As indicated by 2147 and hobbes, it indicates he needs coaching. USC ranked 8th in the P12 in pitching only ahead of Utah, Wash, Wash St. Pitching coach was Ted Silva, former Fullerton pitcher, MLB (minors) pitcher, and Darrin Erstad's long time pitching coach at Nebraska.
At USC Hurley had a 45-32 and 19-14 K/BB ratio the last 2 years worse than our starters. I'm guessing the H/9 ratio was to avoid walks and tend to throw( @zlavydra's favorite term) meatballs or cookie. 🙂 Taller pitchers tend to have more command, injury, and mechanical issues which will be addressed by Williams.
From a purely mechanical look at pitching, the taller pitcher not only has the potential to have worse command problems due to the length of the forearm (not to mention the humerus), but also has a higher multiplier for torque and therefore stress on the structures of the human body.
