  1. My friend's family had property just on the other side of a big hill on the highway coming out of town. We used to buys tons of Roman candles and bottle rockets and shoot them at the cars just before or as they crested the hill. We got pretty good at aiming them too, so we could hit the windshield pretty easily. One time there were no cars for a decent amount of time, so my friend got bored and started shooting bottle rockets over a storage building on the property. He ended up setting a hay meadow on fire and it didn't take much for the Sheriff to put 2 and 2 together. Luckily, I got the fuck outta there before they came and my buddy wasn't a snitch.
  2. National seeds and 40 win seasons are nice. They don't mean shit if Texas can't win their own regional. The effort that they have put forth in the Big 12 tournament so far, won't win a regional, much less compete for a championship. Top to bottom, that was a shitty effort by everyone but the pitching. I'm sorry my expectations are different from yours, but they aren't misplaced. And BTW, I watched every game that was televised this season. And last. And the one before that. And so on.
  3. Elite teams don't struggle to hit the ball against the 2nd worst team in the conference when their pitching staffs are spent. Totally unacceptable, shitty home plate ump aside. Terrible effort.
  4. So you're saying that me expecting Texas to play like an elite team is too much? Isn't that the goal? To build a mechanism that can compete with the Arkansas and Vandys of the current college baseball world? Not one that can barely beat a middling WV team. Winning conference tournament games are nice, but that's just part of the process. It shouldn't be such a fucking struggle for any top 8 national seed to simply get a hit against the (checks notes) second worst team in the Big 12.
  5. LOL. Players doing what they are supposed to do isn't exactly enough to overcome the frustration of about a million shitty at bats and keeping a mediocre team in the game all night. Witt was lights out, but shit that was still nerve wracking. I'm still not 100% sure that double actually happened. I don't seem to remember them putting the ball in play more than the 2 caught at the fence.
  6. I'm happy for the win, but I didn't enjoy one minute of that game. It felt like a loss. Hoping for better tomorrow.
  7. Fuck that plate ump! Put that in your pipe and smoke it asshole.
  8. Witt is the kind of guy I would hate if he pitched for someone else. He's cocky as fuck.

  10. This team is way too fundamentally unsound to be successful in the post-season. Terrible at bat after terrible at bat after terrible at bat against a mediocre-at-best team. And the shitty baserunning all season long, plus spotty defense are all symptomatic of not being very disciplined. The team has plenty of talent, they just aren't well coached. The fact that they tied for the Big 12 regular season championship is both a miracle and a pretty good indicator the the Big 12 is a paper tiger this year. If it weren't for pitching, we'd be firing Pierce this year.
  11. Against a team that won't qualify for the NCAAs AND is out of FUCKING pitching.
  12. RD seems really dug in on being wrong about the Top 4 finish thing. I can tell you, as someone who works in the media, the overwhelming majority of sports writers and sports broadcasters who vote in the AP poll, never played a down of organized team football. On top of that, they are also very biased in their opinions about the teams they cover. Nothing about their backgrounds or opinions even reasonably qualifies them to be in a position to determine who the best teams are, or how they stack up with each other. Additionally, it's well known the majority of coaches in FBS Football hate having to deal with voting in the Coaches Poll because, with their busy schedules, they don't have the time to research all of the teams in college football on a weekly basis. That's why they pawn it off on assistants or GAs, and one former coach I know personally (a College Football HOF member) would get his secretary to fill out his poll and then he would "look it over" before submitting it. So no, that poll isn't reliable either. But the real truth is, once it went to a playoff system, the final polls became irrelevant. The top 4 teams are the ones in the playoff. It doesn't take much smarts to figure that out. So in short . . . no, aggy was NOT a top 4 team last year.
  13. Wow! Such sad, heartbreaking and devastating news. You can tell by the tributes that he was well loved among his teammates. His family has had to endure too much. Prayers for Sam, his mom, his sister and all of those who knew and loved him. May they all be comforted by God's grace, love and mercy. RIP Jake.
  14. I'm relived that justice was served, but I don't think there's much to be happy about. Chauvin ended Floyd's life and ruined his own and countless others' lives and nothing will undo that. Hopefully it leads to more accountability in similar situations and better policing in the future, but I have practically no reason to believe it will. Until we reduce the influence of police unions, improve screening and selection processes for applicants/hiring, amend training procedures and end stupid policies like qualified immunity that shield bad cops from being held responsible for their actions, the issue will persist.
  15. Got my 2nd shot of Moderna yesterday morning. After sleeping in this morning, I woke up feeling really tired and sluggish most of the day, and while I didn't have a fever, my body temp was about 1 degree warmer than I usually run. I started feeling better later in the afternoon and aside from a little soreness in the injection arm, I feel normal so far.
  16. Give it a couple years. Lots of catching up to do on other, more pressing fronts.
  17. Sorry for your loss Nicole. You can tell by the pictures Bitty was a great doggo. Good girl Little Bitty.
  18. Me and my brats are sending out prayers and good vibes for Little Bitty. Hoping for the best for your sweet pup.
  19. Cough, cough. Baylor. Cough, cough.
  20. They could have video of UGA and Bama directly paying players and killing people and the SEC, NCAA & ESPN would all look the other way and not do shit. The only thing even remotely as close to being as crooked as the government is the SEC. I mean, pretty much every big time NCAA team is paying players under the table on some level, but the SEC is on a whole different level of cheating. It would almost be fucking impressive how brazen about it they are, if it didn't offend my moral sensibilities.
  21. My mom's was you eat what I'm cooking or you go hungry. Aside from my birthday dinner, she never once asked what I liked or wanted for dinner. Also we never had soft drinks or store bought sweets like cookies, cakes or pies around, except when my dad would go get generic cookies in a white box with the word "cookies" in black printed on it. They were like cardboard, but he'd get them for when he went fishing or something like that. Otherwise we only got cookies or other sweets on special occasions or holidays and they were always homemade. Also, when my mom was alive, if we ate in the formal dining room, we almost always had to be "dressed", which meant shirt with a collar and pants, not t-shirts and shorts. Oh, and don't fart in the car. She wasn't having that either.
  22. Okay, this might be a crazy question, but I've been struggling with it for a while. I have 3 doxies (I posted pics on this thread a little while back), technically 2 are mine and 1 is my niece's, but he's been staying with me for the better part of the past 3 years while she is away at college. Anyway, at the end of the day, once I'm settling in to relax in my recliner, watching TV and surfing the internet on my laptop, the dogs all love to climb into my lap and cuddle, play and eventually sleep. I love it at first, but after a while having between 40 and 50 pounds of dogs sleeping on top of you gets old. I usually let them have some lap time, then send them to sleep somewhere else. They have a sofa, 2 comfy chairs, a dog bed and a large dog pillow that they can sleep on. Problem is, they always and only want in my lap, and I feel guilty about wanting some "me time". Am I out of order here? Am I being selfish or harming them emotionally by sending them away? What do y'all think?
