  1. Cough, cough. Baylor. Cough, cough.
  2. They could have video of UGA and Bama directly paying players and killing people and the SEC, NCAA & ESPN would all look the other way and not do shit. The only thing even remotely as close to being as crooked as the government is the SEC. I mean, pretty much every big time NCAA team is paying players under the table on some level, but the SEC is on a whole different level of cheating. It would almost be fucking impressive how brazen about it they are, if it didn't offend my moral sensibilities.
  3. My mom's was you eat what I'm cooking or you go hungry. Aside from my birthday dinner, she never once asked what I liked or wanted for dinner. Also we never had soft drinks or store bought sweets like cookies, cakes or pies around, except when my dad would go get generic cookies in a white box with the word "cookies" in black printed on it. They were like cardboard, but he'd get them for when he went fishing or something like that. Otherwise we only got cookies or other sweets on special occasions or holidays and they were always homemade. Also, when my mom was alive, if we ate in the formal dining room, we almost always had to be "dressed", which meant shirt with a collar and pants, not t-shirts and shorts. Oh, and don't fart in the car. She wasn't having that either.
  4. Okay, this might be a crazy question, but I've been struggling with it for a while. I have 3 doxies (I posted pics on this thread a little while back), technically 2 are mine and 1 is my niece's, but he's been staying with me for the better part of the past 3 years while she is away at college. Anyway, at the end of the day, once I'm settling in to relax in my recliner, watching TV and surfing the internet on my laptop, the dogs all love to climb into my lap and cuddle, play and eventually sleep. I love it at first, but after a while having between 40 and 50 pounds of dogs sleeping on top of you gets old. I usually let them have some lap time, then send them to sleep somewhere else. They have a sofa, 2 comfy chairs, a dog bed and a large dog pillow that they can sleep on. Problem is, they always and only want in my lap, and I feel guilty about wanting some "me time". Am I out of order here? Am I being selfish or harming them emotionally by sending them away? What do y'all think?
  5. Many years ago I once worked on a video for a self defense specialist who did training for big execs, politicians/diplomats, and celebrities. He was a former Navy SEAL or special forces guy, can't remember. One of the first things he said was never, ever, ever use a urinal or trough if you absolutely don't have to. Always use a stall, preferably with a locking door, especially if you're anywhere slightly sketchy. He said that you would stunned how many people are robbed, attacked or assassinated with their dick in their hand. That was probably 25 years ago now, but I still think about it every time I walk into a public bathroom.
  6. I get that, but he could have done grad at Texas too. I was under the impression that he had 2 more years of eligibility left. I didn't realize that he had already graduated. His dad didn't post anything on his social media about it, which is unusual. Maybe I missed it though. When you get my age shit all just starts to run together.
  7. Really surprising to me. I grew up with his dad Willie. Him playing at Texas was a dream for both Marqez and Willie. I'm guessing that he didn't fit into the new scheme as well. Maybe it had something to do with the EoT thing too. He was the first to Tweet it when the whole thing came out. I've heard through the grapevine that Sark is gonna be a stickler for having the players stay and sing it. Maybe he wasn't on board for that. I do know that in the beginning they were close to Herman and liked him a lot. Maybe that played into it too. Don't know. Not gonna dig. Marqez is a good kid and his family pushes him to be smart and make the right decisions in the big picture. I hope that's what this turns out to be. Best of luck to him.
  8. It could be anything, but usually in the case of my brats, it's because they've eaten grass or frogs or dead birds or bugs or any of the million other things that doxies find and eat when their owners aren't looking. For me, I usually find out by being awakened at 3am to the sounds of one of them trying to puke in the bed. If it's not the bed, it's another piece of furniture. How it is that they know not to go potty on the furniture, but don't know better when it comes to puking is beyond me. I hope you get things figured out and Bitty gets to feeling better.
  9. For a big hunk of meat like a pork shoulder or a brisket, go heavy on the rub. A big piece of meat can take plenty of seasoning and the salt and pepper helps create the bark. That's why you use course salt and pepper. With pulled pork I always do a sauce too. Pork dries out way too fast to not at least have a sauce as an option. Some people mix the sauce into the shredded meat, but I usually add it as needed on my sandwich or taco or however I'm eating it.
  10. For brisket and other beef I do a dry brine that's 2 parts course kosher salt, 1/2 part onion powder and 1/2 part garlic powder. I also make a 3 pepper blend with 2 parts course black pepper, 1/2 part red flake pepper and 1/2 chipotle or cayenne pepper(your preference). When applying, the brine mix goes on first and then the pepper mix, both in equal proportions. They are applied when the meat is first out of the refrigerator and allowed to set up as the internal temp of the meat climbs to as close to room temp as possible before going on the smoker/grill. For pork ribs, pork tenderloin and pulled pork I use a rub consisting of 1/4 cup light brown sugar, 1 tbsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp ground cayenne pepper, 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tbsp kosher salt, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder and 1/2 tsp ground black pepper. On the ribs, after smoking 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on the bark, I place them in foil, meat side down, on a bed of brown sugar and a half a stick of butter cut up into 4 or 5 chunks and spread out on the sugar. Then wrap tight and smoke another 1.5 to 2 hours wrapped, still meat side down. Then when pretty much done, take them out of the foil and apply a little more of the rub to the meat side and cook them meat side up until the crust reforms. For chicken I use 2 tablespoons paprika, 1 tablespoon kosher salt, 4 teaspoons dark brown sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons granulated garlic, 1 teaspoon celery salt, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme, 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoons mustard powder, 1/2 teaspoon celery seed and 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper. I usually add one tablespoon of baking powder to help crisp up the skin so it's not rubbery, especially on wings, but you could cook without it too, especially if cooking at 325 or more. Sorry for the novel.
  11. Between the 2 teams they put up over 1200 yards of total offense and almost 900 yards of passing. Crazy.
  12. From what I've heard from some folks who would be in the know, the SE reno is expected to produce the same amount of seats as before, give or take. But the hidden gem is the addition of thousands more SRO. So potentially they can stay even or reduce seating slightly, in exchange for more bells and whistles, and still be able to boost attendance numbers for marquee games. It was suggested to me that perhaps CDC and the gang are keeping mum on actual numbers so they can surprise little brother with higher capacity than that erector set stadium in Hooterville. I don't care what the capacity and attendance trends are, we have to always have a bigger and better stadium than aggy. Stadium size may not matter to us, but it absolutely does matter to 17 & 18 year old recruits. I can't believe we let those goobers pass us in the facilities race and have waited so long to catch up. They should never be allowed to have such an advantage for more than a season or two.
  13. I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking the same thing.
  14. I didn't click the link, was there any video of this dumb shit vaporizing himself? Along with the OU player getting a beat down, video of this would really top off the past few days for me.
  15. Me and my 88 year old Pops got our 1st dose of the Moderna this morning. Aside from it causing me to go cross-eyed and now I can hear colors, there don't seem to be any side effects.
  16. I wrapped my outside faucets with large towels and duct tape. Didn't drip them, but one has a slight drip anyway and I did drip my all of my bathroom cold water faucets inside. I only lost power one time for an hour though. I was mostly worried bout the pipes to my hot water heater so I made sure to run a decent amount of hot water before I went to bed each night and would shower first thing in the morning. Had no problems at all.
  17. Kinda what I was thinking as I read that too. Pretty much everything that I have read that ERCOT did in the days and weeks leading up to this seems pretty counterproductive to me. They act surprised that it got cold in Texas in February. I keep reading over and over about how the equipment wasn't made to handle the extreme cold. I just don't get that. I know in my job we purchase equipment so robust that even the most extreme scenarios will be covered. How the fuck do they not have a game plan for extreme cold in Winter? You know, when it's known to get extremely cold from time to time. I'm starting to wonder if Cal McNair is running ERCOT too.
  18. Wait! You keep your cocaine in the airbags?
  19. Dane's dad Casey is a life long friend of mine. I'm not really a Rangers guy, but I'm happy he might get a chance to play closer to home.
  20. Jesus Christ what a way for this coaching transition to end. From maybe Urban is coming, to when the fuck are they gonna shit-can MENSA, to "they hired Sark? Really?" and through the search for assistants, this has been one hell of a fucking ride. Two things bug me though. First, how could Sark and CDC be in charge, but still be so removed from the Longhorn experience that they thought Stoops would ever be okay here? And, secondly, with the staff being set, and all of the drama played out, what the fuck am I going to waste my time on between now and baseball season?
  21. It's where they put Bevo during games. That was 2 or 3 message boards ago, so . . .
  22. I was a charter season ticket holder for the Texans and had them for the first 3 seasons. I had to give them up because I moved out of state and by the time I moved back, the organization was so very obviously not well run, I didn't think it was worth my investment. Growing up an Oilers fan, I so wanted the Texans to fill the void made by their leaving and maybe even take that next step. However, after the debacle about the fight song in 2003, it was clear that the McNairs were far outside of their element in the NFL. For those who don't know, they already had that Clay Walker song which was pretty popular with the fans, but they decided they needed an official song. So they had about 3 or 4 other songs produced, and then let the fans and season ticket holders vote on them. The Walker song was far and away the leading vote-getter. When the time came, they introduced a God awful, operatic-classical crossover that Bob McNair very openly said was his wife Janice's favorite and that's why they selected it. They completely ignored the fan vote. When they officially introduced the song before a game, the boos were so loud throughout the entire song, they never played or spoke of it again. I knew at that moment the organization was a shit show. Nothing that's happened since has convinced me otherwise. Ownership is completely disconnected from the fan base. So ya, all you have to do is figure out what the Texans SHOULD do, look in the opposite direction, and you'll see what they WILL do. Every. Fucking. Time.
