  1. Sry prof, we posted at same time. Can't get to delete. @bschoolprof
  2. B12 is the #1 RPI Conference due to 3 in top 10 ? Regardless, hope we finish ahead of OKSt, but... Amazed OKSt only went down 1 spot (correct ?) in RPI and we only went up 1 or 2 ? Suppose their overall strength of schedule. Tech could take one from them in Lubbock and OU could sweep, though they play in Stillwater. Not sure of impact of conference tournament if you win 2 games. KennyG has a task to regroup the team after the sweep, similar to Pierce and Texas Baseball. Not an easy task. Below predictions were 21 April prior to this weekend's action but mainly gives some idea how other conferences are viewed as of 21 April. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/softball/d1/ncaa-womens-softball-rpi https://www.ncaa.com/news/softball/article/2023-04-20/2023-softball-field-64-predicted-d1softball NORMAN CLEMSON 1. 3. More concerned about the RPI. Any chance of finishing top 8 or even top 10 ? OU beat Baylor 7-0 last night in Waco, DH today. Was hoping for a miracle on the Brazos but not to be.
  4. Just a guess, they likely did not choose to request a waiver to the 72hr rule (series complete by team's arrival) and more importantly there is a 50-60% chance of rain on Sunday (showers, not heavy like yesterday). Any positive is that it is a good "dry run" for the postseason.
  5. https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/af33f412a374076d1c22726da64dfc60951a6df5af4c21674b40e8d70b5d3753 80 - 90% chance of t'storms tonight. In other news, OKSt and Wichita St have developed quite a rivalry. Only 128 miles apart. Check article link for more info. As js mentioned, they will be angry. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/top-college-softball-team-stunned-by-epic-go-ahead-hr/ar-AA1a4fVW?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=8772c3396a07
  6. And especially after eliminating them in last year's WCWS. Would be nice to get Bella back. These games are where she excels. However, postseason is more important. Edit: Look for KennyG to test Atwood's arm.
  7. iirc, @closetojumping (pls correct me) posted that OU dedicates most of their NLI funding to Football, Softball, Gymnastics. OU Basketball finished in last place in the B12 with a 5-13 record. Thus, in today's times, difficult to recruit impact players.
  8. This ! Karen and her friend appear to be "sketchy" individuals with financial issues. Karen likely told her friend to take the items off Facebook after the call from the owner. Inform the owner of the latest conversation with Karen. May want to ask for her assistance and telling Karen to return the items by Tuesday. Also, mention that Karen has possibly violated federal law 18 U.S.C 1708. May want to call the postal office for advice on reporting the incident. Even if the item is not returned, if the item is not retained with the intent of possessing it unlawfully, then the innocent recipient does not violate § 1708. If the recipient later develops the intent to possess the item unlawfully, such as when the recipient later decides to cash the check inside the letter, then the item is stolen, and the recipient unlawfully possesses the item and violates § 1708. https://www.hg.org/legal-articles/theft-or-receipt-of-stolen-mail-53760
  9. Great composure by Whitehead. You can tell he was a quarterback.
  10. Perhaps the Wed game @ Texas St was a factor. Game was much closer than the final score, 4-0, for good reason pitched Morgan against a higher rated team than Kansas. Czech continues to be susceptible to the HR ball. I think she now has given up 11 or 12. 5 errors, returning to old ways. If there had to be a loss like this, some consolation it was to a team coached by Jennifer McFalls and Kaitlyn Slack. Appreciate their past contributions to the program.
  11. https://txhighschoolbaseball.com/ Website with info, schedules, etc. Will be handy when playoffs start in a few weeks. (4 May, I think ?)
  12. Stanford Live Stream | Pac-12 Tech vs Stanford via Stanford's home network.
  13. Nice article about Whitt which makes one appreciate his journey, the way he has matured, and the hope for continued injury free success. https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/college/longhorns/football/2023/04/09/texas-wide-receiver-jordan-whittington-savoring-his-final-season/70092808007/ Excerpts: “I think there's different ways of leading,” Whittington said. “You're going to have the vocal ones, and then you're going to have the guys that, you know, they're not necessarily vocal, but they do what they need to do, and you can watch them. That's a form of leading, too, and I think we're getting every single person on the team to move in that direction.” Few experiences have matched graduation, when Whittington received his degree from Texas. “It was amazing,” he said. “You never really think about how cool it is until you actually get up there. I'm going to be a Texas Ex, and I'm so glad I could just say that and put it in my bio. It felt just like winning the state championship in high school.”
  14. Ty Madden mowed down some RubberDucks in the first start of the season for the Erie Seawolves. The former Texas Longhorns ace, who the Detroit Tigers drafted in the first round of the 2021 MLB First-Player Draft, looked the part against Akron on Saturday with 10 strikeouts in four innings. The Seawolves are the Double-A affiliate of the Tigers and went on to beat the RubberDucks 5-0. The Tigers gave Madden a $2.5 million signing bonus after the club drafted him with the No. 32 overall pick, and protecting his arm while he develops is of utmost importance. Madden hit his innings limit before his pitch limit, so he left the game without allowing a hit and just one walk in 60 pitches. Teams in Minor League Baseball are charged to value development before on-field success, and it’s common that pitchers have work limits, especially early in the season. Madden’s strikeout total tied his career-high with the Seawolves. Madden was 8-6 with a 3.01 ERA and 133 strikeouts for Advanced Single-A West Michigan and Erie last season. After his promotion, Madden started seven games for the Seawolves last year and was 2-2 with a 3.10 ERA, 49 strikeouts and 12 walks. https://www.kxan.com/sports/former-longhorns-ace-ty-madden-tremendous-in-1st-2023-start-for-double-a-erie/
  15. Portable Single-Lead Heart Monitor | KardiaMobile | Kardia Best to wait until after the cardiologist visit and ask him/her for recommendations. She likely will be fitted for a medical device heart rate monitor to wear for a continuous period to monitor her heart. Also, check the Kardia. Different products, FDA approved, and accepted by many medical professionals A friend uses and is very impressed.
  16. This is from KXAN. Statesman and TexasSports rarely have info. @YGIFS, if you have any contacts at TexasSports, please mention. AUSTIN (KXAN) — As Minor League Baseball squads gear up for another season, eight Texas Longhorns from last year’s College World Series team are set to take the field across the country. The 2022 Longhorns MLB Draft class was the second-largest in the past 10 years — 2017’s class was 11 players — and most of them have landed spots on Single-A rosters for the upcoming season. Ivan Melendez, the 2022 Golden Spikes Award winner and No. 10-ranked prospect for the Arizona Diamondbacks by MLB Pipeline, hasn’t been assigned to a team yet. According to MLB Pipeline’s Sam Dykstra, Melendez is dealing with a sore left hand but, “should be back soon.” He didn’t break camp with a club this spring due to the injury but played for the Single-A Visalia Rawhide for part of last season right after he was drafted. He played 25 games, hitting .207 with three home runs and eight RBIs. He struck out 20 times and walked 10 times. Once he’s ready to go, it’s likely that he heads to the Pacific Northwest to play for Arizona’s Advanced Single-A affiliate, the Hillsboro Hops. Melendez has been working out at third base as well as first base this spring. Shortstop Trey Faltine is currently the only member of the draft class to be on an Advanced Single-A roster. He’s slotted to play for the Dayton Dragons in the Cincinnati Reds organization. Outfielder Douglas Hodo III and catcher Silas Ardoin are teammates for the Delmarva Shorebirds, the Single-A team for the Baltimore Orioles. Lefthanded pitcher Pete Hansen gets to pitch for the Palm Beach Cardinals, the Single-A team for the St. Louis Cardinals, and infielder Murphy Stehly will suit up for the Fredericksburg Nationals in the Washington Nationals farm system. Jared Southard and Skyler Messinger are playing in the California League to start the season, Southard, part of the Los Angeles Angels organization, will pitch for the Inland Empire 66ers, and Messinger is on the roster for the Fresno Grizzlies, part of the Colorado Rockies system. https://www.kxan.com/sports/where-the-2022-texas-longhorns-mlb-draft-class-is-playing-to-start-the-2023-season/
  17. "bad blood" is likely OB $9.95 hype. Besides NIL, another key factor may have been we had a pitching coach change. Though Woody is proving to be an excellent pitching coach, how he would do here not known at the time. Walton has been at OkSt for 10 years and has put several into MLB.
  18. Yesterday Day batted in the 1st as DP, then replaced by Whitaker. Not in lineup today, injury ? Her experience and ability are invaluable, especially in games like this. As we have discussed, Simpson's forte is relief not starting.
  19. Would like to see a test for performance enhancing drugs. Not only their physical characteristics, their antics. #F___OU
  20. For good reason. Saw the below while searching for Final Four news.

SCar 6 MsSt 4 LSU 5 Tenn 2 LSU scored 3 in the bottom of the 8th to break a 2-2 tie. All time record crowd at The Box, 13K. Unfortunately, the right field bleacher crowd threw cans and trash onto the field in the 8th for an inexplicable reason. I suppose to celebrate the 3 runs.

Thursday night college baseball fix: SCar at MsSt, 6PM. SECN Stanford at OU, 6:30PM, ESPN+ (3 game series) Tenn at LSU, ESPNU, 7PM (should be a good one)
  23. Pierce was likely focused on watching players to prevent an incident.
  24. Is Washington injured ? Or batting avg (.247) ?
  25. Seems like deja vu, 3rd in conference, host a Regional, travel for a Super. This Tech team coming in may be the best Tech team we have seen in awhile (26-8). Definitely the best coached with first year coach Craig Snider (former top asst at Fla St and aggy) Though their pitching may be suspect compared with other B12 teams, at least on paper. Baylor travels to OKSt this weekend which will begin the separation.
