.

  6. They sold to a private equity in 2021
  7. Ghent is a pretty cool city
  8. They are increasing the fee to $800 this year. I agree the Chase lounges are trash these days, and a let of terminals don't have Chase lounges anymore. They don't even offer restaurant credit anymore. The Lyft perk is nice, however.
  9. I would probably get back $400 of the CSR $800 credit. I won't renew precheck for another 4 years.
  10. I actually did some analysis using ChatGPT and the Chase Sapphire Preferred was suggested, but it was just a small sample of spending patterns. I need to find an easy way to get my purchases from the last 2 years analyzed without putting any personal information out there.
  11. I think I'm going to downgrade to preferred as well. Waiting until October.
  12. I read his book OUTLIVE. It's a good read, but your average person doesn't need to be in the top 70% of any of his training. Just follow his guidelines and exercise.
  13. I don't think you can get away with a Slow Donnie character these days on network TV
  14. Chase Saphire Reserve fee is going up to $795 annually in October. They offer more benefits, but I don't think I'll take advantage of them. Time for me to find a new card.

    Allegiant Air

I flew the from Houston to Ashville a year ago with no issues. It's so easy out of Hobby. Not bad if you have just a 2 hour flight.
  16. https://austin.eater.com/2024/11/6/24191913/west-coast-oysters-texas-illegal-banned-why-pacific-coast-oysters-gulf-coast-oysters#:~:text=The short answer is that,Shellfish Institute in Olympia%2C Washington. They are hard to find in Houston
  17. It's unfortunate you can't get west coast oysters in Texas. Invasive species and whatnot. I've only found them in a couple restaurants. I think Clark's in Houston was one of them.
  18. raw oysters - east coast all day chargrilled oysters - gulf
  19. No issues at all with the Google Chromecast
  20. I'll drink Pacifico all day. I'll also take the Saint Arnold Summer Pilz if that's their seasonal
  21. In a good way. Along with the patio not all rotted out, and it doesn't smell like sewage anymore. However they do have loud DJs at times which is not for me these days.
  22. I'm glad Bobby Heugal and his partner Peter kept it the same after they acquired it. Same as they did with Catbirds.
  23. The Children's Museum Houston is pretty bad ass
