  1. if we're up big tonight and about to wrap it up towards the end of the game smoltz is going to memorialize the teams we played this playoffs and discredit us by saying how great those other teams were and that we managed to catch them at the right time.
  2. it's unfortunate in its baggage but i was always a fan of south garland's rendition of dixie with its heavy and driving percussion.
  3. Very happy to be up 3-1. One more and we're world champs!! Using Jose tonight bothers me. I get not wanting to take any chances but we couldn't find someone else to get us one out? Jose is not great on back to backs. He's done it three times this post-season. 10/4 1 inning, 2 hits 10/8 .2 innings, 1 hit 1 run 10/16 1.1 innings, 2 walks Here are his career numbers for pitching on one day vs zero day rest. 1 day : 4.12 ERA, 1.373 WHIP 0 days: 8.31 ERA, 2.077 WHIP It would've been ideal to give him tonight off. Back to back nights are hard for him. B2b2b would be even worse. I don't have data for this but from my pitching days and from the feedback I've gotten from the HS boys I've coached over the past decade your arm just feels dead, even on the fastball. Jose's big out pitch, his slider, doesn't break as cleanly. Your mechanics falter and you lose control. It's a struggle. Lots of us have sons who've pitched several times in a weekend at tournaments, I'm sure you've seen the same thing. It'd be awesome to see him close out the championship for us. I really hope he gets that chance but I hope it's not a save situation.
  4. randy galloway is still alive? what does he do now?
  5. if that gets jonah going that would be GREAT.
  6. evan's on base streak is going to end tonight.
  7. no reason to completely burn out andrew. now we have him in the back pocket for a game 7.
  8. nonsense. where'd you get that hot take? i know it wasn't from actually watching. during that august and september stretch scherzer was the ONLY pitcher we had we could count on to consistently pitch well late into games. our offense had died. our bullpen was a dumpster fire. this was the ashamedly the time i wished for jose leclerc to be shot into the sun. every fifth day we breathed a sigh of relief knowing we had a real ace who could staunch the bleeding. here are his innings and runs allowed for every start he made with us. 6/3, 7/1, 7/0, 3.2/3, 7/2, 6/0, 3/7, 5.1/0. Citing my work
  9. I get that Marcus is in a slump at a bad time but you gotta remember this happens in baseball to everyone. He'll snap out of it, hopefully in time to contribute to a ring. You want some hope? Just look at his career numbers. He is an amazing player on defense and offense. When he gets hot at the plate he's hotter than early 2000s johnny Damon. Pray that happens soon.
  10. No. Your best hitter bats second. Period. Your #1 and #2 hitters will come up to bat many more times than your #s 3 thru 5. And you want him up there with less than 2 outs because it gives the guys after him a chance to move him. You need a good hitter #3 to protect #2. Carter's not going to leadoff to let Mitch bat after Corey. Also your #9 guy can't be slow.
  11. if adolis really has a strain it's probably season over for him. the overwhelming majority of back strains take longer to heal than we have games left in this series.
  12. he wasn't ranked near the top. he was literally the best ever since they've started keeping these statistics.
  13. don't pitch around him are you serious?
  14. lol walker had no clue about that slider.
  15. oh my goodness if that's not a strike we're in trouble.
  16. 3 for 38. that's what #s 5 - 9 have done the past two games. gotta find it quickly guys.
  17. how do they have another challenge? they challenged the play at first and second last inning. that doesn't count as two challenges?
  18. good let's pressure THEM on the bases now rook
