I get it, but as a relevant anecdote I will mention I've never heard anyone in conversation talk about the AT&T Red River Showdown. I don't think the official name has detracted from or tarnished the rivalry.

No clue, but if I were to speculate I'd say they've seen what kind of stupid names people come up with in naming contests. I read something a couple of days ago where someone was proposing Austin FC should have an Ice Bat be their mascot. Also, why not get paid? There are corporate sponsors for virtually everything in MLS. Q2, Yeti, St. David's, Netspend... I'm not sure why anyone would expect differently.

I imagine the stadium in Frisco is a major obstacle. I live in South Austin, but going to Q2 Stadium isn't a deal breaker. It's really not that far, and there are a lot of different options to get up that way. If Q2 was in Round Rock or Cedar Park attending a match would rarely even be a consideration.

What are the chances of another team finding a home in central Dallas one day? LA and NY have two teams each. Aren't there about 8 million people living in DFW these days?

Earlier this afternoon I was leaving the South Congress HEB, and while driving down Congress Ave. near Fulmore Middle School the team was out for a run. It was pretty cool seeing the squad decked out in their practice kits out for a jog.
  7. Is the NEZ scoreboard going in before the 2021 season?
  8. I remember how optimistic I was when Texas whipped Kansas' ass in Lawrence. I think they were ranked like #4 in the nation, and talk of being a #2 seed in the tourney seemed realistic. WTF?!?
  9. Radiohead. Ok Computer is a masterpiece.
  10. At least one of them was seriously injured. He said the receiver underwent a four-hour operation on Feb. 16 that was performed by Dr. Perry Brooks in Norman, Oklahoma. “Dr. Brooks came out of that surgery saying he’s extraordinarily lucky at this point, that he’s lucky he didn’t lose the eye altogether,” Glass said. “And so he was able to do some things surgically to rebuild that orbital socket and thinks everything is eventually going to come back to normal, but it’s going to take a while for him to fully recover.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.yardbarker.com/college_football/articles/amp/oklahomas_spencer_jones_suffered_serious_eye_injury_in_bar_fight/s1_127_34162337
  11. Not only did they get their asses handed to them, but the whole ordeal including them picking the fight was caught on film. They will forever regret their decision.
  12. Yes. My complex has had plumbers working the last two or three days. They continue to find more leaks everytime they turn the water back on, such as mine today.
  13. I came home tonight to a puddle of water on the floor in front of kitchen sink, yet everything was dry inside of cabinet. I'm thinking that means a leak inside the wall. Luckily I rent so I'm not on the hook to pay a plumber, but am curious how much work will be required to fix. Am I going to have a plumber in my apartment all day long, ripping out drywall and shit?
  14. Not a big fan of the self-righteous shaming I've been seeing. Mind you, I'm saying this as someone who went days without power, and still doesn't have water. But I guaranfuckingtee you when my water turns on I'll be taking a shower, and using my dishwasher, and washing my clothes, and whatever the fuck I want to do in my home without any sense of guilt. Get outta here with that bullshit.
  15. Still no water, but in my case it's on my apartment complex. Around 30 apartments have leaks causing damage. I guess there is no way to shut off the water to individual buildings, so they shut off the supply to everyone. I've lost track of the days, but I know I really need to wash dishes and take a shower. Luckily, my tub water is still half full for filling the toilet tank. And thanks to St. Elmo Brewery I still have about 3.5 gallons of fresh water for drinking. Are there any more restaurants open today than yesterday?!? I just wanted some got damn food while I was out yesterday. 90% of everything was closed, and the few that were open had mile long lines. It was ridiculous.
  16. I filled my 5 gallon jug at St. Elmo today. Also picked up some of their beers while there. Just be prepared for a wait. I was in line for about 1.5 hours. Not how I wanted to spend my early afternoon, but am thankful to St. Elmo. It's something else the city isn't distributing clean water to it's citizens somehow, and instead it is good samaritans ensuring Austinites have access to the most basic of necessities.
  17. Same in SE Austin. Shit is coming down sideways.
  18. This is an embarrassment. I know the weather has been unusually cold. Some power outages, rolling blackouts, etc. should be expected. However, what has and is occurring has exposed utter imcompetence. Heads need to roll. This should never happen again. I am ashamed. A week of cold weather, and I feel like I'm living in a 3rd World country. Fucking ridiculous.
  19. Those branches normaly wouldn't even be in view. They're sagging from the ice.
