  1. 40 game win streak ended. Congrats to Coach Lu Harris and the 'Dawgs ! Nice to see a coach have their team prepared.
  2. Not sure, I read that Ty occasionally does baseball radio broadcasts for Texas St. Could possibly see him tonight on the ESPN+ broadcast. afaik, his health is great - fully recovered from colon cancer. Not sure he is still there, but after retirement he went into investor relations with a successful commercial real estate firm in San Antonio.
  3. They are doing limited seating in a smaller ballpark. Best to call Tx State @ 512-245-2272. And StubHub. In the years I have been, never have seen scalpers. Chances likely not good other than StubHub. Always a great game and venue. Game is scheduled for ESPN+.
  4. OU has run ruled 25 of 33 opponents. But even Kansas and Iowa St did not lose all 3 by run rule (6-2, 9-7). Poor preparation in all areas. Perhaps pitchers were tipping pitches. It was as if no one watched tape. Defense is last in B12 (.954) before today. No excuse for that bad defense at this point in season.
  5. Props to Ryleigh White. Good job by a Freshman in that atmosphere. (7H, 5 ER, 0 BB, 0 Ks). Tagged by the 3run HR late by a PH (maybe not aware how to pitch). She was really hurt by Parker's 2 errors, not sure about Sullivan's error. She and Shea hit 3 batters each. OU may be crowding the zone. Hope Molly Jacobsen can have success. Don't think OU has seen her. Don't know, apparently Shea may have been "hanging" her changeup which is a key pitch for her. And not locating.
  6. Looks like we will play. 6PM start.
  7. https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/c870a9297a8931c6719e2c59d9266b432ba60a12bc9a77bcfb0cf7f6f8705d49 https://twitter.com/TexasSoftball https://twitter.com/OU_Softball Rain is forecast to diminish beginning at 4PM. Depending on field conditions, game may be possible. Good to monitor twitter for updates. Game will be broadcast on SoonerSports TV, pay site. Perhaps @Machinator or @shadow_operative2 can find us a link. 🙂
  8. Norman weather. 90% chance of rain on Friday, H 54, 13mph Wind Sat, Cloudy, H 58, 15mph Wind Sun, Sunny, H 63, 11mph Wind https://weather.com/weather/weekend/l/c870a9297a8931c6719e2c59d9266b432ba60a12bc9a77bcfb0cf7f6f8705d49
  9. Bring back Joe ! If not for the Astros' cameras he would still be here.

Saw most of the game on SECN. Kumar gave up 3HR's. Ga had 7 HR's in the game, Vandy with 4 errors. Never saw Vandy play that bad but credit Ga, looked very good.
  11. Thank Omar for Melendez. The El Paso product had only one Division I offer coming out of high school, from New Mexico State. He instead went to Odessa College to pitch and hit. He was eventually convinced to just focus on hitting; Melendez hit 17 homers and was an NJCAA All-American in 2019. Tipped off about the slugger by former Longhorns star Omar Quintanilla, Texas convinced Melendez to join its 2020 recruiting class. When Melendez signed, assistant coach Sean Allen described him as "a natural hitter with huge raw power." https://www.hookem.com/story/sports/baseball/2021/04/07/baseball-ivan-melendez-stays-hot-texas-wins-its-fifth-straight/7134100002/
  12. And thanks for the updates ! Cancellation of the Texas Classic (Ala, Az, Colo St) and other national tournaments has hurt the RPI (#25) and ISR (#20). Not sure if Boyd's and the NCAA are the bible on the rankings, but likely close. May be difficult to host a SR and possibly a Regional. Need to do some damage in conference play. Softball appears at this time to have a normal Regional setup. Selection Sunday is 16 May, Regionals begin 21 May. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/softball/d1/ncaa-womens-softball-rpi http://www.boydsworld.com/baseball/isr/currentisr.html https://www.ncaa.com/news/softball/article/2020-05-04/womens-college-world-series-2021-schedule
  13. https://utamavs.com/watch/?Live=254&type=Live Audio for UTA game. Disable adblock, was sched for video, perhaps technical difficulties ? Jacobsen in the circle. I won't be able to give regular updates, perhaps someone ?
  14. Follow NMAS advice in post 3 and also may want to call the Ticket Office, 512-471-333 for box office procedures/availability. iirc, someone posted you lineup and then they issue a code to order and pay on your phone ? Not sure that is correct.
  15. Excerpts, AAS article on Daly. Praise for Tulo. Nice for Stehly to tutor since losing his position. Per his bio, Daly's dad is a 4 star General, US Army. "I feel comfortable on both sides of the middle infield," Daly said. "It hasn't really been too difficult. (Volunteer assistant coach Troy Tulowitzki has) done a great job and some of the older guys like Murph have done a great job of answering any questions that I've had." So, how did a player raised in the heart of SEC country end up at Texas? Daly said he once visited Austin with a travel team, and he felt an instant connection after visiting the UT campus with his dad. He committed to the Longhorns in December 2018. "I really just felt like it was a natural fit," Daly said. "I just credit God for that, just putting me where I think I belong." https://www.hookem.com/story/sports/baseball/2021/04/06/baseball-texas-opens-seasons-longest-homestand-21st-win/7095455002/
  16. SHSU beat aggy tonight 8-6. Childress in last year of contract.
  17. Thanks for posting. Exactly ! Never once in his columns at BC did he come close to criticizing Shaka. When questioned, his reply was "given benefit of the doubt, not at practice, blah, blah. He finally wrote an article in 2019 saying it would be best for a change. But never in the postgame articles did he question Shaka.
  18. Good point ! Should see a more consistent lineup with the start of conference play. Though MW likes to rotate 1B/OF for offense. Currently .953 fielding avg. Yikes !
  19. Some would agree. O'Leary solid, (3H, 7K's, 2BB, 0 runs) 4 runs in the second on 4 singles, and 2 walks, 7 total hits, Parker and Rhodes with errors (beginning to think we miss Chelsea Spencer, need to send Tulo over from the Disch) Tech pitcher walked 6 in key situations. Tech is last in B12 in hitting and next to last in pitching. https://big12sports.com/stats.aspx?path=softball&year=2021
  20. Thanks for posting ! Great interview. Lots of insight, no coachspeak.
  21. Will be difficult to sleep tonight, will add my $.02. - Antico did not consistently see this level of pitching at St Johns. Pierce is likely keeping him in the lineup because he leads the team in walks, 3rd with less K's, and 11-14 SB's. And the overall experience factor. I like him, he needs a breakout game to get back on track. - Can't see Witt getting AB's in a game like this when he is pitching. Mental thing especially for a freshman no matter his talent. Petrinsky hurt ? Geib, Melendez ? - Early in the year, someone mentioned team leadership. It wasn't there tonight. We looked tepid. Not football, but need to show more enthusiasm. Need a Kacy, Kody, Tres Barrera, Cameron Rupp. - Someone do a welfare check on @Fletch 🙂

SCar beat Florida last night, 9-8, 14 inn, and won one game last week against Vandy. The more they win it helps our RPI/SOS.
  23. With Covid scheduling, limited travel for teams, etc, suppose there is the risk of "playing down" to the competition and not having focus. These teams are terrible. SDak (4-20) UTSA (5-13) UTA (4-18) Stats: 2nd Hitting, 3rd Pitching, Last in Fielding Gets real on Thurs with Tech coming to town. https://big12sports.com/stats.aspx?path=softball&year=2021
  24. siap, CDC's 40 Acres Insider Read as you will ... With the thrill of victory, we also experienced the agony of defeat last week. Saturday's Men's Basketball game was a heartbreaker as Coach Smart and our No. 9 Longhorns were stunned in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by Abilene Christian. It was a tough night all the way around as our Longhorns just couldn't find a groove, made far too many turnovers, and in the end came up one-point short, 53-52. Watching from Indy, it was just gut-wrenching seeing such a wonderful group of student-athletes experiencing such a disappointing end to a season that included so much success, like the Maui Invitational title (played in Asheville, N.C. due to the pandemic, of course), our first-ever Big 12 Tourney Championship, a No. 9 final ranking in the AP Poll and a 19-8 overall record. It was not how any of us wanted it to end and was so abruptly and truly devastating for us all, but like all competitors and those of us in athletics do, we must pick ourselves up off the mat, dust off and get back to work. https://texassports.com/news/2021/3/24/forty-acres-insider-march-24.aspx
