  1. You hear of insurance companies going insolvent but not much about reinsurance companies going the same way. Seems like you should hear more about reinsurance going bankrupt if the system was working like it's supposed to. So are reinsurers refusing to write for certain parts of portfolios or are the insurance companies just not buying enough reinsurance to cover all their assets?
  2. Come on now, no need to be hyperbolic. NYC transit's main achievement is how many people it moves every day. Its coverage area is huge and does a great job with access points. Lines do go out of service but no more so than in London or Paris*. I've never been to Athens so I can't speak to their system but I suspect in terms of pop size and area NYC and Athens are going to make poor comparison partners. *Of those 3 I've spent the least amount of time in NY so maybe Ive managed to go at favorable times.
  3. I see. Pleasantness and vibe are going to depend on the local population. Culturally speaking NYC has one of the worst reputations for that. Comparing it to Tokyo, HK, London, or even Paris is going to make it look even worse. In terms of getting you where you're needing to go I've found the NY metro transit system is just as efficient as any other I've been on.
  4. I have. Many times. I've never felt NYC's public transportation was lacking compared to any of those cities which is why I asked. Does the NYC Metro have a high crime rate? I've never felt unsafe on there and I've ridden on that thing at all times of day in every neighborhood. Even on their buses I've never really felt in danger.
  5. How are you defining that where NYC doesn't qualify?
  6. Why are they expanding the mandatory evacuation, are they expecting the Eaton fire to move west? They've had it contained decently well for the past few hours.
  7. hah that's right.
  8. Oral. Roberts.
  9. I'm fixing to do that tmw night. Except with tator tots.
  10. $5.5 for Chris Martin. Well done.
  11. Please let this be Jerry being petty and not he's going to hire him back.
  12. A bulging disc is going to be more than two weeks. He might try to play after two weeks but he's not going to be anywhere near 100%. I'd be very surprised if he even tries to play after two weeks.
  13. Where do I get one of those policies?
  14. He wasn't a couple drives away, he was something like 65 offensive snaps away
  15. I use the app on my pixel 8 but it crashes often when I open a page with embedded tweets or videos. Sometimes causes the entire phone to become unresponsive for a minute before restarting itself. The error messages I get range from chrome has crashed, to the Google app store has crashed, to the system UI has crashed. So I have to use tapa sometimes for certain threads that have embeds.
  16. When we first moved to the States we lived in Ohio for 4 years and that's when I was fed white chili. Even at that young age I knew it was disgusting. If they call that good food I'm not worried about what they call good football.
  17. Thanks. I must be seeing a different one.
  18. $40? I've seen the same listing multiple times the past month on FB marketplace me. Interestingly enough the arch Manning aggy ornament I ordered came from an address in Dallas also.
  19. Lol I forgot about this. It came in while we were out of town. It's a photo between two sheets of acrylic. I love it.
  20. Ours came in while we were gone over the break. Great quality. Thanks for posting that.

  22. Your itinerary is trash mainly because you're going to see City. jk. I'm assuming you don't have kids. How old are you? I've done similar itineraries through those exact cities (minus Zurich) several times but only out of necessity (we have family in each of those places). It's hard man. If you're < 35 years old it's doable but honestly you won't get as much enjoyment out of it as if you'd take your time. I would suggest 14-16 in Manchester, take the train down to London on the afternoon of the 16th and then take the train to Paris on the 20th. Forget Zurich. There's not that much to do in Manchester. A day trip from London to Oxford isn't crazy, I've done it several times. Takes a couple hours by car or train- if you leave in the morning you can get back at night for a late dinner after a full day in Oxford. But even if you don't leave London there is so much to do in London. Catch a show. Go to a museum. Go to a concert at St Martin in the Fields. Go see a historical site. Go shopping. Go to Brick Lane, or Chinatown, or even go gambling if you want. See the sites in Paris (will you go back soon? If not spend a day at Versailles) but also don't do too much in one day. One or two sites each day and leave time to just stroll and sit down at a cafe to peoplewatch or get lost in a neighborhood or walk a park. There's a crispness in March in Paris where you can just sense the city start coming back to life from winter. I can't explain it but you can sense the energy.
  23. I've always wondered if a ball bouncing thru the uprights would count. Now I know.
