  1. Maybe I’m getting old, but I find myself drinking less before/during big games like this. I kinda want to know what’s going on and have a somewhat cogent take on the nuances of the game beyond good play YAYYY bad play BOOO

This is why I like watching it at home compared to at a restaurant with inability to discern the audio well and usually with friends who may not care about the game as much as you so they distract you.

  2. Bryan Carrington is worth every penny that the university is paying him. He was immensely popular with recruits at Houston and the recruits are connecting with him extremely well at Texas as well. He may not be an x's and o's guy, but he brings another element that some of the position coaches lack and Herman is confident in his ability and sends him out on the road.

Even if it was a pain, that was a very nice job you did, and it looks beautiful. I have a soft spot for those Lane chests: when I was a young girl, my grandmother and my mother each had the little sample ones that they give graduating seniors (in the hopes they will buy the real deal). They were much much too poor to afford the large ones, but they had kept their small ones and my grandmother kept spare handkerchiefs and little odds and ends in hers while my mom kept mementos in her own. When I received mine, I used it for a jewelry box since I don't wear much jewelry on a regular basis besides my wedding ring, a watch and if we are going out someplace nice, a necklace and earrings. When my mother passed away, I had to decide whether to keep the Lane chests or leave them behind and it was one of the hardest things I've ever done to let them go as they held so many memories of sitting with my grandmother or mom rummaging through the little Lane chests while I listened to stories.

Thank you! I can imagine it was hard to make that decision but nice that you can still hold on to them with just the thought of seeing one bringing those memories back. I had re-finished another chest previously to this and sold it. Afterwards she mentioned that she was sorry I sold it that she would have bought it off of me. I didn't know she was interested otherwise I would have just given it to her. Her her husband and she have helped my wife and I so much over the years that I had to go find another one to restore for her. I hope it brings back memories for her like it did for you :)

  4. I wasn’t complaining, looks interesting.  Definitely healthier than a loaded potato.

I’m in the final week of a weight loss challenge. Believe me the loaded potato is THE way to go. This side was just ok but wasn’t fond of the grainy texture didn’t complement the steak. Need that mash to soak up that steak juice just right.
  5. What's the point? All it does it grill, right? So it's basically a $175 Weber Smokey Joe that retails for $500+ and is too heavy to actually be portable and would crack and be ruined if you accidentally dropped it. Am I missing some sort of functional benefit to this other than someone wanting their friends to know they bought an overpriced mini grill?

I think the point is that you can get max temps at much higher points therefore able to get better chars on steaks. Especially if paired with a cast iron grate. Of course I can also get high temps grilling directly over my charcoal chimney but that’s just one steak at a time. Point is mute for this little guy. It was sold instantly.

  7. Must get or na?

“Green Egg Mini Maxx. 18" grilling surface, less than 3 years old, price includes a cast iron grate. Perfect for grilling 2 steaks, or 4 hamburgers. Cash only, no trades will be considered. “

  8. So I just noticed someone selling a medium BGE for $375... should I taking vacation and driving down to buy this immediately? They said they've only used it a few times but don't have time to grill. I already have a 22" WSM and a charcoal grill but I have nothing like this that gets those badass high temps for searing some mean steaks.
