  1. Now I know why people list the measurement and weight of a new born. So Exciting! Congrats on this beauty.
  2. Hell Yes! We are getting a new guitar today!
  3. As many know, my wife was born deaf. 85% hearing loss so without hearing aids or her cochlear implants, she MIGHT hear a plane landing in the upstairs hallway. With the implants, she is hearing more and more, although she will never be able to actually use the phone, without the captioning. Yesterday, I'm doing some shit upstairs while she is in the bonus room where her sewing machines are. Apparently working on turning some painters tarps into curtains for the porch. I stay out of that shit. I hear this racket coming from down the hall. Just a loud hissing and buzzing, like a radio is turned up really loud, between stations, during a thunderstorm. I look down the hall and see an old school boom box in the hallway. I go to inspect and find a CD jewel box for yoga on the floor. CD is in the player, but it isn't turning. The screen shows FM. She is sitting at a sewing machine with her back turned to me, enjoying her yoga music. I almost felt bad about laughing at this situation, then I read @956 Worldwide post and think of how many FUCKING TIMES this happens to me.....

    Songbirds

Lisa Bastoni just released a 7 song EP. This is the only song on youtube from that new one.
  5. 86 was great year for debut records. Just went through my records. Peter Case, Jayhawks, David & David, Crowded House, Rainmakers, Concrete Blonde, Lyle Lovett, Housemartins, Dwight Yoakum, Georgia Satellites, Steve Earle, Timbuk 3, Stan Ridgeway, Brian Setzer,
  6. Saw them do this live. Stunning. The show was announced as Gillian, David and three to be named later. They didn't introduce the band at first, but the buzz started going around when people realized it was John Paul Jones on mandolin. They took an intermissions break about 45 in. When they came back out, and the applause died down, it was deathly quiet. One dude says, in a very stoner voice, "That's John Paul fuckin' Jones, man."
  7. This is some GREAT advice. You can screw up with your left hand or just deaden the strings but if you are on time with the strumming, you can cover a MULTITUDE of sins. I still practice with a metronome because I have a tendency to rush when I'm playing solos.
  8. I wish I had saved that picture of her putting those bunk beds together in that shit-hole Air BnB apartment. Using a batter powered drill, with NO FUCKING BATTERY in it. That and the x-ray of her 'broken' arm. What a fucking whore.
  9. She originally went by FitLove....her horn started growing....hence FitLump.
  10. Agree with Yamaha and Seagull recs. Also, you can get a Taylor Academy 10 for a little over $500. As mentioned, go test drive some to see what feels comfortable to you. I wouldn't go by that list. That Epiphone 200 would be a beast for a beginner to learn on. Also, the quality of those varies WILDLY from my experience. You could end up with a great guitar or one that thinks it's still a tree. The Yamaha in that list would probably be a good bet. The Taylor is smaller (about 3/4 size) guitar. I think the Seagull is a LOT better guitar than that mini Taylor. I LOVE all of my Fender electrics but I've never really liked Fender acoustics.
  11. My Epiphone hollow body has a single p90 but it is more in the neck position. I LOVE that thing. Playing it through a VOX amp gives it this really nasty growl. I would love to test drive one of those things.
  12. The biggest radio station in Atlanta got into something similar. For years, they have sold time on Sundays to 'financial advisors'. They always say they are paid spots and the people aren't employees, but the shows sound like any other talk show..with people calling in and asking questions. This dude did it for a couple of years running a peer-to-peer lending program....then hauled ass. https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/turn-yourself-its-beyond-time-wife-missing-financial-adviser-wanted-by-fbi-speaks-out/U65WAOILIFDYVNXZ7CNC47BVUQ/
  13. Fuck it. Let's just do this.... https://library.austintexas.gov/ahc/treat-me-saturday-night-619755
  14. Cindy Light has a TON of great Joe Ely pictures.....I'm digging thru them down.....but I love this one of Joe and Jeff Plankenhorn.
  15. I was sitting in an airport bar next to this dude who was looking over pages of tabs. We started talking and he said, "do you know what these are?" Yep. He then flips to another page and starts 'singing' the tab, just by looking at it, pointing his finger like a first grader learning to read, but he had the timing down perfect and was singing the bends and slides. I had a magazine with me that had some tabs listed. I found one that was just an exercise and asked if he could sing that. Motherfucker did it. I wish I had that skill.
  16. Gary Clark, Jr. Audible has an INCREDIBLE audio book, read by Gary, telling his story. It is fucking INCREDIBLE. If someone can listen to that and not come out a HUGE fan of his, we can't be friends. It is called Deep Lowdown Soul. It is an Audible Original and is included as a part of Audible membership. I'm on my second listen. It is just him talking.....no interview questions.....it is like he is just answering questions. He isn't reading it...just him talking...with music scattered through. Wow.
  17. Hope your wife doesn't find out.
  18. Beck holding a tele doesn't hold a candle to SRV holding a Rick.
  19. If she would just go along with my plan to take her kayaking on an 'unsafe water day', this would handle itself. Never mind. Forget I said that....who hijacked my account? What?

    butt

    Imma fix this.
  21. Been working with a guy who was just released from our common treatment center. He has some fairly significant legal shit hanging over his head. Has to report to the VA sponsored IOP where they drug test him...and also his PO. We do this zoom thing on Friday nights for current patients and he contacted me after one of those. He was attending those and his IOP and PO said that if I would verify he was attending, he could do that instead of the IOP on Friday nights. He was just watching a video and discussing it where in our meeting, we talk about real life shit.....as current and former patients. Talked to him Friday night. He called me after I missed the meeting. Radio silence since. PO has been calling me. He missed an IOP/drug test then skipped his PO appt on Monday. He has been in numerous treatment centers. Young dude.....mid 30s. I'm really bummed about it. I know it's not on me but I'm not sure I would feel worse if it was me who relapsed and flaked out on the PO appointment.
  22. Or earn my Red Wings badge.
  23. Man...I LOVE Gravity's Gone. What a great song. Plus, this line makes me giggle. "She woke up sunny side down and I was still thinking I was too proud to flip her over"
