    Fuck Big 12 refs

Because I have seen replay used to confirm grounding outside the end zone but that could have been NFL and not NCAA Evidently you can't review whether a QB is down in the end zone either

You could be right. I know the NCAA has a rule interpretations book that goes along with the rule book that explains the rulings using play examples. I would have to dig into that to find the official interpretations. I can easily understand not ruling grounding after seeing replay but I can't wrap my head around not being able to confirm the call that will award points to a team.

In my scenario the intentional grounding should have been called so the ruling would have already been made. The replay would be confirming what was ruled is correct. I interpret that ruling to be calling intentional grounding as a result of what is seen in replay.

Grounding can't be called as a result of replay but replay can be used to confirm the grounding. If the flag had been thrown for grounding the refs could have used replay to verify they were correct.

    Fuck Big 12 refs

Ask yourself this question. Why did Bryce Young throw the ball in the endzone with his head pointing down and his feet sideways? My answer is to avoid a safety. If so then it was intentional grounding. But you say there was a receiver in the area ok maybe there was but the ref should still throw the flag and clean it up on replay. You see now you can use replay to get the play call correct. With no flag thrown you can't use replay to call grounding. 105,000 people saw intentional grounding on the play and two refs didn't. But then 1 official saw targeting and threw the flag when the player called for targeting didn't get within 3 feet of the head and neck area of the ball carrier. But for safety sake the ref throws the flag and cleans it up on review. Then during review the neither the replay official nor the ref looked for Young being down. Which is something that can be cleaned up during review. It happens all the time. It reminds me of a play that happened to me during a state playoff baseball game fortunately I made the right decision on the fly. Bases were loaded the batter hits a hard line drive down the left field line. Just before the ball hit the ground the 3rd baseman steps between me and the ball. I was clueless as to fair or foul. I immediately point to the inside indicating fair, three runs score on a stand up double. The defensive team went apeshit in the 3rd base dugout and the coach was livid. I met with my partners and explained I was blocked on the play. One of my partners was sure the ball was foul. So I changed the call to foul and put runners back on base and the batter in the box with a strike. If I had originally called the ball foul I couldn't have changed my call because I had no way of knowing where runners would have reached. Once a foul ball is called it is always foul and can't be changed but by allowing the play to continue and not killing it I had a way to get it right. This was before there was any video replay so I had to depend on partners to help correct the issue. I called both coaches to the plate and explained the situation to them and why I made the original call of fair. The batting teams coach was still not happy but seemed to understand. After the game the upset coach caught me leaving the field and admitted that I had handled the situation about as well as I could have under the circumstances and was appreciated the fact that I was willing to change my call to get the play corrected. I knew all along some team was going to be upset which ever way I went.
  6. Fuck the head ref he threw the flag for targeting. The QB is the white hats priority
  7. One click back You could see Young’s foot clearly without interruption of guilbeau’s foot.
  8. not to mention the holding by 54 on Guilbeau in the endzone which is also a safety. Texas should have got 4 points on that play.
  9. Freeze at 16 sec and see Bryce young's ankle is on the groud and hasn't started throwing motion.
  10. The intentional grounding can't be called by review. Whether a player is down or not can be reviewed and is reviewed all the time. Just because the player is in the endzone rules do not change.
  11. The refs absolutely can review if he was down prior to the ball leaving his hand. If the do find that he was down prior to passing then by rule if that happens in the endzone it is a safety. It should have also been reviewed since it was a potential scoring play,. All scoring plays are supposed to be reviewed. It was a bullshit call. It was a bullshit flag on Overshown. It was bullshit that it wasn't reviewed for being down prior to the pass. It was bullshit that intentional grounding wasn't originally called. If called it can be corrected by review. If not called it can't be corrected by review.
  12. Texas 42 UTSA 13 263 yards given up by D
  13. The flip side to that had they called the safety they damn sure would review from every angle and possibly some invented angles to overturn the call. For Texas to beat Bama yesterday they had to beat two teams.
  14. The refs were more worried about calling targeting on overshown to get him out of the game than looking for young being down. It never occurred to the ref to check to see if young was down. Intentional grounding cannot be called on review. how any ref could have thought there was targeting on the play when the quarterbacks head is on the ground and the defensive player flies over through the qbs ankles I will never know. Nothing about the play was even remotely close to targeting.
  15. The ball must reach the line of scrimmage or have and receiver in the area. The ball went out of bounds in the end zone. Therefore intentional grounding should have been called. Intentional grounding in your end zone is a safety.
  16. I do t know about that. NU just spent closed to $17M to get their asses beat by Georgia Southern. That would have gone a long way to help with NIL.
