Thanks for the correction. Went to their schedule, Jones gave up 7 hits in 3.1 inn to Grambling, 0 runs.
-
If no injury, Schlossnagle tried to get cute by starting Sdao, only his 4th start of year. His other main starters are Jones and Lampkin.

Braden Montgomery lost for the postseason on this play. Possibly got a cleat caught while trying to creatively determine how to slide around catcher. Was out by a mile, question on whether he should have been sent. No matter how much we hate aggy, hope Braden fully recovers for a successful MLB career.

https://www.secsports.com/2024-softball-stats-pdf A new dawn is upon us. Note the drop in BA after Florida and aggy. And an overall league ERA of 2.52. Coaches and players will have to step up. As much as we dislike OU, JT Gasso does a tremendous job with their hitters for in game adjustments and game preparation. He is largely responsible for their confidence and success.
-
Good points ! The team does have a mental coach (for lack of a better description). He is a tall, slim guy in the dugout not often seen. Statesman had an article about him, can't find link. A relatively young team compared to OU and all the distracting media hype were key factors. Being older and wiser will eliminate that. Regardless, great season for an outstanding group on and off the field.
-
In an interview during the regular season series, Gasso stated Czech matches up well with their LH hitters. The tone of her comment was one of respect. Czech relieved TK in the regular season game 2 (2-1 win), 3.1 inn, 3H, 0 runs. That said, OU does a masterful job with film study and adjusting approach. In the B12 championship game, they slowed their bats and went to right field several times on Citialy.

Chase graduated in May with a Communications degree. He is almost 24. Hope he is a late round draft choice or free agent contract if he chooses.

Checked for further info. Freshmen are bailing out in Lubbock. May be because Tadlock is going heavy on portal ? Garet Boehm is Gage's brother, an infielder. Perfect Game rated him #1 3B in the State. Hit .389 with 1 HR in only 18 AB. Stripling appeared in 33 games with 24 starts for the Red Raiders this season. He hit for a .253 average with four home runs, three doubles and drew 17 walks in 99 plate appearances during his freshman season in Lubbock. He will have three years of eligibility remaining. On Sunday, Travis Sanders, Davis Rivers and Garet Boehm announced their entries into the transfer portal. All three players were freshmen this season who saw limited action for the Red Raiders. Rivers appeared in 19 games, Sanders 13 and Boehm 11. https://www.lubbockonline.com/story/sports/college/red-raiders/2024/06/03/gavin-kash-texas-tech-baseball-players-headed-to-transfer-portal/73957080007/

SEC Commissioner Sankey on SEC Tourn in Hoover (exercpts) Note the ingress/egress issue. "We're going to be certainly in Hoover for a few more years. They've made commitments," Sankey said of the city's efforts. "You can see the entry. You can see the redone parking lot. You could walk through the facility and see enhancement plans before we play again next year. They've built the Finley Center, which is an all-purpose building that really accommodates our fans in an outstanding way. ... "I made some notes about ingress and egress (this year). There's a direct way in. We were stacked up about a mile and a half on the 459 when I was driving in about two hours before the game. How do we reduce the fan friction to access the facility is top of mind. Now, credit to the city of Hoover. They actually sent people out to buy bottles of water that they were handing out, and they had done preparation in advance knowing that there'd be a great crowd and dealing with the heat. ... But we need to continue to work on reducing the challenges, if you will, for access for those big crowds." Sankey noted how the Hoover Met draws large audiences, even on school nights. He mentioned a story in which an Ohio State fan came up to him during the tournament and told him they had previously seen the enviornment and wanted to be a part of it. "I think we want to respect that we've built something special in that location," Sankey said. "... The geographic center, even after this next expansion, is just north of Birmingham. So, it's an accessible place if you want to get there. It's going to be distant from the outer edges of the league, but it's a pretty special place. We've got 250-plus RV hookups that sellout just like that. If you ever walk through that community, for one week it is a community. (It's) fun to see people enjoying college baseball in a really unique way." Sankey was also asked about the potential desire to put more tournaments in the western half of the conference landscape, especially now that the Longhorns and Sooners are involved. "The pressure is to get the site location right," Sankey said. "There are sets of championships that do rotate around. Those are campus-based championships. ... We actually looked diligently and have surfaced that issue, identified that issue with our membership to say, 'Hey, we're ready to look west. We have looked west.' But the opportunities we've had in other locations have just been voted the priority. ... "We'll continue to look at western opportunities. I was vocal about it, but the decisions made by our membership has created the inventory in the locations we have." https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/college/2024/05/29/sec-baseball-tournament-hoover-met-greg-sankey/73900368007/

I watched the Florida series. She pitched a gem in game 2, 5 hits/2 runs. (5-2 win) They brought her back to start game 3 instead of Binford and she gave up 4 runs in 1st inning. Binford relieved and gave up 1 run on 2 hits the rest of the way. (5-3 loss). Hope going to portal is not an emotional decision.

No, Heffler was the coach ejected yesterday. Harger ejected in Florida. They look like brothers and both are aholes. https://12thman.com/sports/softball/roster

Anyone know if Singleton is suspended today ? Or if umpire crew chief/NCAA can waive the rule ? Not sure, what I found is below. Big loss if he is suspended, always provides in game consult with the hitters. Penalties for Coach Ejection The ejected coach must leave the playing field and dugout area immediately and is not allowed to communicate with the team or umpires. The ejected coach is suspended for the next regularly scheduled contest (one game). The suspended coach is not allowed to participate in any manner during the suspension. Additional Notes A coach who is ejected from a game can appeal the decision to the NCAA. The NCAA Softball Rules Committee has the authority to eject a coach from a game for unsportsmanlike conduct or misconduct. Coaches are expected to maintain a professional demeanor and not engage in behavior that is deemed unsportsmanlike. Sun came up this morning. Many remember the Arkansas Fayetteville Super Regional in '22 when we lost game 1, then won the next 2 for MW's first trip to the WCWS with Texas. 4 of today's starters were on that team (Dayton, Maloney, Scott, Washington) with Czech, Cimusz, and Simpson. May they inspire the others.
-
Read an interview with Amanda Scarborough. She said Texas has the most pressure being the #1 seed and expected to advance to the WCWS. In Trisha Ford's only 2nd year aggy is loose and playing with house money. I did not have the opinion her statement was pro aggy but made a good point. As stated above by others, the last 2 innings were very, very important to give momentum and create doubt for aggy. We got Kennedy to over 100 pitches today when at first it did not look like we would. This is not baseball, but in this heat it matters.

The scouting report on how to pitch to Cannon is in error.

Quotes: @bschoolprof Do you by chance have the Mike White press conf that is referenced ? (White) “For us to win the national championship, we have to play everybody and beat good teams,” he said during a press conference Thursday. “This is just an opportunity to play a very good team from a very good conference, and the extra added piece is the rivalry, but the game tomorrow night won’t know that.” Aggies left-handed pitcher Emiley Kennedy threw the bulk of the innings and White fully expects to see her high-velocity style again. “She’s tough,” White said. “She’s controlling her emotions better than she was before, so she’s smoothed that out. She knows she’s the ace and the team depends on her, and she takes that and rides with it. She’s got the same kind of stuff and velocity, she’ll throw a little bit of offspeed but she wants to power the ball by you.” (Kennedy) “I personally am not a fan of Austin, Texas,” she said. “I grew up in the College Station area. It’s just a school rivalry so we’re not really making it too big.” Kennedy went to Lake Creek High School in Montgomery, about an hour’s drive from the Texas A&M campus. “The balance of attack in the SEC is much higher than a lot of conferences, top to bottom,” Ford said. “Every team has a pitcher who can throw 70 mph and 5-6 players that are top-notch, players who can put up a crooked number with one swing.” https://www.kxan.com/sports/longhorns-aggies-downplay-lone-star-showdown-rivalry-headed-into-softball-super-regional/

Props to Schuessler. Article contains photos that show the seriousness of the injury. AUSTIN (KXAN) – As Texas Longhorns catcher Kimble Schuessler was moving toward what he envisioned being a breakout season with Texas, he started to experience major discomfort in his left hand. He eventually went to get it checked out, and the diagnosis was a rare one that required risky surgery. “Doctors really … it was an experimental surgery,” said Schuessler. “There wasn’t really a name for it.” In August 2022, the discomfort started for Schuessler on his left index finger. It turned to discoloring and numbness. The best way to describe it is “dead finger.” He tried to push through the injury for months but decided for surgery in December. A 5-hour surgery kept him in intensive care for four days afterward. The surgery, as Schuessler said, was an experimental one. Doctors took an artery from his left thigh and attached it inside his left hand to get blood flow to his “dead” finger. They removed scar tissue and broken arteries as well which all left him with quite the scar. “Going in, I knew that it was going to be fixed but I didn’t really know if I was going to have 10 fingers when I woke up,” said Schuessler. The surgery was a success, but Schuessler had quite the road to recovery in front of him. It started with catching ping pong balls to regain strength, and then it progressed into a major test. “The moment that I really knew the surgery worked was [the] first weekend at [Texas] Tech,” said Schuessler. “Friday night I was catching Lebarron [Johnson Jr.] and it was snowing. I was like if I make it through this game, then I know the surgery worked.” Not only did Schuessler make it through, but he’s become an everyday player. He’s having the breakout season he’s been working for throughout college. “I’ve been healthy and not played and I’ve been hurt and not played,” said Schuessler. “I’ve seen both sides of the spectrum. Getting in there and really maximizing my opportunity has been great and I really appreciate it.” Schuessler is hitting .338 with nine home runs for the Longhorns. He and Texas will get going in the Big 12 Conference tournament in Arlington on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. against Texas Tech. aggy 2B Wiggins appeared to be taunting Mullins after she hit the home run. Noticed her before. She has the personality (overexuberant to the point of annoying) to play for OU. But she also has the skill. Not sure I can take the 5 days of media hype that will happen this week.

Thanks so much. I was going to post this but was too lazy. Everyone show js some rep for an outstanding job of score updates and schedule.

https://texassports.com/sports/softball/schedule/2023 Went back and looked at the '23 Regional. Kennedy relieved for 4 innings in game 1 and we only got 1 hit. (2-1 final) In game 2 she relieved for 6.1 and we got 7 runs on 7 hits (11-5 final) Our offense is much better this year with RH hitters Stewart and Mitchell. Washington and Goode are coming to life. Atwood is an All American this year. aggy like us has alot of speed 69/82 SB's we are 84/97. Can't bobble the ball.
