  1. I hate to hear this. My 6th grade teacher was a pilot for one of the blimps in WWII. Always interesting to me.
  2. I've been relistening to a lot of Elton John stuff after reading Bernie Taupin's autobiography. I've really gotten back in to "Tumbleweed Connection", especially the CD version which includes a different version of "Madman Across The Water" with Mick Ronson on guitar instead of the version on the "Madman" album that was released the following year, with Davey Johnstone on guitar. Mick adds so much more urgency and tension to the song. Plus, I LOVE "My Father's Gun".
  3. Never listened to Duran Duran outside of what was on the radio/MTV, but that song sounds a little like XTC.
  4. I still think it is bizarre that he hyphenates his name Bankman-Fried (father/mother) rather than the normal way you see hyphenated names. They do look alike though.
  5. It is around 9:35 in the second clip above.
  6. Rock Show (dammit...gotta click) https://www.instagram.com/reel/CzJ0ezTOzLi/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  7. Nope. Had enough players. This coach and his DC came in my jr year and brought the signs with him after being out of coaching for a couple ofyears. They were really simple. Formation, main play, and sometimes backup play. I don't know if anyone we played signaled plays in. I was too busy looking at Teresa Gilbert and Tammy Swaim, especially when they wore the white cheerleading outfits.
  8. Damn. I had not heard that story. https://247sports.com/Article/Florida-Gators-football-Dan-Mullen-Kyle-Trask-timeouts-Georgia-Bulldogs-138116950/
  9. I listened to him narrate his audio book. He didn't "sound" sober then. He had excuses for that when people mentioned it (I read it in one sitting). On the "Friends" episode when everyone was worried about him, he had excuses for that (dental surgery). The book was also as much about who he fucked, who he wanted to fuck, who fucked him over, etc. I may have mentioned it early in this thread but I wouldn't recommend that book to anyone to read. I felt worse after reading it. Just gave me a dirty feeling. All in all, a really sad story.
  10. In 1978, our small 2A school signaled in off/def plays from the sidelines.
  11. Not sure what you mean by this but high schools have used offensive and defensive sideline signals since the 70s. We had two coaches sending the play in with signals. One was live, the other was a dummy.
  12. I have a weekly Zoom meeting with a group of about 15. One dude has had a chirping smoke detector for over a fucking year. Easy to tell who is it.....so we all sent him a 9v battery about 3 months ago. I guess that is the hill he is going to die on because he STILL hasn't changed it.
  13. I liked Bruce's comment about the hard shift to the right after Natalie Maines did what she did. Never knew their was a movie about to be made for Travelin' Soldier.
  14. From a while back, but interesting interview between Bruce Robison and Jack Ingram.
  15. I wish I had the patience to learn stuff like this. I've had that on a Sweetwater wishlist forever and always chicken out.
  16. Thanks @Chad Fuck Never considered that one. I LOVE what I hear on the demos. Exactly what I'm looking for, other than being close to $300 but my wife just bought a really expensive necklace in Israel....so I deserve this.
  17. I have the Keeley Compressor in the Sweetwater clip above. I find I need one setting for single coils and a completely different one for humbuckers. At least for me and my simple brain, they need to do two different things depending on the pickups. For the single coils, I like the quack it gives me, but with the humbuckers, I seem to like it for for the sustain. Anyone have a pedal they like for a rotary speaker effect? TC's Vibraclone seems to be the closest to what I want but it really seems to muddy up the tone. Maybe that is just part of it, but I've never really tried a rotary pedal that does what I want.
  18. My neighbor used to tell his kids they were going to the Atlanta Aquarium. I found out later, he was taking them to Bass Pro Shop.
  19. I just read an article about Dave Alvin and him coming back from cancer. This is the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread.
  20. Nothing against Charlie at all and if it came off as harsh, it wasn't meant that way. He was a really funny guy. He just lived life and attacked his career differently than his brother. And to think of that many great songs in one family, even including Robyn, is beyond amazing to me.
  21. Gotta look at it like it is a job. To be....that is the difference between Bruce and Charlie Robison. Bruce attacks it like a job. Charlie was a good time dude, just getting by. Nothing against Charlie at all. But Bruce looks at it like a job. And the quality shows.
