You got a picture, didn’t you? Didn’t you?
Could you ask her where in Target she left it?

Also, Evan just doesn't have the 'front man' presence like Isbell or Rhett Miller. Just not in him.....but to see him on stage with Isbell, doing that song. Plus, those verses probably just aren't in his range. I loved it, especially watching Isbell and Sadler just be rock guitarists for a bit.

Found it. Been hearing this song on The Range out of Ft. Worth/Jacksboro....wherever it is based.

I’ve already cut the space out.
Wife starts with I don’t think the opening should be higher
To which I said: it’s as high as it can go.
Fifteen minutes later…
Her: I’m trying to visualize this. I really think you shouldn’t go higher
Me: yep. It can’t go higher anyway so we’re good. The stairs start at that point so it’s what it is
Fifteen minutes later
Her: do you think we should make it a bit taller
Me: do you hate me???? I’ve already told you twice that’s the opening and, not only is it not changing, it can’t change.
Her: why?
Me: for the same reason I told you earlier
She then proceeds to climb in so she can verify that her husband, who she knows is very capable knows what he’s talking about…
God I love that woman or I’d have to run awayTell her she needs to see if the door is strong enough to keep the dogs from accidentally getting out. Lock her in. Go have a beer or three. Come back later and ask if it held.
Then test it with the dog and see who is happiest to see you when you let them out. Keep the happy one, ditch the other one.

Sweetwater is sending me at least two packages of candy. I also had them throw in a Katana 50 watt demo model. And what good is an amp without a guitar. If I'm going to be stuck in Young Co. Texas for an unknown period of time, might as well have a new toy to spend some time with. The new Katana has a foot switch to switch between the channels so that should be fun. I actually just bought it to use as a practice amp for my pedal steel when I get home, but then I pondered the idea of having an amp with no guitar out here. That was just silly.

Her: What kind of fern is this?
Me: (?!?!?) Um, that's called a western cycadatious fern. Don't touch it; it's kind of toxic. The Navajos smoked it to get high.
At least once a week:
Her: Guess who I saw at the store?
Me: Wayne Cranford
Her: You always say that.
Me: That's my guess.- 4

The only reason this isn't 1 is because my wife asks me these every day, multiple times a day. She comes to me because I know things, or know how to find them and she doesn't. However, if I just give a random piece of info that I happen to know, I'm being a know it all. So which is it, do you think I know enough to have answers to your questions only, but not to stuff I actually do know?? The amount of times she asks me for something and I give her the answer, that she then asks me "how can you possibly know that" is incredible.
Exactly. I get this all the time.
Her: Computer is slow
Me: Close about 84 of those open browser tabs. Also, about 28 of those open Outlook tabs.
Her: That doesn't matter
Me: Actually it does.
Her: You don't know that.
Me: Actually I do.- 3

A buddy of mine has a young teenage son who is starting to 'revolt'. He stormed in the other day and declared, "I'm getting my ear pierced!" By buddy told him, "Ear piercing? Really? If you want to shock me, you are going to have to come back home looking like Post Malone, or a SoundCloud rapper."

I generally don't like "guitar dudes". Like, I've never been to a G3 show and have no interest in going to one, I appreciate strong instrumentalists but I don't appreciate instrumental acrobats, or at least I don't appreciate viewing feats of instrumental acrobatics outside of the context of songs where it adds to it. Something like Eruption gets a pass because fucking Van Halen rocks outside of just shredding and even then I'm not going to play it all the time.
For a long time I have perceived Billy Strings as a "guitar dude" of that type. But, I think I'm at least partially wrong and have started to nibble at his music. His name is part of what gave me that perception.
Just watched his Rig Rundown. He has an old 1945 Martin that belonged to Jody Payne. He showed it to Mickey at Willie's 90th and Mickey pulled out a container from his harmonica case and sprinkled some of Jody's ashes in the guitar.

My bride bought me a Martin and a Strat in the late 80's for Anniversary presents from McCarty's on Kemp St. Family managed IIRC, nice people... spent a good bit of time there drooling.
Do you mean Sam Gibbs?
Hayley's Music on North Kemp has a pretty good inventory & the manager is savvy...good luthier also. His personal guitar and amp collection is damned impressive.
Yep. Sam Gibbs. I bought my first 'real' guitar and a Super Reverb there in 1978.
I'll have to go check out Hayley's. I just saw that on the www but the pictures were old. Thanks for the input. At least P2 is still open.

I grew near Wichita Falls and am back in the area dealing with elderly parents so I went to the only guitar shop still open in WF. They used to carry a lot of great guitars. Now, all bottom of the line PRS and Squires for electrics and Seagulls and lower Taylors. They had one Princeton Tone Master for $1,100. It appears they mostly cater to high school orchestras and bands.
In the late 70/early 80s, there was another shop called McCarty's. It was fantastic. In fact, Bill Welker who owns South Austin Music used to work there before he moved to Austin and bought that shop. It closed a long time ago.
I drove to Ft. Worth, looking to play a J45 and some various electrics. I refuse to step foot into a GC, so the best store I found was a Music Go Round. I went to Zoo Music...holy fuck...what a warehouse of shit. Not a price on anything. No amps were plugged in. NOTHING has a price on it. You had to go talk to the surly fucker to drag any information out of him. I know these places have taken a beating from the on-line stuff and GC. Makes me sad that the small shops don't exist any longer.

She : Why it the thermostat set at 78?
Me: It’s set at 73. You're looking at the temp. It 78 because of the oven and the outside temp.
She: I’ll turn down the thermostat
Has she put the fan on HIGH as well?

I played a Squire P90 today and it was horrible. Played a Gretsch with P90 in neck and humbucker in bridge that was a LOT more fun and 5 times better quality for the same price. Staying away from my previous thought.I had a Japanese 72 Tele Thinline reissue in the mid 90s. It was okay, but it didn't feel like it did the tele or the 335 thing all that well.- 1

That guitar.... I want to say is a 2000, which would be about right because I played it at my very first non talent show gig which was when I was 15. And I think 2000 was the first year they reissued the 72 thinlines, or at least the first year of that version (Made in Mexico Fender). Now I'm curious and maybe will look it up.
I always liked that guitar, it has been half out of commission for a while and honestly I couldn't give you a good description of the tone. It was kinda rusty for a while and I cleaned it up, but it got dropped at some point while serving as a backup guitar and the jack has needed to be repaired for several years.
So, obviously not one of the guitars I go to all the time, but I think it's maybe bright in comparison to a Les Paul, and aggressive sounding in comparison to a more traditional Fender. These are "wide range humbuckers", which are a different design than PAFs. I recall enjoying how easy it was to get great musical feedback on a loud stage with this guitar. I know... Franz Ferdinand used either one of these or maybe the 72 special (strat headstock, solid body, belly cut, LP style control layout). My old band did a demo in 2005ish that was one of our more garage rock-ish sounding songs and we used that guitar and a 72 special that was at the studio we used because it fit that kind of sound well.
I have that guitar out because I've been meaning to take actual steps to bring it back to life. It is a cool guitar. Neck is thick af.
Thanks @Celery Man . I thought you had one. The one I posted is a Squire but that gives me an idea. I'm out in Texas again for an unknown stretch and only brought an acoustic. I'm thinking about buying this to keep me company. $500 is a small price for what seems like a decent guitar, and something different once I get back home. Always loved the look, but outside of Rhett Miller's Deluxe, I've never really paid attention to the humbucker teles.

Anyone every played a thinline with humbuckers?
