  1. We really need to get the GM situation handled. We’re talking about what we may be able to go get with pitching to trade but we have no idea what somebody may be offering for starting pitching. Let it be known someone may be available and then see who wants to overpay for a starter. Let the bidding begin. He who has the gold makes the rules and pitching will always be the gold.
  2. Fantasy baseball games are fun.
  3. I don’t think I want Alvarez as everyday left fielder. He’s too valuable as DH to have him crash into a wall or dive for a ball. If we sign Contreras I’d like to try to pry Varsho from Arizona as an outfielder and 3rd catcher which would allow Contreras to DH when Alvarez does play left with Varsho in center. Alvarez as LF/DH, Contreras as C/DH and Varsho as LF/CF/C would give lots of lineup flexibility for Dusty to play his lineup games. Not sure why Arizona would trade Varsho but it would be interesting. I don’t see a lot of free agents frankly that move the needle for me. Some of y’all know players much better than I do though.
  4. FYI Saw this on FanDuel from this morning: MLB insider Jon Heyman reports the Astros executives are "meeting on" former Chicago Cub Willson Contreras. Contreras should receive a $19.65 million qualifying offer from Chicago, but reports suggest he'll turn this down and test the open market. This isn't the first time Houston had sights set on Contreras. According to Heyman, the Astros had a trade in place for Contreras back in July, but owner Jim Crane "nixed it." Houston instead traded for Christian Vazquez and used him in rotation with Martin Maldonado. The plan worked this past season, but it's clear that won't stop Houston's front office from considering a different route with Contreras available in free agency. Contreras slashed .243/.349/.466 with 22 home runs and 55 RBIs in 2022 and is considered the best offensive catcher on the market.
  5. Hader is probably available. Maybe he can get him back.
  6. As long as we’re throwing out scenarios that may or may not be crazy, Trea Turner can play center field…let’s go crazy and blow peoples minds lol
  7. Winning a World Series and then replacing both the manager and GM would have been wild to see and added to the Astros lore for better or worse. I didn’t think it would happen.
  8. Woke up this morning feeling like I’ve been celebrating for over 24 hours. Which I had. Que the obligatory Hedberg I used to drink, I still do but I used to too, joke. Lol This hangover is pure bliss after this year. Being on this thread almost every day was a lot of fun. I’ve read it for years but contributed some this year and I hope not too poorly. Ready for the off season discussions, debate over how to reload and ready for spring training. Thanks everyone for a great year! Let’s go get another one!
  9. Schwarber white flagged that shit. That was nuts. Never seen that before.
  10. Nails Neris!!
  11. Let’s go BP!
  12. Vazquez is that guy. The stake through the heart guy. Cmon Mancini!
  13. Let’s don’t start sucking each other’s dicks yet. Nine more outs.
  14. Save some Mancini scorn for Yordan because he’s barely pissed a drop since Seattle
  15. Wow! I’m watching Astros but have this one my phone with no sound. Can’t wait to hear this bullshit explanation.
  16. The Mancini fairy tale writes its ending tonight!
  17. Fuck this ump
  18. I think the “impact” part is partly what fucked him. He came in hitting home runs everywhere and thought he had to keep it up. He tries to hit 3 run homers every at bat.
  19. I just watched the replay again thankful that this was not a game where Chas moved to left and Dubon was brought in to play center. No way Dubon makes that catch. The baseball gods smiled down on us for once.
  20. I think tomorrow we will see Mancini back in the lineup. Either for Yuli or as DH. My hope is that the play at first took some pressure off him and made him feel like a contributor and part of winning games and will translate to the plate one last time. It’s had to have been hard being new guy and feeling like not contributing. He knows he’s been bad and knows everyone else knows. But now he can walk in tomorrow with head up. Hope he plays and gets a big hit. Then we will wait for the Tom Rinaldi feature on ESPN and the Disney+ movie.
  21. Holy shit. Wore out. Happy for the win. Happy for JV getting a win. Happy for Mancini being able to really honestly make a contribution. That was a potential game saving play. Let’s get one more but don’t kill us all in the process.
  22. Fuck that might actually get his bat going now. Finally contributed, big play, confidence up.
  23. Mancini…professional fielder.
  24. Mancini!!!
