  1. Lake's surgery is being done by the UT Team Dr. that does all of their knee surgeries including Cade Brewer's. Rehab will be through the Dr's in-house PT.
  2. surgery is next week and he is getting the last type of surgery you described.
  3. I love how fluid and elusive he is in the open field. He is also extremely sudden. He will excel in this offense. Great get!
  4. With the great tradition of running backs at UT, from Earl to Metcalf to Ricky, Holmes, Cedric, Jamal, Foreman, and now Ingram, I will never understand a Texas kid passing up the chance to be the next great back at Texas. For the previous 7 or 8 years, I understand. But now? When the program is on the way back, the offensive line is stacking up for years to come, the QB room looks incredible, and skill position players are too numerous to name, I just dont get it. How could you not want to run behind this offensive line for the next 3 or 4 years and play with Sam, Roschon, Hudson, and JaQuinden in the backfield? Insanity for a Texas kid to want to go any other place.
  5. funny enough, he is probably the worst prospect out of that group.
  6. wasnt orakpo 6'2ish and 200 lbs coming out of HS?
  7. Comp is Orakpo?
  8. i havent seen Wiley throw, but in a surprise pick, imma go with the LT kid!
  9. Well thats what Texas's offense looks like with Hudson Card at QB and Lake at TE. I'd say Stein's offense is about 80% Herman's with 20% held over from LT/Morris.
  10. Lake can absolutely throw the ball around the field. He might just have the strongest arm at LT but just doesnt have the same feel for the game or make the right reads as the other Qbs. LT has several trick plays for Lake throwing to Hudson.
  11. Lake played QB until last Fall. He was the starting QB on the freshman B team and then the backup QB on the JV team heading into Fall camp. The coaches talked him into switching to the Y (TE) position for the JV team. He dominated and became the main target of the JV offense. He was bumped up to Varsity toward the end of the regular season and throughout the playoffs where he became the starter due to injury and instantly provided a spark to the offense. i will add that the first time Lake played TE was in 5th grade when he was on my 7s team at the state tournament. He was a monster target then. 😉 he was on the varsity basketball team as a sophomore as well. the kid is dunking machine. To Fud's point, he is a good athlete who is already 6'5 and around 220 lbs but is a raw prospect at the TE position. He has a ton of upside. He will easily get to 240 -250 lbs at UT. he is a better overall TE prospect than Brewer coming out of LT with a much larger frame. His hands are close to Brewer's. His route running isnt close at this point. He is similar in speed. But Lake will be a more than willing blocker, despite the fact he was a QB, once he learns how to block. he is a tough, hard-nosed kid. he is one of my son's best friends, is a hard worker, and all around great kid.
  12. my son slept in. lol.... he just woke up and texted me about it. oh well, i tried.
  13. Let me ask around.
  14. i dont think we are accepting new move-ins. we are closed. sorry, the moose out front should have told ya!
  15. one of the coaches had mentioned it to me during the recruitment of the safety that switched commitments from ND to Aggy when Elko switched. He said that Elko learned his scheme under Orlando and they have been friends for a long time. But i had never looked it up until now. it looks like he played Rover at Penn while Orlando was the LB coach there. Rover is a hybrid safety/lb in that scheme but is coached by the LB coach.
  16. yeah i was speaking more generally just about that level of player is what we need for our D scheme to reach its full potential. We are not a scheme where the Dline is asked to cover two gaps and allow the LBs to make all the plays. Orlando wants the Dline to disrupt and penetrate. This is a scheme that wants and features Dline production. I think Sweat and Warren can be added to those types of players as well.
  17. i imagine a DL of Broughton at DE, Coburn/Ojomo at NT, and Collins at DE, with Ossai at B-backer and think that is the type of Dline that wins National Championships... I know the coaches are countering the 4-3 arguments by pointing to a number of things: 1. Texas and Houston DL production; 2. Alabama and Georgia play similar schemes; 3. Elko learned his scheme under Orlando; 4. Orlando's scheme is at its best, like most D schemes, when the Dline is disruptive and penetrating; and 5. that we play multiple fronts 4 down, 3 down, no down depending on the situation in the same way that most NFL teams do. Most are listening but you can only do so much when the other side is paying. I havent heard about Broughton being Leal'd so I think there is still hope.
  18. Not sure about that. I heard from two different coaches that Whittington is the real deal and might be a better running back than Ingram.
  19. do you think they were agreeing to provide wellness checks for illegal immigrants?
  20. so they should be turned away left to die on the street? what do you think we do now?
  21. i thought Harris did really well. I did not think Biden performed poorly. I thought he did about like I expected him to do with having a target on his back. He was fine. I liked Hickenlooper, Swalwell, and Gillibrande (?) for different reasons. The author was humorous but should not have been on the stage. Bernie was the old man yelling at clouds like I expected but he is important to have in the race for his progressive ideas. The only one I was disappointed with was Pete. I probably had unrealistic expectations. I thought he was going to hit a homerun so I was disappointed with the singles he hit. He didnt do bad just not as good as I thought he would. Coming out of the first round my top 10: 1. Harris 2. Warren 3. Biden 4. Beto 5. Klobuchar 6. Booker 7. Pete 8. Hickenlooper 9. Inslee 10. Castro
  22. We were there last December and had a great time. We ate at a lot of the places in Heavenly Village area but I think my favorites were the hole in the wall places we stopped at along the drive around the the Lake. Craft beer and great burgers everywhere.
