  1. I know. I still think this is a disaster in the making, but then again I've been wrong before. And I'm trying to take a more wait and see approach I guess. The way I see it we will all know soon enough if this is being overblown, or not.
  2. It does seem way worse, but then again media frenzy may just be making everyone take notice.
  3. I will point out .2 is still twice the average mortality rate for seasonal flu deaths of all ages, which also disproportionately affects olds. Under 40 flu deaths? I dunno but has to be astronomically low.
  4. So it is starting to look like it's not as contagious as previously thought? Or like few will actually need to be in the hospital? I have not seen that data yet. It looks pretty rough in China, Iran, S. Korea, and Italy though.
  5. Really?!? The Stand is about an engineered bioweapon that killed 99% of the Earth's humans. Whether the Spanish Flu inspired him to write the book is not relevant to my statement.
  6. 140 critical according to this data, but it's not been updated with the above info. yet. https://bnonews.com/index.php/2020/02/the-latest-coronavirus-cases/
  7. Again, huge gulf between some doomsday Stand-like event, and something similar to a repeat of the Spanish Flu. It's not tin-foil hat to think that something like the Spanish Flu will happen again. As a matter of fact I've heard my entire life from the experts that it's not a matter of if, but when. I guess they're all a bunch of fear-mongering, tinfoil hatwearing, doomsdayers!
  8. Wait, what do we know now? The only "good" news I've seen was the Vox article saying that even with China's draconian quarantine measures in place the virus is still spreading there, just not as fast. I mean, yay? It certainly isn't bad news, but it doesn't make me think, "Golly, things are looking up!" I don't know how anyone paying attention to the spread occuring around the globe can't think this thing is just getting started.
  9. That's utterly ridiculous. There are like three people I wish were dead. Tops.
  10. Well, that is some great news. Then again didn't they quarantine like 700 million people?
  11. The amount of sunshine pumping going on in here is impressive. I gotta say I'm a little jealous of the optimism. Just a reminder though, there's a huge fucking gulf between "doomsday" and "it's no worse than the flu". Hopefully the blowhard A. Jones is full of shit like he mostly always is, but 1 million dead is not "doomsday". Is it really that hard to imagine 100 million in the US catching this virus? Is 1% mortality rate just too ridiculous to comprehend? I'm keenly aware, and hopeful it may not end up that bad just like everyone else in this thread. But just because some people choose to look at this without the rosiest of glasses on does not make them a doomsdayer expecting this to be the fucking apocolypse.
  12. That first guy leaping halfway into the pool on the video almost had to be one of the deaths. Jesus, what a terrible way to go. One second you're partying down with your friends high on life, and next thing you're dying in a thick layer of carbon dioxide unbeknownst to your friends mere feet away.
  13. The poors don't vote anyways, especially if they're all coronavirused up 🤣
  14. Cool. Hopefully it isn't near as bad as what the data has suggested thus far. I'm no different from you in regards to hoping this really does blow over, and it's back to life as usual in no time!
  15. Because some people don't drink tap water for various reasons. I'm sure anyone would if there was no choice, but if you'd rather not why not have 5 or 10 gallons on hand?
  16. And who in 2012 thought it was a good idea to sign this "Contract For Conference Membership" which binds us to this shit conference until the year 2111?
  17. So tomorrow is when testing in the US is supposed to really ramp up. How quickly do we see the results? Does it take a few days, or is it pretty much immediate?
  18. Me too. I was even going to cancel my weekly visit to the old folks home, but figured the joy I bring them is too important so I toughed it out.
  19. I'm still in a state of shocked disbelief everytime I ponder on the fact that the short lived, yet once mighty Big 12 lost the likes of Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, and TAMU, and replaced them with fucking TCU and West Virginia. It's inexcusable that the powers that be let the Big 12 fall apart. It was a great conference while it lasted. It's really unbelievable that after the great exodus Texas and Oklahoma decided it was still in their best interest to stay in this pathetic excuse for a so-called power conference. We should have said adios back in the 2012 timeframe when everyone else bolted. Pac, SEC, B10, independent, whatever. That was the time to make the move.
