  1. She is deaf but a lip reading motherfucker. It's been a long running topic of fun and frivolity on this and the two previous boards. She doesn't use ASL.

    Cut short

    Cut short

For me, it begins and ends with Buddy Holly. All of those great songs written and recorded in under 2 years. He was 22 when he died. Lowell George (24) and Gram Parsons (26) were the other two I was thinking of.
  4. This is a live recording. I just LOVE the drums on this Marshall Crenshaw song.
  5. I'm so much happier when I did the same with my Les Paul. I just never connected with it. I LOVED looking at it...just not playing it. It KILLED me to get rid of it, but I ended up with that 62 Epi Century. In the 8 months I've had it, I've already played it more than I did that LP in 5 years. I took it to band practice for the first time on Sunday and the drummer couldn't quit gushing over the sound of that single P90.
  6. We recently replaced all of the cable boxes in our house and they have a voice control. For about 2 weeks she has watched me say, into the remote, "Outlander ** on Netflix". Bless her heart...last night, she gave it a try. "Outlanders on NextFlick".....3 times....then she just chunked the remote at me. I felt sorry for her. There are several words she pronounces differently. I rarely correct her unless it is a word that might be embarrassing to say in front of strangers. Most of them are due to spelling but some I can't figure out why she pronounces them a certain way. And to her credit, she apparently, FINALLY looked at the logo on the screen and said, "Oh....NET Flix". Fascinating = FASC-i-nating (this is a spelling issue) Waxed = Wax-ed (no idea) Farted = Fart-ed-ed (no idea) But words like Worked, she says correctly. But Fart-ed-ed cracks me up every time. OH....also, we dog sit Baboso's dog from time to time. To get her to go outside, the dog knows "Go be quick". But my wife miss-heard it, so she says, "Go get a quickie". Every fucking time...I giggle. ** If you haven't watched this titty-fest, so yourself a favor and invest some time.
  7. All you motherfuckers are amateurs.
  8. Those Loog guitars look like a great option. My 6 yr old granddaughter loves my guitars so I gave her an old mandolin I had But her fingers aren't strong enough to fret even one note. That Loog looks like it would be perfect for a 5 yr old.
  9. Fantastic @tbone_ What is your PA setup? Sounds fantastic for something outdoors. Also, the iPad stand. Are you using that for lyrics? Our singer is incredible, but lazy as fuck about remembering lyrics. We haven't spent any time trying to get him set up with some kind of scrolling setup....looking for options.

    Kayaking

Well,@baboso and I took our bitches out on the Etowah River in North Georgia. Things got a little western in the first 200 yards. The shoe fell apart during my wreck. Tried to get cute and was lazy. I lost. My wife wasn't paying attention and got out into the current while we were getting my boat out from under the log and she took a trip under it, upside down. I ended up walking my boat upstream and 200 yards. Paddle and console going downstream. I had put a 15 foot rope on the front of all of my kayaks a few years ago. I generally use them to pull my wife off of rocks and logs when she gets stuck, but it makes dragging a boat upstream a HELL of a lot easier. If you don't have one, do it tomorrow. Also used it to drag our other two boats around the tree. Knees and shins got cut to shit in the wreck and legs, arms and hands cut to shit by thorny vines, walking back up the river. Oh....poison ivy aplenty. About $50 damages to two of my boats and lost my new prescription sunglasses, gaiter and boonie hat. I had a bit of a battle getting out from under the kayak, under water facing the current and wedged under the log. Lots of exercise on Saturday.
  11. Serial killer Faryion Wardrip killed 2 friends of mine in Wichita Falls. As far as I know, the two girls didn't know each other. I know two other guys who murdered someone. One was fucked up on drugs and stabbed his wife. Told police his TV dinner was cold. He was about the nicest, calmest dude I knew. Just fucked up and lost it. Other dude was convicted of killer a cop in Tarrant Co. I left his house about an hour before the cops/sheriff/Texas Rangers/Hwy Patrol and FBI raided his house. Also grew up with a guy who was murdered. Drugs fucked him up. In jail and got released as an informant. Dead two days later. Shotgun blast in a Ft. Worth hotel. Another good friend of mine killed his dad. Was never arrested or prosecuted. Old man came home drunk. Shot the dog, pointed the gun at his wife and said, "You're next". My buddy shot him on the spot.
  12. @Buzzrock When do our Tele's get here today?
  13. Why do I click on those fucking lists? WHY???!!!!!!
  14. Nice volley there Cousin Shank. I offer up this bit of coolness. And a thought. How much fucking fun do you think Bonnie Raitt was around this time. Holy shit.
  15. @Buzzrock What are we getting?
  16. @Skipper If your fingers blister up, put vitamin E oil on the tips of your fingers.
  17. This thread is a good idea. 3 neighborhood kids (10-13 yrs old) have decided to play the guitar during this time. I've worked with the parents to get them into decent guitars and the kids have been asking me questions about different things. I've thought about offering to have a group session with them, just to see where they are. Then maybe work one-on-one with them if they want. One kid plays the violin in middle school and when I showed him that the violin and mandolin were tuned the same, and then the mandolin is just the 4 strings of the guitar, flipped upside down, his eyes lit up. It was like I could see his mind working. Really cool to see that excitement. My main advice to beginnings, and I know the OP is beyond this, but it is in dealing with switching between chords. Don't worry about fretting each note exactly as you change chords. Keep your strumming pattern consistent. Hell, most of the time, progressively changing the notes from one chord to the other sounds cool AF anyway.
  18. Holy Shit, @El Diablo. I've been laughing at this for about the last 20 minutes. Triple Tapa Rep my friend!
  19. Thanks Dewey, Twice and Talent: I'm learning that there is a lot of stuff with my wife that being sober probably isn't going to fix. I'm going to have a pretty big decision this year about that. I'm still dealing with the stuff I have learned about myself this past year...how I am the way I am. One thing mentioned above is taking things personally. Stuff at work and shit my wife says to me. Not so much what she says, but how she says it. It all has a long, historical basis, and I know that now. Anyway, I really appreciate your input.
  20. My one year was May 8. Since you are fresh off yr two, what are some things that were harder in the second year?
  21. Wow. That dude is an artist. Really cool to see him do his craft.
  22. That cam whore blocked me a long time ago when I congratulated her on her ability to heal a compound fractured arm in 2 days. For those that don't remember, she posted a picture of an xray for a broken arm, saying it was her. Quick reverse photo look-up. Lying whore was busted. Still, my favorite is the picture of her putting together some bunk beds in her air bnb, using a cordless drill, with no fucking battery in it.
  23. Amazing! And that bulldog with the sombrero is the greatest mascot logo ever. Thanks for posting that.
