  1. I picked cornet. Quit after 3 weeks. Principal called me to the office asking why I quit. "I also play guitar. It's a TON more fun." He said, "As long as you're doing something musical." All of these years later, out of the 30 of us, only me and one of the chicks playing drums are still playing.
  2. Dammit @bluto It doesn't show here: https://pages.e2ma.net/pages/12695/45668
  3. Damn, they played that all last summer on the Ranch. She was a new artist I had never heard of. Still looking.
  4. Ha. People say that about me all of the time.
  5. About to ya say. I always wondered what Isbell thought about it. And like @jimmyjazz mentioned.....I'm pretty sure Billy Joe Shaver gave her shooting lessons.
  6. I get it. I really do. He sold a lot of records. I was actually surprised to see that he was in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Truly, good for him. Songwriting is hard work and what he set up with Big Machine is outstanding. I just think the term of 'legend' is a bit much in his case. To me, record sales isn't measuring stick. He sold more than probably John Prine, Kris Kristofferson & Emmylou collectively. Those seem like (to me at least) people that are in the legend category.
  7. Also why I was hoping they would record that MusiCares night at the Troubadour. MusiCares is paid for by the Grammy's and it takes place at the same rehab where Isbell went. It's a really great thing they do and it doesn't get enough press. They guy who runs the program at that treatment center is a very talented dude and a great guy.
  8. Throwing the term "Legend" around a little too easily.
  9. Best American Roots song (whatever that is )and best Americana album. Dude is pure class.
  10. I never realized Toby Keith was involved with starting up Big Machine. Wow.
  11. 12. A bunch of cool people got together at the Troubadour and paid tribute to a song thief. But we got this gem out of it. I read about the show but didn't think it would be recorded. Still, someone got a decent video of it. Isbell and Sadler also did a cover of Kodachrome.

    RIP Melanie

Hell. She played at Woodstock. Early on, people were lumping her into the Joni Mitchell track. Had a couple of borderline hits that got critics talking....then Brand New Key came out and all that critical praise went away. Bob Lefsetz had a long article about her recently. I kind of liked this song. She wrote this one after Woodstock. The person before her at passed out candles to the crowd.

    Power Pop

Have you heard Ted's album with Aimee Mann?
  16. This is a great analysis of Wichita Lineman. Strong Songs is a great podcast if you enjoy song structure, writing and arrangements. Dude is super talented and spends a lot of time dissecting songs. https://strongsongspodcast.com/search/wichita lineman
  17. In my house, the vegetable drawer is just a staging station for the compost piles. I probably have the most expensive compost in the county.
  18. See did get an implant but couldn't hear the beeping. And yes, that is exactly what she was doing. Me under the detector and she is under one of the hallway lights. Very helpful.
  19. I start hearing a random beep......need to find the suspect detector bitching about a low battery. Wife is following me around as I try to locate the beeping. Constantly asking, "which one is it?" Kitchen smoke? Nope hallway smoke? Nope Upstairs smoke 1? Nope Upstairs smoke 2? Nope Now I'm standing under the carbon monoxide detector waiting for that motherfucker to beep. Her: Maybe it's one of the light bulbs!
  20. Thanks for trying to get this back on topic @uoftorange. And strong effort by wife. VERY strong. For the rest of you motherfuckers. FOCUS. We don't need advise from Dr. Phil or Dr. Ruth....we just need to wallow in each others pain. Now, back on track me homies.
