MW brought in Czech to relieve Dolcini for 4th and it didn't go well. 9-3 'Horns after 5. OU wins their 10th straight B12 title with a 6-0 win vs OKSt. FML

OU 7 OKSt 1 game 1 of 3 game series. Difficult to watch. Elish went 0-3 as DH. Bahl only threw 87 pitches. OKSt needs to make her throw more. We made her throw 109 in the 3-0 loss and 138 in the 4-2 win.

Hiring an outstanding coaching staff has paid more. Rumor was we did not show genuine interest or sincerity in Schlossnagle and only talked to him as one of the final candidates. They only have 8 transfers (below article). We have as many (Messinger, Schuessler, Stehly, Melendez, O'Dowd, Blair, Morehouse, Olivarez) if you include juco transfers which aggy includes in their 8. If interested, read the below article and check the bios of their coaching staff. With the hire of new head coach Jim Schlossnagle this past summer, A&M baseball has gone to work creating a very impressive coaching staff and bringing eight transfer athletes to Aggieland. Baseball America recently tabbed the Aggies with the nation’s best transfer class in 2021. https://www.thebatt.com/sports/a-m-s-transfer-class-brings-experience-fresh-potential/article_946eb30a-37a1-11ec-9311-b74ae6145950.html https://12thman.com/sports/baseball/roster#sidearm-roster-coaches

https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/softball/d1/ncaa-womens-softball-rpi OU is #2 in RPI behind Va Tech released 2 May, same date as this predicted bracket. OU is affected by being in a weak B12. The OKSt series beginning Thursday should provide opportunity for # 1 RPI.* (* no need to debate RPI formula, it is what it is)
-
Thanks ! Unless we play better than against Tech, Baylor may be difficult to sweep. This is their final series and postseason for their Seniors.

Pierce just signed a 5 year extension @1.2M per year last Summer. No idea if he will make staff changes and will likely use the CWS as a basis. Congrats on a great series ! Though certainly reasons to do so, I did not see any "Horns Down", looking into the Texas dugout, or any form of taunting by OKSt. Classy team with a classy coach. Trust me, Josh could have had the Texas job if he wanted it. Give him a pay raise.

Witt's surgery was 28 March. Witt's Dad, Kevin, is a former MLB player and was a hitting coach in the Marlins organization. Not positive, I think he is now involved with youth baseball in the Houston area. They will carefully evaluate and make best decision for Tanner with input from Kevin's contacts. Don't know his relationship with Pierce and staff but there is likely concern about pitcher's management/development. Though guessing Tanner has a private pitching coach. The saving grace may be Tanner is from a Longhorn Family.

Nice story about Garrett Wilson and the draft. (excerpt) No one had a better seat during Wilson's high school career that Cavaliers coach Hank Carter, who sat with Wilson and his parents — Kenneth and Candace Wilson — Thursday night in the shadows of the Las Vegas Strip. Carter's ticket to the show was made possible by an NFL program called "Thank You Coach." Yes, it all started when Wilson was a Lake Travis freshman. He arrived at the spacious school with the idea he would be the next great Lake Travis quarterback. But the Cavaliers already had an established quarterback in Charlie Brewer and Carter was looking for another way to utilize his talent. Wilson was reluctantly switched to wide receiver and the rest is history. "He has this athleticism and concentration to catch the football," Carter said. "It was something I had never seen before." https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/high-school/2022/05/02/former-lake-travis-wide-receiver-garrett-wilson-ready-nfl-career-baker-mayfield-garrett-gilbert/9589104002/

OKSt @ Fla St, no score after 2. ESPN2. Play again Friday, 5PM, ESPNU. Nice mention/tribute for Lauren Bennett, JMU. Mentioned Elish out with bicep tendon injury, Questionable depending on rehab whether she will be able to pitch again this year, "may" pinch hit, play 1B in the future.

iirc, @midtown just went this route. If he sees thread may offer advice.

Pittsburg was using the all staff approach, lost 3-1 to Brewers. Peters went 2 innings, no runs, hits, 1 BB. PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates’ starters have had a problem, well, starting. In seemingly every game, Pittsburgh has been behind the eight ball. That formula wasn’t sustainable. Something needed to change. So, a change was made. For the first time this season, manager Derek Shelton employed an opener. Left-hander Dillon Peters was called on for the task. Bryse Wilson was originally scheduled to start, but the right-hander would follow Peters out of the bullpen instead. Although the Pirates lost to the Brewers, 3-1, on Wednesday at PNC Park, it’s hard to deny that the formula worked as desired. “Dillon threw the ball well, Bryse threw the ball well,” Shelton said. “We got all the situations we wanted. We just didn’t win the game.” 'Opener' strategy effective for Peters, Wilson (mlb.com)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Bushong Member of the '75 Championship Team, pitching coach for Gus '90 - '93 before selection as head coach at Texas St. Read the GoFundMe. Texas St takes care of their own. Hope this receives publicity thru the Texas community. Several former Texas players have donated.

Also, Elder gets his 3rd start today vs Marlins in Atlanta.

With little fanfare, Preston Hoffart has returned to the team. Thought I saw him today, still on roster #40. Anyone hear anything ? https://texassports.com/sports/baseball/roster

Don't really closely follow, do know that Jalin Flores is a highly rated prospect and may go pro. @Horny Bull likely has more detail. Read that Bolte is very highly rated and also may go pro. Porchas and Coffey the other Calif signees look good. I like Porchas from what I have read. Note Kendall Rogers tweet. Rosters for '23 will go back to 27 on scholarship, 8 nonscholarship permitted except for Seniors who missed 2020. We currently have 42 on roster so there will be attrition. So how did Lauren Burke (.261) suddenly make an appearance in a most important series ? She did have a hit but Smith or Cimusz should have at least pinch hit especially in the extra innings for their power. Whitaker another possibility. Great game, Hailey !

https://texas.leanplayer.com/ Radio link, 6PM start. Add to the challenge this is OKSt's final home series. Senior Day Sunday. They travel to Florida St next week and OU in Norman the following week.

No TV for Friday game @ OKSt. Only B12 game not being televised. Poor job B12 office/ESPN 50% chance of tstorms for Sat night game, 24 mpw winds. Key series, argument could be made equal or more important than OU. Iowa St hosts OU. Need them to take 1 game like they did vs OKSt. Texas vs OKSt Fri 6PM, Sat 6:30PM (ESPN2), Sun 1PM (ESPN+) Starting pitching and defense are important parts of OSU's success. Left-hander Kelly Maxwell leads the Big 12 and ranks second nationally with 12.9 strikeouts per seven innings and ranks in the top 10 nationally in fewest hits allowed per game (fourth – 3.19) and shutouts (seventh – seven). Her 1.04 earned run average ranks 11th nationally and in her last start, she matched a school record with 18 strikeouts in a seven-inning game against Kansas. Right-hander Miranda Elish has won her last nine starts and has logged two no-hitters this season. Defensively, the Cowgirls lead the Big 12 and rank fourth nationally with a .982 fielding percentage.Notable Streaks and Trends• OSU has won 17 of its last 18 and 23 of its last 25.• OSU has won eight of its last 18 via run-rule.• OSU has outscored Big 12 opposition by a combined score of 89-19 through 12 games, including three shutouts and four run-rule victories in that stretch.• OSU has out-hit its opponents in 34 of its 41 games this season.• OSU has kept opponents to three runs or less in 22 of their last 23 and 35 of their last 41.• The Cowgirls have been ranked in the NFCA poll in each of their last 182 games, dating back to the start of the 2019 season.• Miranda Elish is batting .457, slugging .914 and leads all Cowgirls in home runs (five) and RBI (20) against Big 12 opponents. https://okstate.com/news/2022/4/19/softball-cowgirls-play-at-tulsa-host-texas-in-final-regular-season-home-series.aspx

Silas particularly needs some rest. A few pitches he has failed to block, throws to second don't have his normal pop and accuracy. On defense he doesn't seem to have his normal energy. Rest won't happen today without a substantial lead because we need this game. Pierce's modus operandi has been to go all in to win midweek games which can limit rest/development. Good point above by @dcar00 about leadership. No one seems to have that Kody Clemens personality.

Pierce said postgame the foul ball that hit Sean Allen "knocked him out" (Pierce's words). Taken to hospital for scan for possible facial bone fracture. Not sure. Blamed pitching, walks, location. Would like to see Sean Allen make all the mound visits. Seems to relax the pitcher. This pitching staff needs confidence, needs to know they are trusted.

😊 I know you are being facetious 😊 and knew, but others may not know. A native of Los Alamitos, Calif., Gajewski is married to Rachel, a Texas A&M softball alumnna, and has two children, Preston and Logan Gajewski. https://okstate.com/sports/softball/roster/coaches/kenny-gajewski/1762

KBAGOLFER 10:02a If Kenny G comes in he should take a long hard look at keeping Craig. He'll have his pitching coach in his wife, and if he doesn't keep Craig, he should look at the Ag hitting coach who we just got swept by. Chris! https://texags.com/forums/8/topics/3284118 aggy wanting KennyG. Very possible, doubt if OKSt could match salary, his wife (Rachel Fox) aggy alumna from Houston area. Would be more concerned if we were not moving to SEC. B12 softball will be in decline.
