  1. https://www.mlb.com/news/dodgers-2023-draft-signings-tracker Dodgers draft tracker including signing bonuses. They think alot of pick 8. Hopefully, Dylan is getting excellent advice. Best to him and his Family.
  2. Tanner was scheduled to pitch but is not. Montgomery should be playing for Yarmouth.
  3. Montgomery is at the Cape playing for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. Listed as a pitcher, but has played RF in the 2 games he has been there. Yarmouth is in 1st place in their Division so he may want to help them win the title. Kid loves the game. Wouldn't fault him for being at the beach with his girlfriend considering all the games he played this year (Stanford, NCAA playoffs, Team USA). http://baseball.pointstreak.com/team_roster.html?teamid=3430&seasonid=33591
  4. Santa Barbara vs Arroyo Seco Flores starting at SS.
  5. However, Nixon had a team leading 1.03 WHIP with 24k's in those 20 innings. Good luck to him !
  6. Seems challenges for officials are being recognized. Large increase in ejections. HOUSTON — During a session at the annual Texas High School Coaches Association Convention where the University Interscholastic League updates some of the state's athletic directors, new athletic director Ray Zepeda showed an alarming number on a large screen. During the session, Zepeda was talking about sportsmanship and showed that during the 2022-23 school year there were 3,199 total ejections during UIL contests. That number is up 50% over the last five years, and it is something that Zepeda later addressed during a session with the media at the annual gathering of the state's high school coaches. Among the sports that were listed, 1,179 were recorded in soccer, 1,057 in football and 335 in baseball, and Zepeda said they have to work to change those numbers. "I think you saw those numbers and it was a pretty good increase in the number of ejections whether it be athlete ejections from contests, or officials ejecting spectators from contests," Zepeda said. "We've seen a pretty dramatic rise over the past five years, and I think the data I presented showed that." Zepeda said the UIL was working with coaches, athletic directors and officials associations to find out what can work to reduce those numbers, and during the session, Zepeda asked athletic directors to work with their coaches on sportsmanship and reacting to officials. "This is educationally based athletics we have happening and it's hard to have positive outcomes when you don't have positive atmospheres," Zepeda said. "So we are going to start with ourselves first, with our coaches, with our member school districts to try to maybe police that up a little bit better. It may be to have a specific strategy for coaching, sportsmanship not only with our athletes but also with their parents as well. We hope that's going to make a big difference." Zepeda added also working closely with officials association to offer help where needed, and work to increase numbers as many official associations are seeing shortages. "We are also going to lean into our official associations and see how can we better partner with them and work with them to get a better handle on the competitive atmospheres in and around our contests," Zepeda said. https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/high-school/2023/07/18/uil-officials-working-to-reduce-number-of-ejections-during-contests/70394557007/
  7. Encouraged by Mitchell's home run prospectus working with Singleton and the warmer weather. Have you seen any reports on OKSt, Baylor, and Tech adding prominent players ? Need a strong conference in final year to further challenge OU. Encouraged by the progress Tech made under Craig Snider in year 1.
  8. Montgomery just completed playing for Team USA after a busy year. May have came on an official/unofficial visit and to visit his girlfriend. Strickly a rumor about is he wants to also pitch and received limited time at Stanford, hence the portal. Big year upcoming for him before the '24 draft. Bright young man, SEC boards stated he scored a 35 on his ACT, both parents are physicians. Best to him.
  9. We owe it to Tanner and LBJ (who honored us by returning) to acquire an experienced catcher with few or no question marks from the portal while the younger catchers develop. Pierce and company may feel someone on the roster is capable - time will tell. For one reason or the other, Galvan is not receiving much playing time at catcher this Summer. Perhaps he has a nagging injury, low batting average, etc.
  10. Saw a bit of B12 Commisioner Brett Yormark's press conference at B12 Media Days. He remarked that B12 will (quote) "double down" on maintaining the current championship sites for all sports. Presents a possible power struggle with OU and their fans since they would likely petition the SEC to move to OK City which is a great venue, albeit the weather. Will be interesting to see the thoughts of the sponsor Phillips 66. Very likely the SEC Tournament will continue on a rotational host basis. McCombs needs some immediate upgrades. Perhaps lower the fences and have better seating in right field with the addition of fan friendly seating/areas with awnings, etc like other SEC sites.
  11. His Dad played for Tom Holliday at OKSt. So respects the college game. All State catcher in high school. Caught some his freshman year, iirc. Catcher is an issue you gurus (said with respect) haven't addressed. Schuessler is having a pretty good Summer at Heraldsburg (CCL) hitting .282 with alot of PT Galvan has not received much PT as catcher at SBF mostly DH and !B and hitting .115. Need Guillemette. Summer ball can be an outlier, either pro or con. Guillemette hit about .200 at the Cape but had a solid year.
  12. Tuned in to watch Tanner as he was scheduled to pitch (Chatham vs Cotuit). Announcer stated Tanner returned home for the draft. Good Luck to him. Game has been delayed by fog.
  13. https://und.com/sports/softball/roster/season/2022-23/player/joley-mitchell/ Impressive ! Hometown Rose Bud, Ark All ACC 1st Team, 15-17 SB's Perhaps Arkansas was not interested or NIL. Arkansas' hitting was not good last year.
  14. Piqued my interest. Thought there may be a La connection. Allen JUCO is in Kansas. Mitchell made his commitment to the Tigers since sophomore year, and it's taken Sinton and his family to get there. He plans on studying Sports Management at LSU. Mitchell's dad played college baseball for Allen JUCO and then McNeese State, so Mitchell has an experience coach in the family. "It's been me and my dad you know," said Mitchell. "He's been my hitting coach, my everything coach pretty much my whole life. Me and him just growing up and really getting me to shape the player I am today." https://www.kristv.com/sports/friday-night-fever/sinton-baseball-players-ink-national-letter-of-intent-includes-nations-top-catcher
  15. Happy for Molly ! Didn't realize she was from Iowa. Just got married a few months ago (nice story, with photos link 1). Always liked her demeanor and attitude. https://www.theknot.com/us/molly-jacobsen-and-robbie-mccargar-oct-2023/our-story In her year playing with the Longhorns, Jacobsen recorded a 14-6 record with 76 strikeouts. Her team also made a Super Regional appearance that season, The Iowa-native also brings experience in the Southeastern Conference. She totaled 19 wins, five saves, and 230 strikeouts with a 2.53 ERA over two seasons in Oxford. "Molly is an upcoming star in our profession," Anderson said in a press release, on Friday. "I've always admired her work ethic and determination in her playing career, which has carried over now to her coaching career. She has been mentored by some phenomenal softball minds in our game and I look forward to sharing the bullpen with her and our pitching staff." https://abc17news.com/sports/2023/07/07/mizzous-larrisa-anderson-adds-to-the-softball-staff/
  16. Texas Coaching Tree Congratulations to Nadia Taylor (Houston) and Kaitlyn Slack (Kansas) who have been named assistant coaches. Nadia was at Michigan St last year, Slack a volunteer asst at Kansas. Suppose Mike White will soon name a third assistant. https://uhcougars.com/news/2023/5/29/softball-hires-taylor-to-coaching-staff.aspx https://kuathletics.com/mcfalls-promotes-kaitlyn-slack-to-assistant-coach/
  17. Tenn just approved a major upgrade of their baseball facilities to be completed by 2025.
  18. Very happy for Tanner, good showing at the Cape - needed that for the draft. Chatham's manager/head coach is Tom Holliday (Texas pitching coach '04-'06).

  20. Courtney graduated in May, good for her !
  21. Tolle had a 97k's in 85.2 inn, 97/19 K/BB ratio, .245 OBA (lowest on staff) 4.62 ERA not impressive, but a definite take. Tougher competition but Saarloos is one of the best. OU, and I am sure others, really wanted Tolle (from Yukon, Ok) but TCU NLI won the day. Sorry, if already posted:
  22. Congrats on a great run. Impressed by Jay Johnson's demeanor and ability to keep the players focused as a team. Like most Californians, he is very cerebral and articulate. He does have a unique style where he seems to make all in game decisions (including calling the pitches) without input from his assistants. At least as portrayed on TV. Will be interesting to see who replaces pitching coach Wes Johnson.
  23. Jacques Doucet, Baton Rouge sports reporter, states Thatcher Hurd will start. Fan boards say the same.
  24. @Storm the Field Thank you for bringing sanity to a thread which was once a source of good info but is now a political discourse.
  25. No idea on the recruitment of Isa Torres. @Js1 may know. Google tells me she was committed to aggy to play with her sister, Mariana. However, her sister transferred to McNeese after the coaching change. Viviana Martinez put up simillar numbers in Arizona. She was just selected to play on Team USA in the Japan Series. Similar high school numbers also for Goode, Scott, and Washington. That said, FSU Coach Lonni Alameda (one of the best) doesn't waste scholarships. Following a standout freshman campaign under fifth-year head coach Mike White, Texas' Viviana Martinez has been selected to a Women's National Team (WNT) to compete in the 2023 Japan All-Star Series slated to take place from August 4 to August 7 USA Softball announced Thursday. https://texassports.com/news/2023/6/22/martinez-selected-to-represent-usa-softball-in-2023-japan-all-star-series.aspx
